Placed my order online on Friday (late afternoon). Received my hitch on Tuesday! The hitch was exactly what I expected it to be. Plus, etrailer upgraded my shipping at no extra cost - great service! Also found the same hitch elsewhere for less (total delivered cost) and etrailer promptly credited my order with 110% of the difference. Again- great service! Installation was pretty easy. Great instructions! It took about 1.5 hours. It looks nice too with only a small amount of the round metal tube showing next to the receiver. I still have to install the wiring kit, but based on what I've seen instruction-wise, I am guessing that will go smoothly also. Thanks etrailer for your quality and prompt service!23271

Installation was not so easy. Cutting the heat shield was no big deal. My main problem was that the hitch receiver hit the bumper. I had to cut a 3/8" notch out of the bumper so that the hitch could clear. Note from my picture that the notch is not centered - make sure you completely bolt up the hitch before cutting - I used a Dremel and file. Its not critical that its a clean cut - you really don't see it. Also, the spare hits the hitch if it were in its normal position. Probably no big deal, but the spare position is shifted with the hitch installed. Due to having to cut the bumper, I have to rate the install as difficult. If it weren't for that, it would have been a 40 minute job - it took me over 2 hours. The hitch does look good once installed though. 12784

The receiver arrived extremely fast albeit a huge package. The directions for installation included vehicle specific good quality color photos along with specific instructions for the installation. As noted there was some trimming to the heat shield along the passenger side frame rail that needed to be done but this was a simple task with some hand shears and could possibly be done with some strong scissors and the heat shield is just thin aluminum. The bolts all went in without a problem, added a little anti-seize for good measure. Overall the process took about 45 mins with two people including the light harness hookup. The receiver is tucked right up to the bottom of the bumper and shows minimal tubing on each side giving it a very clean look from the rear. My only gripe is the receiver tubing does interfere with the spare tire slightly pushing it forward a little. The tire can still tuck all the way up to the underside of the body as it should it just rests against the receiver tube and I wonder if over time the black paint will get worn through from vibration. Only time will tell. Overall I am extremely satisfied with the simple installation and the look of the receiver from the rear. Highly recommend!!!!40320

Installation of hitch and full wiring harness went smoothly. No issues that others had mentioned, didn't have to drill out frame or cut away at center of bumper. Also, had plenty of wire, didn't have to splice any additional...trick was to hug the inside of bumper. Watching videos helped to simplify the installation, along with a little patience. Toughest part was to fish the wiring up through the passenger side tail light opening, bent coat hanger worked well. Would strongly recommend etrailer, price was reasonable and installation straightforward.35561

I have a 2012 Sorento EX V6. Hitch is sturdy and looks nice when installed. Pushes up against the bumper a little bit, but my bumper is plastic so I wasn't concerned about this. You should know that once the tow hitch is installed, it will be a bit of a squeeze to get the spare-tire into the spare tire compartment. This isn't a big deal, you just need to first tuck the front of the tire above the hitch then wind the cable, pulling the rest of the tire up against the bottom chassis. One down side is that when using this hitch you CANNOT put a full-size tire into the spare tire compartment (e.g. if you have a flat tire or you just wanted a full-size spare). I believe without the hitch, a full-size tire would fit into the spare compartment. Maybe a different hitch from etrailer will have a different shape that would allow you to fit a full-size tire into the spare tire compartment.26866

The hitch installs without excess frustration, and look very discreet. The hitch interferes with the mini spare tire though. The cable that pull up the spare ends up tweaked to one side, and the lifter plate ends up skewed. Curt could bend the tubing on one side to give more clearance with upsetting the aesthetics. Room for a full size spare would be even better.80057

The appearance of this hitch is worth the extra install steps in my opinion compared to the Hidden Hitch or Draw Tite. Two people makes it much easier to install. It pushed up on the bottom of the bumper a little bit but not enough to require trimming on a 2012 Santa Fe. In order to torque the cross bolt on the passenger side I had to have a long extension to get over the top of the muffler. The spare tire rubs on the tube a little bit but I still able to get it back under the SUV. Great looking product.78183

The main thing here is that I am very satisfied with the hitch itself, looks great and appears to be a very sturdy construction. HOWEVER, here are some things you need to be aware of when buying this particular product. The hitch is pushing against the bottom of the rear bumper quite a bit (pushes it up approx. 1 inch), and actually deforms (without damaging it!) the bumper. Secondly, it also pushes against the spare tire underneath the car. Therefore, installation is not just holding it up and bolting it in place, it actually requires a lot of PUSHING up and bolting it in place. And finally, when it comes to the trimming of the heatshield above the muffler, don't think you will have a ton of room by lowering the muffler. Again, a lot of pushing and pulling is required and I actually never managed to get the heat shield out from above the muffler without detaching the muffler completely. I ended up trimming the heat shileld while hanging loosely between car and muffler. So, all in all, I can definitely recommend the hitch, but the few cues the item description gives you are only telling half the truth about the installation.59445

