Today were going to take a quick look at the Redline A-frame Coupler part number ca5400. This couplers designed to work with standard 50 degree A-frame trailer frames. Its a direct weld on design where youll weld along the edge of the coupler to that trailers frame. Its designed to be used again with two and five sixteenth balls and it has an overall gross trailer weight capacity of 14,000 pounds and a towing capacity of 2100 pounds. Theres a built in jack mount with a large hole cut for the body of the jack and the threaded mounts for the bolt. Now well show you how this latch works.
To operate the latch well pull up and then back. Underneath it opens our wedge to allow the ball to move in and out of the coupler. We slide the wedge forward and the latch moves back into place. Weve got a ball with us so we can show you how that works with an actual ball. We lift up on our latch and slide the mechanism back.
Fit our ball into the socket, push forward on our latch and now our ball is captive inside the coupler. Lift the latch up, pull it back and the ball comes free. Now theres a hole here in the side of our latch that we can use with a coupler lock to secure the latch, prevent it from opening and also help protect against theft when storing the trailer. The price's at etrailer are great. The trailer Coupler I purchased looks to be better quality than what my trailer was built with.
