Swivel Function

Tow bars are notoriously difficult to connect and disconnect, especially on uneven surfaces. Rigid tow bars have arms that are essentially locked in place so you have to drive your towed vehicle into the exact position necessary for hookup. But with the Alpha, you can connect from the approximate towing position, even on unlevel terrain. The unique swivel design allows the tow bar arms to turn and pivot just enough to compensate for a slight height difference so you no longer have to worry about being on completely level ground.

Self-Aligning Design

The convenient, self-centering arms help to make hookup a snap as well. Once you have connected the tow bar to the base plates on your towed vehicle, simply drive your RV forward until the tow bar arms fully extend and lock in place.

Non-Binding Release Latch

Non-Binding Tow Bar

Blue Ox has defeated the age-old problem of binding by creating a tow bar that is just as easy to release as it is to hook up. Simply press down the locking handles on the tow bar arms until the internal latch disengages. By releasing some of the static pressure from your tow bar you can flex its arms just enough to make disconnecting from the base plates a snap, even when it's out of level with your RV.

Triple-Lug Bracket

Triple-Lug Connection

Blue Ox base plates on your vehicle are equipped with two tabs each that connect to the brackets on the ends of the tow bar arms. These brackets are referred to as "lugs." The unique triple-lug design of the Alpha tow bar creates a tighter, more stable connection by surrounding both base plate tabs. The result is a sturdy, reinforced connection that is stronger and more rigid for a safer, more dependable towing experience.

Hooking up the Alpha to your base plates is as simple as it is secure. Just insert the triple-lug end of the tow bar arm into the base plate so that the center lug is positioned between the two tabs of the base plate. Then insert the 1/2" keeper pin through the lugs and tabs and secure it at the end with the included quick pin.

Simple Storage

The Alpha can be easily stored on your RV when it is not in use. After disconnecting the tow bar from your towed vehicle, push the arms of the tow bar together so that they are side by side. You can then fold them up toward the RV and insert the integrated hold-up bolt into place on the hitch connector. Then pivot the arms down so that they are held firmly in place alongside the RV, parallel to its bumper.

Video Transcript for Blue Ox Tow Bars BX7365 Review

Today, we'll be reviewing part number BX7365. This is the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar. This is a motor home mount rated at 6,500 pounds. This tow bar is going to let you tow your vehicle safely and securely behind your motor home. This portion here slides into your two inch by two inch receiver style hitch on your RV. No ball mount is necessary, it's going to come with a 5/8 inch pin and clip.

This does have a swivel function so it actually rocks back and forth. Our little pivot mouth right here so it's going to make it very easy to connect even on unlevel terrain. This also has a self aligning design which means all you got to do is hook it up to the base plates on your towed vehicle and drive the RV forward. As you drive forward it's actually going to extend one of this arms or extend both arms and it's going to lock the arm in place in a towed position. The bring the arm back in push on that lever and you push it in far enough and it's going to secure back into a stored position. It's got the triple-lug connection here.

You can see, sturdy brackets on the end of each tow bar arm, provide reinforced connection to the base plates. Each arm is going to attach and detach from the base plate with two easy to access pins, very simple to use, they also have indicators on the outside that way you can tell that the outer most portion of the bracket is facing up and that's also going to let you understand what side of the vehicle each arm goes on. Now, other neat things I really like about the Blue OX Alpha is it's ability to store when it's not in a used position or towing application. All you have to do is disconnect it from the base plate, your vehicle and then you bring the arms up and then you bring the arms up into a upright position. This pin right here is going to fit into this slot and then as you rotate the arms over to one side, the pins are going to engage in this portion here. It's going to fold up at a 90 degree angle against the back of your RV and it's going to slant just a little bit to one side or the other for a nice sturdy position.

That's a great feature to have with this tow bar assembly. Has a really nice black powder coat finish on it so it's going to stand up really well against rusting and corrosion as the rubber boost better design to protect the telescoping arms from dirt and grime. It's also going to come with two safety cables that you can attach to the base plate on your vehicle and then loop them up to around the hitch of your RV or your motor home. This is going to offer a capacity of 6,500 pounds. Once again it's designed to fit inside a two inch by two inch trailer hitch receiver. This is compatible for Blue Ox base plates, this can be adapted for use with Roadmaster base plates with the Roadmaster base plate, the Blue Ox and Demco Tow bar adapter.

Sold separately with part number RM-033. The product itself is going to weigh right around 35 pounds so this is a great thing to install by yourself. They'll never hurt seeing extra set of hands to make sure that you're not straining yourself with installing this. The Blue Ox base plate and receiver lock kit is also available and sold separately with part number BX88101. That's going to allow you to get rid of the pins and secure them with pins and locks. Another accessory that's really great to have on hand is the Blue Ox towing accessory kit for motor home mounted tow bars. That's available and sort separately, part number BX88109, you can find all those accessories here on our website at etrailer.com. That's going to do it for today's look at part number BX7365. This is the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar. .

The Tow bar appears well made and of highest quality. We replaced the standard pin with anti-rattle locking pin and my wife made a cover on her sewing machine for the stowed position. I like the fact that it stows well out of the way and our rear RV basement door opens without interference. All the controls and joints move easy enough and all that remains is putting some miles on it. 80812

Still working well, we have knocked some paint off and sprayed a little primer back to keep it from rusting. I have seen no other product that would have been a better choice.Very happy with purchase

We purchased the Blue Ox Tow Bar to use behind our Class C Motorhome. It was easy to attach to the RV as well as the Honda Fit which we are towing. We haven't had a chance to use it since we received it, however, we have had nothing but glowing remarks about the Blue OX products from all our RV camping buds. ETrailer was very prompt in shipping this to us and even reduced the shipping time at no additional cost. We ordered this on Monday afternoon and it arrived by UPS at our residence on Thursday morning. Thanks ETrailer for your followup and your prompt shipping. 98314