I have a 2011 4cyl Sorento and everything went really smoothly putting this on my car. I am handy around the house, but I never do anything on the cars, so it took me a while to get the courage to just do it. I did have to cut the heat shield and move the exhaust and tire out of the way, no big deal once I did it. I didn't have to cut any of the exterior trim as it snugged right up under the bumper and fit perfectly. It came with a few nicks in the metal but I am not concerned about it at all. Anyway, just wanted to let the women out there know - you can do this (I did have help holding the part in place while bolting it on)! It took me about 2 hours but I was watching my kids and doing laundry and listening to a good podcast at the same time. E-trailer was great.57193

Very easy to install. Took about 1.5 hours by the time you remove the muffler & spare tire and trim the heat shield. Very clean look - tucks up right the bumper and very little is visible besides the receiver. The nice thing about this hitch is you do not have to fish parts through the frame rails, everything is bolt up and go. Installation of hitch, wiring harness, and bracket took about 1 hour. Instructions were very accurate as were the pictures. It goes much easier with someone helping. Hint: use a small rope to fish wiring harness module through tail light housing. Check underneath the drivers side by rear wheel for 2 wiring plugs, this will indicate your Sorento is pre-wired for hitch. Wiring harness plugged in perfectly, except smaller plug needed about 1 inch more wiring to be easier to plug in. Lastly spare tire will rub up against hitch, making removal and installation of spare tire a little tricky. The hitch and harness look professionally installed, very easy to do. This product is a breeze to install. It looks way nicer than the Hidden Hitch/Draw Tight options. I was slightly concerned with lowering the muffler and altering the heat shield, but this process took no time if you follow the video on etrailer (great video). I did this on my own with the vehicle slightly raised for better access. I paired this with the OEM wire harness and the total time to install was about 2 hours. Compare the price to what a retailer would charge for installation and you save some big bucks. The only functional limitation is the inability to use this hitch with a weight distribution system, but I don't think that's an issue if you're towing with a Sorento.42458

Recieved Curt hitch and OEM wiring from Curt for 2011 Santa Fe. Order was received in 3 business days exactly as advertised. Totally bolt on, no mods required with the exception of trimming the heatshield, which only needs trimmed a few inches, I trimmed a 4x4 section at the rear corner, as I bolted the hitch on without the shield, then only trimmed the shield so it would fit. The half inch bolt they talk about having to enlarge the whole for, fit without having to enlarge the whole. Wiring kit was also ez to install. One could perform this install with 3 wrenches (10mm, 17mm, 19mm), one phillips head and one straight screw driver and a pair of tin snips. It was a little rough to get the hitch in place by myself, tough getting it between the bumber and the muffler. I didn't have the vehicle jacked up but with a little wiggling was able to get it over the muffler, which holds that end in place, so you can lift the other end and get a bolt in it if you are doing it on your own. Took me about an hour and a half, taking my time. Could not imagine using any of the other hitches for any reason. Fit was perfect, and was well built. It also looks great.41548

A lot of times, exhaust hangers are not the exact same shape or in the same location. Although hitchexhaust rattle is not the norm, it is also not unheard of. This is a Quality trailer hitch. Good quality gloss black paint, strong welds and thickwalled tubular steel. I installed it on my 20011 Hyundai Santa Fe.Took my time and finished in an hour. the heat shield is easy to cut with heavy duty scissors. Product was received very quickly and is of great quality. It is very solid, anchored to the vehicle so it will never-ever come off and was reasonable to install. The online video said it would take 20 minutes to install. The instructions said 30 minutes. The reality is, it took about 2 hours to install. That's OK though, the quality of this product made it worth it. You really do need a torque wrench to install this. The bolts require 75 ft-lb of torque and you really can't estimate that without a torque wrench.32008

I bought this hitch for my son, and he and I installed it in less than two hours. He was mostly on his back on the ground. I was mostly talking to him, while he did the work. But it was really good to have two people lift it into place and slide the bolts in. It went really well, the instructions were clear, and the unit fit well. About 3/8" gap better than too tight. There were some scratches in the surface coating, which we sprayed over with primer. No need to cut the bumper as we read one guy did. Too bad for him.28723

Easy to install and no drilling was necessary. As long as all bolts are started before tightening any of them, they all go in as specified. The unit does push up on the bottom of the bumper, but I do not see that as an issue at this point. 23333

I'd say the installation was moderate in difficulty! There was no cutting of the bumper or removal of sparetire to complete the job..However I used a professional to do it right.. Nice looking hitch when installed, not quite as easy as I expected. I read that this one required more work than the comparable Hidden Hitch alternatives, but I liked the way it tucked up under the vehicle better. Dropping the spare tire and disconnecting the muffler (not just the rubber hanger brackets, but the bolts to the main tailpipe as well) was required to get this in place. I didn't have to trim the plastic fascia on the bumper, but the hitch does push on it - just not enough to distort it visually from the rear of the vehicle. The spare tire (SE Model w/ 18" tires) does NOT go back into position afterwards (this was warned about in other reviews). I'll need to check on that to make sure it's staying in place for a few weeks until I get the confidence that it isn't going to fall off - but based upon other peoples reviews I don't expect a problem. If I had it to do over, I'd still get this unit for the tucked-under look. If I wanted a faster, simpler install and didn't care about how it looked - I'd get the Hidden Hitch.52061
