Quickly and easily connect your towed car's lighting system to your RV to activate the signal lights required for towing. This custom harness plugs directly into your Jeep Wrangler's existing wiring - no cutting or splicing required.
✔ Confirmed to fit your 2013 Jeep Wrangler
Typically, wiring your car for flat towing is a tremendous chore. You have to position and mount multiple diodes beneath your car and then splice into the car's wiring. Before cutting and splicing, though, you have to use a circuit tester to identify each wire. This must be done for the wires carrying signals from your running lights, brake lights, and both turn signal lights. And don't forget to jump the diodes so that the running light signal is sent to both sides of your car.
Or.you could just plug in the TrailerMate wiring harness. This custom-fit system plugs into your Jeep Wrangler's existing wiring harness, which is located behind your car's tail light assemblies. No cutting, tapping or splicing is required. The wiring around the plugs is encased in durable convoluted tubing, making it easier to handle and safer to route as well.
After plugging in the wiring harness, use the included bracket to mount the 4-way flat connector at the front of your towed car. Then hook up to your RV with the supplied wiring extension, and you're good to tow. Note: The extension included with this system requires that your RV have a 4-wire flat trailer connector. If your RV has a 7-pole round connector, or another type of connector, then an adapter is required.
Because your Jeep Wrangler has a combined lighting system - wherein the brake signals and the turn signals are carried on a single wire - a brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) may be required if you use a supplemental braking system with your towing setup. A supplemental braking system depresses the brake pedal in your towed car every time you apply the brakes in your RV. So, if your towed car's brake lights illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed and the engine is off - as is the case when towing - then you need to install a relay to ensure that the lights on your towed car always act in accordance with the signals sent by your RV via the wiring harness. Without a relay, the brake signal from your towed car will override the turn signal sent by your RV when you slow down to make turns, creating a potential hazard.
When you're not flat towing your car, the TrailerMate wiring harness can remain on your Jeep Wrangler; it will not interfere with the electronics. And if you ever tow a trailer with your car, you'll be wired and ready. The TrailerMate system comes ready to accept 4-flat wiring (TM85330 - sold separately) at the rear of your Jeep Wrangler so that you can hook up a trailer quickly and easily. Just plug in the add-on 4-way trailer connector, and you're good to go.

Today we're going to taking a look at the Trailer Mate customer taillight wiring kit for towed vehicles. This product is designed to fit certain years of the Jeep Wrangler. What this does is it lets you connect your RV's tail, brake and turn signals lights to the towed vehicles lighting system. It is going to provide a 4-way flat plug at the front of the Jeep to easily connect it to your motor home. It comes with a dust cap for that plug. That way you can cover up the connection points when a plugs not being used.
This system is designed to plug in quickly and easily. You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires. What you'll need to do is locate your connection points. Those are going to be located behind the vehicle's taillights at the rear of the Jeep. Then you'll have 2 sets of connectors to get connected. You'll have this set right here and then you're going to have this set right here.
The plugs on the wiring harness are going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle. They're going to plug in. They're going to snap lock together offering a nice, tight secure fit. We do want to recommend that you use some dielectric grease on all your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4-pole connector itself. That grease is going to help prevent corrosion.
It is sold separately and if you want some, you can find it right here at etrailer.com. Once you get those connected, you'll need to make your ground connection. That's going to be the white wire with the ring terminal attached to it. You want to get that grounded to a nice clean metal surface. You can do that using one of the included grounding screws or one of the screws you can use for grounding that's provided with the kit. Then you'll need to run the 4-way flat connector to the front of the Jeep per the included instructions.
It's going to walk you through how to get that routed to the front of the vehicle. You can secure any slack or excess wiring that you may have with the included zip ties. They provide a whole bundle there for you. Once you get this towards the front of the vehicle, you can use the included bracket and hardware to get the 4-way flat connector mounted at the front of the jeep and easily accessible when you're ready to connect it to your motor home. This unit's going to help safeguard the towed vehicle's electrical system by preventing overload with the build-in diodes. Additional diodes are required to completely eliminate electrical feedback. Those are sold separately and they're available here at etrailer.com. With this system installed and not connected to the motor home, if your jeep's not connect, you don't have to worry about any interference with the electrical system when the towed vehicle is not hooked up to the RV. There's going to be another connector here on the harness that will be located at the back of the Jeep. This is going to provide a connection point for a 4-pole flat wiring harness. That way you can tow a trailer behind your behind your vehicle when it's not being flat towed by your RV. Again, you can connect a 4-pole flat wiring harness. That's going to be part number TM85330. It is sold separately. It's available here at etrailer.com if you want to pick that up. This is custom designed for your vehicle. It's going to include everything you see here on the table, so you're going to get your wiring harness, your hardware, zip ties, mounting bracket. You're also going to get this 4 flat extension. This is a 4-flat extension loop for easy hookup between the Jeep and the RV. It's also going to come with your detailed installed instructions. Now, brake light relays, those may be required if used with a supplemental breaking system. They're sold separately. You can find them with part number RM-88400 and, again, available here at etrailer.com. This product is covered with a limited lifetime warranty. Please keep in mind that the extension included with this system requires that your RV has a 4-wire flat trailer connector. Now if your RV has a 7-pole round connector or another type of connector, then an adapter is going to be required. That's going to do it for today's look at the Trailer Mate custom taillight wiring kit for towed vehicles.

