Today were going to review part number fhdpw340300. This is the Fulton Fold Away Coupler hinge kit for three inch by four inch trailer tongues. It is a weld on application. This hinge kit will let you create up to a 48 inch fold away tongue for your trailer so that your trailer can even be stored in the smallest garage. It is designed to be used with achewaters our standard couplers. This is a weld on installation.

It is made of a sturdy steel construction. It does have a raw finish. The pivot bolt, which is this right here, and the pivot pin and clip are included. Now this hinge kit is not for use on aluminum trailer frames. The part is made in the USA.

I mentioned this is for a three inch by four inch trailer tongue. Basically the measurement would be three inches wide and four inches tall. This part does have a five year limited warranty. Basically the way you would unlatch it is you would just pull the clip, pull the pin out. Now while this is on your trailer your tongue will fold away to the side of the trailer.

Now Fulton does recommend when installing this male casting which is the part that has the center casting right here that this should be attached to the stationary part of the trailer tongue. This part here, the female casting part with the arms on both ends, that should be installed on the fold away section of the tongue. It can be mounted this way or 180 degrees to fold this way. They do recommend that you should always install this male casting to the stationary part of the trailer. Now just put your pin back, secure it with the clip and youre ready to go.

Now the capacity on this is rated up to 7,500 pounds. The actually capacity will vary depending on the pivot length of your fold away tongue. Basically when I say pivot length what that would be is where your coupler is you would measure from the center line of the coupler ball to the furthest pivot hole from the coupler which will be this one right here. That measurement will determine the weight capacity of this hinge kit. If you use the maximum fold away portion that you can use on this would be 48 inches. If it measures 48 inches from the center of the coupler ball to this furthest pivot point then that would give you a weight rating or capacity of 4,000 pounds. The minimum would be is if you measured your pivot length and it was 27 inches then that would give you your maximum weight capacity of 7,500 pounds. The best thing to do would be to go to the product page for this part number. Youll see at the bottom of the page well have a chart listed. That chart will list whatever the measurement of your pivot length would be. It would should you what the weight capacity would be for the hinge kit at that length.
