Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Today we're going to review part number AM32181. This is a Kenda Karrier Tire size ST215/75R14, radial trailer tire. It's mounted on a 14-inch Dexstar White Spoke Wheel. This wheel is finished with a white powder coat finish to protect it from corrosion on the front of the wheel and on the back of the wheel. A few measurements we'll do on this wheel is the diameter which will be measured inside to inside. And that will be 14 inches.
The width of this wheel is 5-1/2 inches wide. This wheel does use a bolt pattern, a 5-bolt 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. And on a wheel that has an odd number of lug holes like in this case, five, there's a couple of ways you can go about measuring the bolt pattern, I'll show you both of them. The first way is if you drew a circle through the center of all five of the lug holes, measure the diameter of that circle. In this case if we measured the center of this bolt hole to edge of that circle it will be 4-1/2 inches, so that will tell you this is a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern.
The other way is if you pick one of the lug holes and go from the center of it to the center of a lug hole right next to it, either way. Take that measurement. That's going to be 2-5/8 inches. And then you'll go to the product page for this part number, and at the bottom of the page there'll be a chart and that chart will show you when this measurement is 2-5/8 inches that will mean the bolt pattern is a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. This wheel has a weight capacity of 1875 lbs at 50 psi.
This does use a wheel bolt size of 1/2-inch by 20. Another critical measurement is the large hole in the center of the wheel called the pilot hole. This is what will go with the hub on your trailer. If we measure the diameter of that it will be 3.19 inches. Now we'll move on to the tire.
The tire is a Loadstar size ST, for Special Trailer, 215/75R14. The R will designate that it is a radial designed tire. This is a Load Range C tire which is a six ply rated tire. It does have a maximum load carrying capacity of 1870 lbs at 50 psi. And we mentioned this is a radial constructed tire and by that we mean the belts or the chords when it is built on the inside of the tire will run bead seat to bead seat or the radius of the tire. And what that does is it will give you a better contact patch because of the flex of the tire and that better contact will give you better stability, better traction. The other nice thing with a radial tire when you compare it to a bias is it will normally run cooler as long as it's not overloaded. And when the tire runs cooler that will help it last longer. We're going to do another measurement and that's going to be the overall diameter. That will be 26 inches. This tire and wheel combo does come with a limited two year warranty. And that should do it for part number AM32181.

I ordered three of these to upgrade my Coleman Niagara camper. They were installed along with an axle flip kit for more clearance. Wheels arrived very quickly, well packed and ready to go; they even had the correct air pressure in them! Date codes on the tires were essentiallty brand new from the factory. Trailer rides well on the new rubber.72142

I ordered a spare tire/wheel assembly for my boat trailer in a rush to have for my vacation trip in 5 days.
