Roadmaster Tow Bars - 4408-1
The XL series hidden brackets attach to the towed vehicle's frame and provide attachment points for tow bars. The visible portions of the brackets can be removed when you are not towing.

The square drawbars, or front arms, on the XL series base plate kit are simple to mount and remove, easily securing with hitch pins. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most vehicles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.

- I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster and he stated that the Falcon Tow Bar 5250 is compatible with the XL Base Plates, # 4408-1, for the 2011 Ford Edge. Please note that the base plates will only work if the vehicle DOES NOT have adaptive cruise control.
Adaptive cruise control uses a forward facing radar that detects vehicles in front of you and adjusts the cruise control speed so that the Edge remains at a safe distance from the vehicle in front.

- Falcon 5250 Tow Bar Will Not Latch
- I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster and he stated that the most likely problem with your Falcon 5250 Tow Bar not latching is the Autowlok button or buttons will need to be replaced. he said that often times the spring inside goes bad over time and replacing the mechanism will solve the problem. We do carry the repair kit, # RM-910003-50, and I have included a link to the installation details for you.

- The Roadmaster Base Plates, # 4408-1, do fit the 2008 Ford Edge. As far as installation Roadmaster does state that installation requires moderate mechanical aptitude and skills. They strongly recommend professional installation by an experienced installer. The installation of these base plates does require remove the front exterior body panels of the vehicle. - If you have the cross bar and quick disconnects from your Roadmaster Falcon 5250 tow bar then you will be able to connect it directly to the 4408-1 Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit which is the correct base plate kit for your 2009 Ford Edge.
If your tow bar has Blue Ox adapters or you no longer have the cross bar and quick disconnects then you will need the QD Base Assembly Kit, part number 910021-00, that includes includes both car and motorhome QDs, crossbar, linch pins and base pins.
