Ball-In-Socket Flex Joint

Tow bars are notoriously difficult to connect and disconnect, especially on uneven surfaces. Rigid tow bars have arms that are essentially locked in place so you have to drive your towed vehicle into the exact position necessary for hookup. But with the Aventa LX, you can connect from the approximate towing position, even on unlevel ground. The unique ball-in-socket joint allows the tow bar arms to swivel and pivot just enough to compensate for a slight height difference. And because it's a spherical joint as opposed to the traditional, bolt-together flex joint, there will be less wear and tear on your tow bar over time.

Self-Aligning Design

The convenient, self-centering arms help to make hookup a snap as well. Once you have connected the tow bar to the base plates on your towed vehicle, simply drive your RV forward until the tow bar arms fully extend and lock in place.

Non-Binding Release Latch

Non-Binding Tow Bar

Blue Ox has defeated the age-old problem of binding by creating a tow bar that is just as easy to release as it is to hook up. Simply press down the locking handles on the tow bar arms until the internal latch disengages. By releasing some of the static pressure from your tow bar you can flex its arms just enough to make disconnecting from the base plates a snap, even when it's out of level with your RV.

Triple-Lug Bracket

Triple-Lug Connection

Blue Ox base plates on your vehicle are equipped with two tabs each that connect to the brackets on the ends of the tow bar arms. These brackets are referred to as "lugs." The unique triple-lug design of the Aventa LX tow bar creates a tighter, more stable connection by surrounding both base plate tabs. The result is a sturdy, reinforced connection that is stronger and more rigid for a safer, more dependable towing experience.

Hooking up the Aventa LX to your base plates is as simple as it is secure. Just insert the triple-lug end of the tow bar arm into the base plate so that the center lug is positioned between the two tabs of the base plate. Then insert the 1/2" keeper pin through the lugs and tabs and secure it at the end with the included quick pin.

Simple Storage

The Aventa LX can be easily stored on your RV when it is not in use. After disconnecting the tow bar from your towed vehicle, push the arms of the tow bar together so that they are side by side. You can then fold them up toward the RV and insert the integrated hold-up bolt into place on the hitch connector. Then pivot the arms down so that they are held firmly in place alongside the RV, parallel to its bumper.

Video Transcript for Blue Ox Tow Bars BX7445 Review

Today, we're going to be reviewing part number BX7445. This is the Blue Ox Aventa LX Tow bar rated at 10,000. One of the first things I want to go over is just . As you can see, it's in a nice stored position. This tow bar is able to be stored in a very simple process. It's a nice secure storage option along the motor home.

The arms are going to fold up together just like you see them here. They're going to rotate and secure in place horizontally with integrated hold up bolt, which is secured right here inside the groove. To bring it out into a tow-ready or hook-up position, all we have to do is bring our arms up. We have to make sure that the pin is aligned. So, if you swing them to the other side, you can kind of line up that pin with the slot.

You can stow this on either side. Once you have that pin right in the center, you can actually bring the arms forward, and then, you can get ready to move it to a connected or a connection position. The tow bar is going to let you tow your vehicle safely and securely behind your motor home. It is going to come with a set of safety cable. Those are going to be included. The tow bar portion is just going to slide into the trailer hitch receiver.

It's going to fit a 2" x 2" trailer hitch receiver. It also comes with a 5/8" pin and clip that way you can secure it inside your hitch. It's going to feature the 360-degree swivel feature that's going to make it easy to connect even on unlevel terrain. That's a great advantage to have in your favor. The joint is going to allow the arms to pivot for both hook-up and storage.

The ball and socket joint is going to last a lot longer and create less wear than your traditional bolt together flex joint. It's also going to feature a self-aligning design. Once you have it hooked up to the base plate on the towed vehicle, all you have to do is drive forward, and it's going to lock the arms in place. I'll kind of show you how that works right now. If you have all this hooked up, you drive forward, and it's going to extend the arm and lock it in place. To disengage that out position, all you have to do is push in this handle, and it's going to allow the arm to go back into a stow-ready position. That's a great feature to have as well. It's going to feature the rubber boots that are going to protect the telescoping arms from dirt and grime. The portion that's going to connect to your vehicle is going to feature a triple lug connection. It's got the sturdy brackets on the end of each tow bar arm to provide reinforced connection to the base plates. Each arm is going to attach and detach from the base plate with an easy to use and easy to access pin. You can see how those removed are connected to the base plate. Reinsert your pin and then secure it with a clip on the other side. Then again, it does have that simple secure storage along the motor home, which we went over earlier. The entire unit is made out of a durable steel construction. It's going to provide a very long life for you. It's going to stand up really well against rust and corrosion. The safety cables have that nice protector around the cable portion. It's going to provide a long life. They also have on the inside here of the cable that's exposed, a nice little all steel guard, that way the cable doesn't run or rub along the hook there. The hooks have the nice cable catch or keeper on there. Once you have it installed and hooked into place, that keeper is going to keep it from disconnecting from your application. The tow bar is going to have a capacity of 10,000 pounds. It is designed for a 2" x 2" trailer hitch receivers. It is designed to fit Blue Ox base plates, but it can be adapted for use with RoadMaster base plates with a RoadMaster base plate to Blue Ox and Demco tow bar adapter, part number RM-033, and that is going to be sold separately. The entire unit is going to weigh about 42 pounds. It's pretty simple to install. It's not super heavy, that way you can adjust it as needed. If you ever need to disengage it or remove it from your R, you can easily do so by removing the 5/8" pin and clip from the hitch and pulling it out. I will say that it is a little bit easier to install and uninstall when it is up in a stowed position. Once you have that all set, you should be all set up and ready to hit the road. That's going to do it for our review of part number BX7445. This is the Blue Ox Adventa LX Tow Bar rated at 10,000 pounds. .

