installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Today, on our 1997 Ford F250, we'll be installing our Curt two inch Receiver Hitch part number C15300. This is what our hitch will look like once installed. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is four and a quarter inches. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 18 inches. This will assist you in selecting accessories such as a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. We'll go ahead with installation. To begin our install we'll first go ahead and point out the attachment points.
For this application we'll have to drill out the attachment points. We'll have a total of six, three on each side. Starting with the forward attachment point, there is a small pre-drilled hole in both prime rails. We'll be using this pre-drilled hole as a starting point for our hitch. We'll go ahead and drill the hole out large enough for half inch hardware then put our carriage bolt and block in to place.
Next, it's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch while we install the half inch flange nut to hold the hitch up in to position. With our hitch in place, we'll go ahead and mark the center and rear attachment points. Noting this application does have a pre-drilled hole at the rear attachment point, however, it's not center of the attachment point for our hitch, so we'll go ahead and drill out a hole right next to it. With the holes marked, we'll go ahead and take the hitch back down. Using the step bit process we'll start with a smaller bit to create a pilot hole enlarging the bit size until we get to our final size which will be large enough for the half inch hole at our center attachment point and nine sixteenths tall for the rear attachment point. With our holes drilled out, we're ready to put our hardware in place. Note for the center attachment point we'll have a half inch carriage bolt and block going down through the frame and then through the hitch.
To secure the hitch, we'll install a second block and then the half inch flange nut. For the rear attachment point we'll be using the nine sixteenths carriage bolt and block going down through the frame and through the hitch and then securing it with a nine sixteenths locking flange nut. With our carriage bolt and blocks in place we're ready to put the hitch in position. It's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch while you install your hardware and flange nuts. With everything finger tight, we'll go ahead and run it down.
Next, we'll torque to specifications as indicated instructions. That does it for the install of our Curt 2" Hitch part number C15300 on our 1997 Ford F250. .

One extremely tough hitch. I have a 1996 Ford F250, the body shop thought it wouldn't work. I got it home and with a lot of grunting and drilling (use a new cobalt bit), I was able to bolt it, one side at a time. When drilling, use some cutting oil that's used for black iron pipe (Oatey, found in plumbing will work). To make sure your carriage bolt plate will seat flat, make sure to drill as close inward toward the center of your vehicle as you can, allowing yourself enough metal as is reasonable. Thanks etrailer for the expedited shipping and great phone help. I've attached some pics for those who want to see what it looks like installed. 66904
although I just got it on and have not used it, I am more confident that it will work better then the bumper hitch! (sorry I put the wrong picture in first) 103852

First time ordering from eTrailer but it I'm sure it will not be the last time. The search process for a hitch for my 1995 F150 on the website was very quick, there were several options, and the information was straight forward and easy to understand. The hitch arrived in only about four days and I installed the hitch without any problems thanks to the clear instructions and the video that was on the website. Thanks for all the help.121469

Super fast shipping! I chose the 3-5 day shipping and it arrived 2 days later! Excellent communication as far as receiving emails about order updates and shipping information. Great product and super easy to install. Proper drill bits and drill are needed of course but after the holes were drilled it only took about 15 minutes to connect the hitch to the frame. 95216

Great customer service, The first hitch I ordered would not fit due to the frame dimension which was wider than the hitch. Called back and figured out which hitch would fit and they paid freight to send the first one back. Good quality product and easy installation. Thank you82645

I was looking for a receiver hitch for my 1987 F-250 that wouldn't interfere with my spare. I had to replace my bumper which was a ugly 10 in drop. (This won't fit the 10 in drop unless you make a cutout for the receiver) I picked up a stock, better looking bumper for 30 bucks. There where no holes in my frame so I removed the rivets, opened those hole and had to drill 4 more holes for the install. The hitch is the heaviest hitch I have seen and well worth the money. Free shipping and it was at my door in less than a week. 81631
Hitch was/is VERY sturdy. Installation was fairly easy; hardest part was hold it up to temporarily attach in order to drill holes for hardware. Once on it is SOLID. Excellent buy. Great deal on Shipping. Highly recommend to all.72236
