Today we are going to look at the TruRyde Electric Brake Assembly 12 for the left hand side, part number TRBK12E01. This is a 12 by 2 brake assembly. We can measure across the brake shoes for our 12 figure, and then we will measure the width of the shoes, and thats where we get our 2. This brake assembly when paired with the opposite side are good for axels up to 7,000 pounds. Its also covered by a 1 year limited warranty. It uses a 5 stud mounting pattern, so you need to check the axel on your trailer to make sure that you have the correct pattern.
There are a pair of wires that you will need to hook up to operate the magnet. It doesnt matter which you use for ground and which you use for brake feed, so as long as you have a solid electrical connection. This is a manual adjust brake, so over time as the shoes wear, you will need to adjust the tension to make sure you have proper braking pressure. To do this you will rotate the star wheel to expand this pin, and expand the shoes. This is an electric brake assembly, and the way it works is as you brake in the tow vehicle current is sent to this magnet and it is charged.
It becomes magnetized and it adheres against the drum rotating around it. As the drum rotates, the drag on the magnet activates this arm, and it will open the brake assembly up, applying pressure to the drum. Again this is an electrical system so you want to make sure you are not going to use it on boat trailers or marine applications. The way to identify which is left hand and which is right hand is that you will always make sure that the shorter shoe is facing the nose of the trailer, and the longer shoe is on the back of the trailer. And that does it for the TruRyde Electric Brake Assembly 12 for the left hand side, part number TRBK12E01..

Received 3/7/13, installed 3/14/13. Lost braking power yesterday 4/18/13. Took drum assembly apart to inspect brakes. After just barely over a months use and they are down to the metal? I've been doing this(pulling freight on 6-7klb axle trailer) for 10 years and generally get a years use per set. Drums were replaced with shoes. Must have gotten a bad batch this time.76894

I bought 4 of these kits for my car hauler! Came with everything i needed and it was nice that its all assembled on delivery. I have read some reviews about the mounting bolts not being with the kit. That was not an issue for me because i just reused the old ones. installed in a couple hours and adjusted and works great so far. Cant beat it for the price.76402

Servicing and upgrading old Ferree Trailer out of NC here in Arkansas. Appears to have two 7,000 pound axles with Dexter electric five hole brakes. When pulling the fourth hub we discover no parts, nada, nothing. Etrailer has the Dexter, but we spied and called Heather about this Tru-Ryde an exact replacement. She supplied this complete left side brake setup for one side, left. It fit perfectly, works like a charm, electrical pigtails are ready to hook up. Easier than pie. I had 4-9.44 hubs on #5200 axles. When I replaced the hubs to a 8-201-90, I also replaced the brakes. Only one axle had brakes and they were shot. The other axle used to have brakes, but they were missing - nothing but spider webs. The #5200 axle is actually a derated #6000 axle, and the #7000 electric brakes are compatible with it. I installed these brakes on both axles. Very easy to install, fit perfect. The hardest part of the whole job was taking the nuts off the old rusted out brakes. So much fun that was. All new nuts/bolts/lock washers installed. Note to self: wire up the brakes PRIOR to mounting the wheels. 26663
