Wiring Your Towed Car with TowDaddy

This single-block-style diode system (patent pending) ensures that your RV activates your towed car's tail, brake and turn signal lights. The TowDaddy harness wires your towed car (or dinghy) with a 4-way flat connector that plugs into your RV's trailer connector. The harness hardwires into the tail lights on your Nissan Frontier. No need to install multiple diodes.

Enhanced Safety Features of TowDaddy

Increased Visibility

Your Nissan Frontier ordinarily operates on a three-wire system, wherein the brake signal and the turn signals travel along different wires to illuminate different lights. This is referred to as a "separate lighting system." When you hook up for flat towing using the TowDaddy harness, your towed car's lighting system will maintain its separate wiring setup but it will operate in a combined fashion. This means that the brake and turn signals sent by your RV to your towed car will be carried to both the brake and turn signal lights. So when your RV brakes, the brake lights and turn signal lights on your towed car will all illuminate together. And when you activate your RV's turn signal, the turn signal light and brake light on your towed car will flash in tandem. This action boosts your towed car's visibility and therefore your safety on the road. Your Nissan Frontier will still function as designed - with separate lighting - when not hooked up to your RV.

Brake Pedal Monitor Output

With the TowDaddy, you can connect your towed car's wiring directly to the RV's in-cab monitor of your supplemental braking system (sold separately) so that you will always know when your towed car is braking. By attaching the monitor to the brake pedal output on the TowDaddy module, you will be notified when your towed car is actually braking, not just when the supplemental brake system is activated. This is important because portable braking systems are not always properly aligned, and as a result, they can either be applying continuous pressure to your brake pedal or not applying enough pressure to effectively activate the brakes. Knowing when your towed car's brakes are actually being applied will help prevent costly damage to your car and give you a smoother, safer towing experience.

Built-In LEDs

Module

The six LEDs on the weather-resistant control module ensure proper installation and help to troubleshoot any problems if they arise. For example, if the towed car's tail lights are not working when it's hooked up to the RV, you can simply check the LEDs on the control module to see if the problem is due to the wiring that is (a) going into the box from the RV, (b) coming out of the box to the towed car's lights, or (c) located somewhere past the box.

  • Availability of Wiring Harness For 2013 Nissan Murano
  • The Tow Daddy Universal Wiring Kit, part # TD10000S, you have referenced is a universal design wiring harness for vehicles being flat towed. It is not a custom fit application. The Nissan Rogue is a vehicle that uses a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and will not be able to be flat towed. The front wheel drive vehicle would have to be towed with a tow dolly and the all wheel drive version would need to use a trailer. If you are going to be towing a trailer with your 2013 Nissan R

  • How to Determine the Tail Light Wire Functions on a 2006 Mini Cooper S Convertible
  • In order to determine the wiring functions behind the tail lights of your 2006 Mini Cooper you will need to use a circuit tester like # 3808 if needed. You will have someone sit in the vehicle and run through the turn signal, brake, and running light functions while you test the wires. I know that on a 2005 model the wires are purple for running lights, black with green tracer is brake lights, and blue with green tracer for left turn signal. On the passenger side the blue with tan tracer is t

  • Can a 1997 Ford Taurus be Flat Towed Behind a Motor Home
  • I found an online copy of the owners manual from Ford for your 1997 Ford Taurus. It states that you can only flat tow with 4 wheels down for a maximum of 50 miles and at speeds no greater than 35 miles per hour. To tow the vehicle further and at higher speeds you would need to use a tow dolly. Please check your owners manual and/or contact a Ford dealer for more information. You do have a tow dolly that you can use. Take a look at Roadmaster tow dolly # RM-2000-1. This unit features lights, e

  • Installation Instructions for a TowDaddy Universal Wiring Kit on a 2013 Honda CR-V
  • I do not have installation instructions for the TowDaddy Universal Tail Light Wiring Kit # TD10000S that you referenced specific to your 2013 Honda CR-V, but I can walk you through how it would install on your vehicle. The first thing you are going to need to know is what style tail lights you have on your vehicle. There are 2 types, separate and combined. From the research I did it looks like your vehicle has separate tail lights, but you still might want to verify that. Separate means that
