Offering a smoother ride and more low-profile design than the comparable CB12 chains, Thule's CD10 snow tire chains are durable, effective and simple to install. The included tensioning device makes mounting a snap. Just pull the rubber strap taut to tighten the chain for a perfect fit. In addition to requiring only 10 millimeters of clearance - which allows them to easily fit most standard cars - the CD10 chains also offer protection for your vehicle's alloy rims. Integrated nylon buttons are positioned along the front to prevent the chains from coming into contact with and scratching your wheels.

All Thule snow chains are handmade in Italy of hardened manganese nickel alloy steel for durability. The dual-sided, 10-millimeter-diameter, D-shape links provide superior traction for excellent grip on snow and ice.

Included with each pair of chains are mounting instructions, a kneeling mat and a pair of gloves, all packaged in a sturdy, reusable container.

Thule CD10 Tire Chain Installation

How to Install the CD10 Snow Chain

  1. Spread the chain out around the tire and hook the plastic-covered, yellow end of the cable through the opposite, hooked end.
  2. Connect the red hook to the red loop on the side chain. Then move the cable portion of the chain over the top and around to the back of the tire. (Make sure the cable does not ride on the tire's tread.)
  3. Thread the tension chain (A) through the stop device (B). Then pass the chain through the shortening hook (C) and - using the rubber tensioner - hook the chain to a link in the side chain (D).
  4. Drive forward and stop to check the tension on the chains. To tighten them, pull the tension chain taut through the stop device and shortening hook and then hook it onto a link in the side chain farther out than the one you hooked it to initially. See E in the above diagram.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates the width
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches
