Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Today on this 2004 Chevrolet 2500 HD we are going to install Reese part number DT45022. This is a tightened receiver hitch. The first steps involved if it has a factory hitch on there go ahead and remove that and disconnect the factory wiring which we had to do in this case. Now we are down to the bare frame and we will show you what hardware needs to be removed. See this bolt here at the end of the frame. We are going to go ahead and take that out on both sides. Now these two bolts here are for the bumper bracket so just for now we will go ahead and take those out. 00:31
Go ahead and repeat the same thing back on the other side. Check out the bolts now. What is going to happen is between the frame and this bumper bracket that comes off to the side there is going to be a strap that goes in between the two but when the bumper bracket goes into the bumper itself we have got to loosen this bolt right here and also the one below it. That way we can swing our bracket out of the way. Actually you are doing the one right there that gives a lot of wiggle room alone. We will go ahead and do the same thing back over on the passenger side. We are at the point now where you actually put the hitch on the frame. 01:05
What you are going to do is use this 14 millimeter bolt, lock washer. The bolts we are going to install towards the end of the frame we are going to use this 3/ 8 block. This one here is 1/ 4 inch block so do not get those confused when you install it. These will go towards the front of the vehicle and the heavier locks will go towards the back. Lets go ahead and hang the hitch. This thing is pretty heavy so get an extra set of hands to help you out with it. Back over on the driver side of the frame we are going to install our hardware that is going to use the 3 inch block and the fine thread bolt and just that through the frame. On the bottom we are going to use that 1/ 4 inch block we just talked about earlier then a lock washer and a fine thread nut. Now we have the forward hardware installed. Now getting back to the rear of the frame again we will install this strap or bracket. It is going to go between the bumper bracket and we are using the old bolts so we are going to put it back through. We are leaving everything loose. Now we will install our hardware going through here into the hitch. Repeat the same steps back over on the other side. Once we have got all of our bolts installed and we have snugged them down then we will go ahead and torque them down as specified in the instructions. With that that finishes our install part number DT45022.

Shipped same day as ordered. Hitch fit perfectly on 2001 2500HD. I have a Banks 4 inch exhaust and the rear hanger had to be lengthened slightly to provide clearance. Appears very well built, and instructions are a helpful addition. 19461