The Blue Ox Accessory Kit for the Aventa LX Tow Bar, the extra (2) Diodes, the Fuse By-Pass Switch, the Aventa LX Tow Bar and the Patriot Brake Unit all arrived in tact and in a timely manner. I really appreciate the help in defining what I need to tow my '09 Yukon behind our new Newmar Dutch Star. So far the wiring is complete - and works! I hope to have the Tow Bar hardware done this week - i'll try and get a picture. Thanks again! 242128

Have not taken the tow-bar out of box and installed yet, but the quality is excellent. Will install on my Fleetwood 40' diesel pusher towing a Chev Tahoe using the generic mount kit to my plow mount. More importantly the people I dealt with were excellent and knowledgeable, when I need RV items for the M/H if they sell it I'm getting them from etrailer, GREAT company. 50223

So far after 1000 miles I still have a F-350 tailgating me :-) Easy to hook up now that initial kinks worked out. Too much paint was applied and the base plate and tow bar wouldn't mate without a bit of sweat and few luv taps with a hammer. Now all is good. Thanks etrailer.com 225784

Review from a similar Blue Ox Aventa LX in Tow Bars

This heavy-duty BlueOx Aventa towbar is everything I expected. I've used an older Aventa for years. This is tops! When I ordered the towbar, I expected delivery in a week or so. The towbar arrived in two days! I am extremely impressed with the quality of the product and the excellent service I received from etrailer. I hope to return for more products. 241765

  • Flat Towing Parts Needed for a 2006 GMC Yukon XL
  • For your 2006 GMC Yukon XL you would want to first start with a base plate kit. I really like the Blue Ox setups so you would want the part # BX1660. For a tow bar you would want the Blue Ox Aventa part # BX7445. This is the nicest tow bar on the market and it comes with safety cables. For lighting you would want the part # HM56101. This kit is custom fit for your vehicle and won't require any cutting or splicing to activate your vehicle taillights. And finally, most states now...

  • Blue Ox lists base plates # BX1682 for your 2003 Chevy Suburban 1500. Please consult the vehicle owners manual prior to towing it for specific information on towing the vehicle. Given the size of the vehicle I recommend the Aventa tow bar, # BX7445. It is rated at 10,000 pounds and does include safety cables so you will not have to get any extra cables. For permanent lighting Blue Ox recommends a bulb and socket kit # BX8869. The bulb and socket kit will bypass the vehicle wiring...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2014 GMC Terrain Behind a Motor Home
  • To tow a vehicle behind a motor home with all wheels on the ground the first step is to consult the vehicle owners manual. Some vehicles have special requirements or restrictions and procedures for flat towing. If your model can be flat towed then the first thing you are going to need are base plates on the 2014 GMC Terrain. The base plates provide a proper and secure attachment point for the tow bar. Blue Ox base plates # BX1689 are listed as a fit for all models of the 2014 GMC Terrain. There...

  • Tow Bar Wiring and Tow Bar Recommendation for a 2016 Ram 1500 with Blue Ox Base Plates
  • Since there is no standard for wire color and function I recommend using the video only as a guide for the installation procedure. You will want to test the wires on your 2016 Ram 1500 using a circuit tester such as # 3808 to determine the functions and make the right connections. Base plate installations aren't easy so it's awesome that you not only took on that project yourself but also that you completed it! Well done, sir. The compatible Blue Ox tow bars that couple to a ball...

  • Can I Flat-Tow My 2003 Ford Ranger and 2004 Ford Taurus
  • From the information I found, the 2003 Ford Ranger 4x4 model that is equipped with the manual transmission is able to be flat-towed, but you would need to place the transfer case in two-wheel drive high and have the transmission in neutral. If your 2003 Ranger 4x4 has an automatic transmission it will not be able to be flat-towed and would need to be on a trailer. For the 2004 Ford Taurus, it is not able to be flat-towed.
