Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2007 Cadillac CTS - Hidden Hitch

Today on this 2007 Cadillac CTS, we're going to install part number 60830, from Hidden Hitch. This is what the hitch looks like once it's installed on our Cadillac, next we'll give you some measurements, then help out selecting some accessories. Such as the bicycle rack, or our cargo carrier. From top of the receiver opening down to the ground will be about 10", and from the center of the hitch pinhole to outside edge of your bumper is going to be about 6 3/4". Now, we'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. To start off to install, we need to get inside the trunk area, we need to remove the floor coverings to get down to the bare metal by your spare tire. Take off the spare tire cover first, and then we can go ahead and remove the threshold.

Now, there are 4 tie down points on the threshold that we have to simply unscrew to remove the threshold. Next, we'll go ahead and take the carpet, roll it forward and push up out of the way, so we can have access to the bare metal. Now, we need to get underneath the car, and we'll go ahead and lower the exhaust to give us some more working room. This is a dual exhaust model, so there's going to be 3 exhaust hangers on tail that we're going to lower. 1 behind the muffler and then 2 by the tailpipe. We'll spray it down with some lubricant, and then we'll pry them off and lower them out of the way.

We'll also use a strap to help hold our exhaust up while we do this, and then we're going to lower it using the strap. Now with next set of hands, we'll go ahead and lift the hitch up in position, and then we're going to hold it there and some marks for holes we need to drill. It's also good to use a floor jack or some device to help hold it up while we make our marks. What we're going to do using spray paint to mark our holes. Then we'll go ahead and lower it out of the way .. and then using the extra long 1/4" drill bit, we'll go ahead and drill our pilot 00:02:07 holes.

Then we'll get inside the trunk and then drill out our final holes size. Now final hole size will be 1/2". With our holes drilled, we're almost ready to install the hitch. We'll go ahead and show you how the hardware works the hitch first before we install it. We'll have our plate that goes on the inside of a trunk pan, now you notice 2 holes are offset on the plate, the longer end will always face towards the front of the vehicle. Then our carriage will also go through the center, then it will go through a trunk pan, and then through the hitch.

Then underneath the hitch we'll get a lock washer and a nut, this will be the same thing on the passenger side. Our next step is to go ahead and apply some sealant through the holes. Then we will install our hardware. Also it's a good idea to put some weight on top of the plates and bolts to help hold it in there while we install the hitch. With the next to set of hands one more time, we'll go ahead and push the hitch back up into position, and then we can install our hardware. A lock washer and nut. Once we have all of our hardware installed, we'll go ahead and tighten it down, and then to work the bolts down as best by instructions. Then we can go ahead and re-install the exhaust. Then take out our weight out of the inside of the trunk, and go ahead and re-install the floor coverings. With that, that'll finish it for our install part number, 60830 on a 2007 Cadillac CTS. .

I bought a trailer hitch for a Cadillac CTS, and although I didn't install it yet it looks pretty straightforward, I was glad for the quick shipping and the product looks to be of good quality, it was also nice that they provided me tracking information. I will know more in when I install this . 108777

Do you have a question about this Trailer Hitch?

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2010 Cadillac CTS
  • The location and visibility of a trailer hitch on your 2010 Cadillac CTS will be almost identical between Curt, # C11307, Hidden Hitch, # 60830, and Draw-Tite, # 24767. Each of these trailer hitches use the same mounting location and have practically the same dimensions. For an exact measurement, the end of the receiver from the Curt hitch will actually sit 1/8 of an inch closer to the rear edge of the bumper. As far as aesthetics are concerned, I agree that the Curt hitch has a more...

  • Trailer Hitch, Hitch Ball, and Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2010 Cadillac CTS
  • For the 2010 Cadillac CTS sedan (excluding the CTS-V), the Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitches are made by the same company, so apart from the name they are the same with the exception that the Hidden Hitch comes with a drawbar, hitch pin and clip. The Curt hitch has a very similar design but its installation is a little more difficult. So for a quicker install, I would go with the Draw-Tite or Hidden Hitch. Both the Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch have the same specifications: Class I, 1-1/4 inch,...

  • How Hidden is the Hidden Hitch # 60830 on a 2006 Cadillac CTS
  • While this Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch, part # 60830, is mostly out of plain site, it is not completely hidden. Hidden Hitch is actually the brand name for this hitch. If you want to get an idea of what this hitch looks like installed check out the video I attached below. At this time we do not have any pictures of the hitch installed but you can get a pretty good idea by watching the installation video. I could not safely recommend that you cut off a portion of the hitch and then...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2011 Cadillac CTS Sedan With Removable Ball Mount
  • It sounds like you want a trailer hitch with a ball mount and hitch ball that can be removed. There are trailer hitches available for your 2011 Cadillac CTS Sedan that will allow you to use a 2 inch ball on a removable ball mount. The trailer hitch that I would recommend for you is the Hidden Hitch Class I Trailer Hitch, # 60830. This hitch comes with a ball mount and a pin and clip. You would only need to add the hitch ball. For a 2 inch hitch ball, use part # 19258. If you want a 1-7/8...

  • Comparing The Available Trailer Hitches For A 2008 Cadillac CTS
  • All of the hitches available for the 2008 Cadillac CTS have the same characteristics in terms of towing and tongue weight capacity. Each hitch has a 2000 pound towing capacity and 200 pound tongue weight capacity. Where they differ is the towing components included with the hitch. The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 24767, which is the lower priced hitch, does not include a drawbar, pin or clip. The Curt Hitch, part # 11307, which is the highest priced hitch for your vehicle includes...

  • Why are Stabilizing Straps Required For Bike Racks on Curt Trailer Hitch # 11307, 2005 Cadillac STS
  • The Curt Manufacturing warranty requires that a stabilizing strap be used on all non-trailer loads on their Class I and II trailer hitches, like # 11307 for your 2005 Cadillac STS. The purpose of the strap is to relieve some of the stress on the trailer hitch associated with bike racks and cargo carriers. If you decide to go with the Curt hitch, you can use Curt Bike Rack Strap with Cambuckle, # 18050. Or, you can use a ratchet strap like # 1157300, or basically any strap that will...
