Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Today on this 2010 Chevrolet Equinox we are going to be installing part number 75681 from Draw-Tite. This also applies to Hidden Hitch part number 87572. The first thing we need to do is remove the lower bumper fascia in the center of our bumper. Since we are working on the Chevrolet Equinox, all of the other models do not have this fascia to remove. To remove this, just take the clip here that is holding it in on both the left and right side and pinch it down. Pull it down like that. Then you can set that aside because we will not be using that. 00:41

Next we are going to show you the different mounting locations we are going to be using to put our hitch up. On the side of the unit body itself there is going to be two existing weld nuts right next to the bumper support. That is going to be the same on the driver side of the vehicle and then the other mounting location for our side bracket is going to be the large existing hole at the bottom of our unit body. Then, if you look to the middle of your bumper you can see that there is also two more existing weld nuts right in the center right above where the fascia that we took off. That is also where we are going to be attaching our hitch to. 01:17

To drop our hardware into place this is actually going to be pretty simple. We are going to take the bolt leader that was provided in the kit and we are going to do what is called reverse pull. We are going to be using the 1-1/ 2 by 3 block and carriage bolt and all we do is put the block over the bolt leader, thread in our carriage bolt, and push our hardware up into place and pull right back down through. We are going to do the same thing on the driver side of the vehicle. The next step we are going to do is put our hitch in position. It is best to have a second set of hands to help you hold it up so you do not push your carriage bolts back through the unit body. Then we are going to take our block and 12 millimeter bolts with our conical tooth washers and thread them into the remaining attachment points where our existing weld nuts are. 02:15

Now that we have all of our hardware in position we are going to tighten down and torque as specified in the instructions. Now we are going to take a couple of measurements for you to ensure the clearances for your hitch accessories. From the center of the hitch pin hole out to the edge of the bumper is going to be approximately 4 inches. From the ground to the top of the receiver tube opening is going to be approximately 13-3/ 4 inches. This will conclude the installation for part number 75681 on this 2010 Chevrolet Equinox.

Nice Draw-tight Hitch and wiring package. Generally I was pleased with it and I installed it relatively quickly. My only nit was the rectangular retainers which fit at the rear just above the hitch connector itself were 1/4 inch too big to fit into the oval slots adjacent to the bolt holes. I had to grind them down. Also had to grind the bolt heads slightly to fit in these same slots. Other than that it went easily. Wiring kit is especially easy to install. 79295

Product arrived promptly. I installed it relatively easy. Of the 6 bolts 4 went smoothy and 2 needed some he-man cranking. Installed my bike rack and ready for some mountain biking in remote places!44635

I ordered a Draw-Tite receiver hitch, #75681, for my 2011 GMC Terrain on Tuesday. I received it on Thursday and installed it on Friday. The free shipping was great and much faster than I expected. Your price was the best I found on the internet. The hitch fit like a glove and was easy to install, even by myself. I could not be happier with etrailer's service and Draw-Tite. Thank you very much! 43340

I know the product works, I was just miss led by the picture. I have a 05 equinox and was hoping it would fit in the hidden cut out space made by the factory for a hitch. If I knew it didn't fit up in there, like the picture, instead it sits below bumper, I would have bought a cheaper one to save me some money. But other than that it's a good product.24030

Fits like a glove. Well designed and built. Easy bolt in installation (made real easy when the nut are already welding in the vehicle's frame). Only complaint is some of the powder caot paint was chipped due to poor handling in the warehouse.2677

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch

  • Availability of a Trailer Hitch that Will Fit a 2011 Chevy Equinox
  • There are a couple of trailer hitches that have been confirmed to fit your 2011 Chevy Equinox, but the Draw-Tite hitch, # 75681, has not been one of those confirmed. instead, take a look at Curt trailer hitch # C12291. • Which Trailer Hitch Will Be Least Visible on a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
  • All the hitches we offer for your 2011 Chevrolet Equinox have similar designs, and they are actually going to fit in nearly the same location. There is a center panel in the center of your vehicle bumper that will be removed for the hitch installation, and the hitch receiver opening will fit up into the space that is left when the panel is removed. Because of this, the hitches for your vehicle are all going to be mostly hidden. The same hitches that fit your vehicle also fit some similar models
