8" Bias Ply Trailer Tire and Wheel
Note: Most trailer tires that are smaller than 15" and have 5 bolts, have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern.
How to Measure Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number is the diameter of the circle the holes sit on. To determine the diameter on wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure center-to-center on bolt holes directly across from each other on the circle (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 would mean 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" center-to-center diameter). When the number of bolt holes is odd, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from it on the circle (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 would mean 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolts).
AND / OR
The distance between the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of the bolt hole right next to it will also help determine the bolt pattern.

Today, we're going to review part number: 480TW5-B. The 480 X 8" Trailer Tire and wheel combo. This wheel has a white, powder coat finish, which gives you superior protection against corrosion. It measures 8" in diameter by 3-3/4" wide. It has a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, meaning that it has 5 lug holes, and it is 4-1/2" measured by drawing a circle through the center of each of the 5 lug bolt holes, and measuring the diameter of that circle, which is 4-1/2". You may also measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the bolt hole right next to it, giving you 2-5/8".
If you use the chart on our product page, that measurement will tell you that you have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. Now, we'll go ahead and move on to the tire: This is a Loadstar 480/8 size. It has an overall diameter of 16". It has a maximum capacity of 590 lbs at 60 psi. It is of bias construction, which means the steel belts run the length of the tire.
