To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates the width
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)

Video Transcript for Thule CB12 Tire Chains Review

Today we are going to show you part number TH01221102 from Thule. This is their CB12 tire chains. As you can see here, the chains come in a handy carrying case. I have one of the chains in the center also you have a package with some gloves that you can wear over your mittens and whatnot to keep them dry while you are putting the chains on. Also there is an extra pair of links so in the unlikely event that you break a chain you can fix it rather easily. Also there is a kneeling mat so you do not get your knees wet while you go ahead and install the chains. A few quick notes about these. It does feature color-coded connection points to ease installation. A plastic-covered cable runs from behind the tire to allow you to move the chain without moving the car. The links themselves are a dual-sided D-shape that provides greater traction. And also this will not mess up anything with anti-lock brake systems or electronic stability control systems. It is really designed for passenger-type vehicles. We will go ahead and show you how it fits and how it installs on a typical tire.

To install the chain, run it behind the tire and then bring the blue cable behind the tire and hook them up at the top. Then pull your chains from the back side up to the front, and your red loop here on the end will connect to this red hook here. Then kind of push the blue cable back behind the tire. And then this chain here at the bottom will go through this tensioner here. Hook it through this other loop here. And then this part you want to hook this end up as close to this red hook as possible, somewhere on this part of the chain. Okay, and you have them installed.

All right, to remove the chains, reverse the same procedure. Disconnect it, undo this, and then on top here with the hook, pull the blue part back in and just let it fall to the ground. And part of the chain might be trapped underneath the tire, so just let it sit wherever and just drive backward or forward, whichever is easier, to retrieve your chains. And there you have it for part number TH01221102 from Thule, their CB12 tire chains.

      • Thule Snow Tire Chain Clearance on a 2008 Chevrolet HHR
      • We have not had the opportunitty to install the Thule CB12 Tire Chains, item # TH01221095, on the Chevrolet HHR yet but I have installed them on a Mini Cooper and there was plenty of clearance for the chains on this vehicle which has very close quarters in the wheel well. You will need to be sure that you have the chains tightened sufficiently so that they are not slinging out from the tire due to centrifugal force when you are driving. Just drive a short distance once the chains are installed a

      • Snow Chain Recommendation for a 2005 Honda Accord with 205/60R 16 size Tires
      • The chains that feature actual chain instead of cable should provide you with more traction than the cable snow chains, therefore giving you better handling and control. However, since your owners manual specifically says to use low clearance cable style chains you should stick with their recommendation and get that style snow chain, otherwise you may damage your 2005 Honda Accord. I would recommend you get Glacier Tire Chains for the 2005 Accord by Honda, part # PW1934V. If you wanted the

This DOT-compliant chain set offers a low-profile design ideal for vehicles with limited wheel-well clearance and uses rugged case-hardened steel roller construction. We recommend rubber adjusters be used with these chains and they are available separately, part # PW100. Installation of both prod
