All right. Today on this flatbed trailer were going to install part number RR5K. This is Brophys Recessed Trailer D Ring, the tiedown kit with the backing plate and hardware. In this case, were going to install into the floor, onto the plank. Were going to center up as best as possible. Well be using the backing plate first.

Now, on the backing plate, well make some marks at the center of our holes. Then well put our backing plate into location on the bed and well go ahead and make a cross in the middle of it to find our exact center. At the exact center well go ahead and drill out a 1/4 inch pile hole. All right. To drill out our hole for the D ring were going to use a 3 inch hole saw.

On our hole saw were going to make a mark on it to give us a gauge so we dont go all the way through the wood. In this case its going to be about 5/8 inch. Well drill down through it a bit until we hit our mark. Well take out the hole saw and then well use a chisel to chip out the wood. Now, well keep chipping it out until we get to the bottom and we do some test fits with the D ring to make sure it fits flush on top of the bed.

When you carve it out, one end will have to be a little bit deeper than the other to accomodate the hinge. Once we have it in place, well go ahead and mark out our four holes. Well use a drill bit to do that with, and the holes were going to drill are about 3/8 inch. Well mark our holes then drill them out. Well put the D ring back into place and a bolt and well take our backing plate and go underneath the trailer and put it in place.

Now, in this case, our backing plate is going to tuck up a little bit underneath the wood and the steel frame. Were going to tap it in place and then run our bolt through. All right. And then well get another one run through. Now the holes will be a little bit off so try to go for two holes that will line up and well install our hardware to hold the backing plate in place. Then well use a drill bit to clean out the other two holes. Then well go ahead and install the hardware which will be a lock washer and a nut, and then well go ahead and tighten it down. Well also make sure the carriage bolts are sitting securely into the square slots into the D ring on top. And with that, that will finish it for our install of part number RR5K from Brophy on this flatbed trailer.

I bought these tie downs to provide additional motorcycle strap attachment points on an Aluma MC210 trailer because the rear set of tie down points on the trailer are to far rearward. They seem to be very good quality, and the included backer plate worked perfect. They are almost an exact match for the tie downs that came on the trailer.64255
