Today on our 2006 Acura TL well be installing Hidden Hitch, part number 60814. This is what our hitch will look like once its installed. Next well go ahead and take a couple measurements to assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of the bumper is six and a half inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is nine and three quarter inches. This will assist you with selecting accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier.Now let go ahead with installation.
Note before we begin the installation weve already gone ahead and removed the spare tire and contents from the spare tire well. Now to begin the installation well first need to remove the underbody trip panel. There are multiple fasteners that will need to be removed. The underbody trim panel and a majority of the fasteners will not be reinstalled. However, where the bumper fascia meets a bumper fascia bracket you will need to reinstall those pushpin fasteners.
Well have a total of three attachment points for this hitch, one at the manufacturers tow hook and two that well be drilling through the spare tire well trunk pan. The hardware to attach the hitch to the tow hook will be the half inch bolt, three metal spacers, split lock washer and half inch nut. Hardware for the drill holes going through the trunk pan will be our half inch carriage bolt and block, securing with a split lock washer and half inch nut.Now lets go ahead and put our hitch in place. Well take our bolt, go through the hitch and through two of the spacer blocks. Then well go through the tow hook, adding the third spacer block and securing it with the split lock washer and nut.
Making sure our blocks are lined up as per the instructions, well now go ahead and tighten up our fastener to hold the hitch in position so that we can use the hitch as a template to drill out the two holes in the trunk pan. Before we install the carriage bolt and block, its highly recommended to use sealant to seal up the holes to prevent exhaust and water from intruding into the vehicle.Now with our sealant in place well go ahead and install the carriage bolt and block. Now well get back underneath the vehicle well install the split lock washer and nut for both fasteners and tighten them down. Next well go ahead and torque our fasteners to specifications as indicated in the instructions.Now with our hitch secured and torqued to specifications that will complete the install of our Hidden Hitch, part number 60814 on our 2006 Acura TL.

This was so easy to install, I went to a local hitch place to ask about putting a hitch 0n my car, it was going to cost me twice as much and take a week to get the hitch in. I ordered the same hitch from etrailer.com and received it in 2 days and took me an hour to install myself. From now on when I need an hitch I with order it from etrailer.com and install it myself. also the wiring was easy, the hardest part about that was putting the trim back. P.S. remember to order the ball and ball mount with it so you have the matching correct size for this hitch.78388

Exact fit, and goes on easy. Easy to follow instructions make the install quick. The three point connection makes it good and secure, should not be a problem towing 1000-1500lbs. Should exactly what I need to bring my motorcycle with me on long trips, or tow my older two seat waverunner down to the river.76140

The trailer hitch was easy to install on my Acura TL (2005). The whole process took about 1 hour and that included the wiring harness that I also ordered from eTrailer. I am very pleased with the entire process from ordering to installation. I installed the trailer hitch to tow my ATV and for general light duty use. The trailer is 6X8 and weighs about 400 lbs. The ATV weighs 700 lbs. I can tow the trailer and ATV with no problems. The car handles just fine. Again, very satisifed. 43865