The wiring kit was easy to install with clearly written instructions. This wiring kit is just what I need for towing my jeep behind my motor home. No need to attach clumsy, awkward towing lights that can mar the jeep's paint or fall off. 132719

Etrailer has the best customer service of any company I have dealt with in several years. I received a call from etrailer that the wiring harness was back ordered and the company that made the harness could not give a shipping date. I was offered to change to another harness (Hoskins) but I decided to go with the TrailerMate since I had prior experience with that brand. I was kept informed all through the ordering process and received the wiring harness in about two weeks. The TrailerMate harness is very easy to install and worked perfectly. The instructions are clear and made the installation easy. There are two way to run the wiring from the rear of the vehicle to the front. Since I was installing on a 2014 Jeep Wrangler that will be going off road. I wanted as much protection as possible on the wiring. I opted to run the wiring through the frame rails. The instructions say to use a fish tape and pull the wire. Since I didn’t have a fish tape and didn’t want to buy one for a one time use. I used an old 12 ft metal carpenters tape. There is an opening near the rear where the wire comes from the harness and another near the front driver’s side wheel. Run the tape through the front opening to the rear (you will probably have to giggle it around to get it over the rear part of the frame). At the rear opening pull the tape and fasten the harness wire to the ruler tape and then pull the tape to the front of the frame where to can route the wire to the front connection point. 123105

I received my Jeep wiring harness so that I can tow my Jeep behind my RV when traveling. I was looking for a kit that would plug right in without splicing. I'm 63 years old and when I received the harness I followed the instructions on the install video. It went exactly like the video described. The total time it took me was about an hour and a half. When I was done I checked all the lights and they worked as intended. This wiring system cost a little more then some of the others but as I mentioned I didn't have to splice wires. I left the end out as I'm waiting for my new front bumper to complete the install. 237335

Great product, no wiring or splicing to do, just plug it in and it worked the first try, It was a little tough routing it through the frame and then feeding it around the engine compartment where it would be safe, cutting the hole near the right tail light required some special tools that some folks might not have? I'm a retired Flight Test Mechanic so this was a piece of cake for me. Sense it's all hidden behind the tail lights and in the frame, photos of the finished job won't show much 93575

In general I am very pleased with the product and installation information. Some of the installation information could be more defined. such as were to run the wiring after it come out of the frame rail. The wires that run between the rear tail lights could be about 12 inches longer. I do have a question as well; when I ordered the kit I asked if the harness provided blocking diodes within the harness and was told it did. I have not connected it to my RV yet and wanted confirmation about that? If it doesn't I just wasted 75 Dollars on my purchase because I will then have to modify the circuitry to prevent an electrical problem from occurring! 110596

This is very easy to install. Ran thru frame on 2012 Jeep Wrangler, however in hindsight I would have gone with separate bulb harness because of my combined brake and turn signal which necessitated installing a brake relay switch. Not so easy to install. Way up under dash. If you have separate brake and turn signals this harness would be a snap. 245827
Made too short ,jumper too short paid too much for product that doesn't fit right 134942
The towing base plate for my Jeep and the wiring harness was very simple to install and works perfectly. We have been using it behind our motor home for about a year and many miles without and problems. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Joe 248945
