Video Transcript for Dutton-Lainson Trailer Coupler DL13847 Review

Today we'll be doing a review on part number DL13847, a Dutton-Lainson Trailer Coupler for a 2" Hitch Ball that will fit on a 2-1/2" Channel Tongue. This is a bolt-on coupler. It uses a Quick-Lock ball clamp assembly with a trigger latch. This coupler has a weight capacity of 3,500 pounds. It has a zinc TUFFPLATE finish, which will offer three times the corrosion resistance, as compared to a regular zinc plate finish. Couple of measurements we will give you on this.

The width will be 2-1/2" and fits a 2-1/2" channel tongue. Other measurement is the dimension, from center-to-center of the bolt holes on the side, and measure 3". This coupler is made in the U.S.A. And that should do it for a review on part number DL13847.

  • Ball and Coupler Recommendation for a Trailer with 2-1/2 inch Channel
  • One idea would be for you to install the Dutton-Lainson Trailer Coupler # DL13847 that you referenced since it will match the 2.5 inch channel and 2.5 inch distance between bolts, and then get a 1-7/8 inch ball for your ball mount and you should be ready to go. I attached a page that has all of the 1-7/8 inch balls we offer and an FAQ page on hitch balls for you to check out. Another option you have is to install a Fulton Fas-Lok Coupler # F222500301 by having it welded on. That way you would
