Video Transcript for Yakima PowderHound Ski and Snowboard Carrier Review - 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Today on our 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse were going to test fit part number Y03082 from Yakima. This is their Powderhound roof mounted ski carrier. Our cars already been equipped with a roof rack from Yakima, so all youve got to do is take our ski rack and install it. Well start off with our ski rack already assembled according to the instructions. Well just go ahead and place it onto our roof rack. We have one-half of a clamp loosely installed and then we can rotate the top of the ski carrier off to the side so we can install the hardware for the second side of the clamp.

We have the first group attached to the other side of the clamp. Well go ahead and loosen the center screw and rotate the ski rack out of the way so we can tighten down the second screw. Were going to leave it loose enough that we can still move it around as we need to for a second clamp. At this point you can go ahead and put the ski carrier wherever you want. You can put it off to the side like were going to, or put in the middle or on the other side.

Once the rack is at the right placement well go ahead and tighten down all the screws. One half of the ski rack is installed. Well go ahead and repeat the same process for the other half. With that the ski rack is installed. Lets go ahead and load up some skis.

Well just push up on the red button and move the top half out of our way. Lets go ahead and add a snowboard, too. With all our skis loaded up, all weve got to do is pull the tops down and it will clamp the skis in place. Thats what it takes to load up the skis. With that, that will finish it for our test fit of part number Y03082, the Yakima Powderhound ski carrier on our 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse..

I've had this Yakima ski rack before and it seems they've improved it. Rack installs easily and even fit my Xterra's factory roof racks right out of the box. Good product, great service and shipping from etrailer! 64710

Ask the Experts about this Yakima Ski and Snowboard Racks

  • Will Yakima PowderHound part Y03081 Fit My 2005 Lexus GX470
  • The Yakima PowderHound Roof Mounted Ski and Snowboard carrier uses mounting feet that will attach to most factory cross bars. The cross bars can be no wider than 3-7/8 inches and they cannot be thicker than 1-1/4 inches. As long as your roof rack has cross bars that are within these limits the rack should fit your Lexus GX 470 factory rack. If your vehicle only has the rails that run front to back, and not the cross bars, you would use part # TH45050 from Thule and the Yakima PowderHound will

  • Will Yakima PowderHound Roof-Mounted Ski and Snowboard Carrier Y03081 Fit a 2001 Audi TT Coupe
  • We do offer a roof rack option for your 2001 Audi TT coupe that would allow you to use a ski and snowboard carrier, but the the Yakima PowderHound carrier # Y03081 is not compatible with your vehicle. You would first need to install a roof rack on your vehicle using a Thule custom roof rack kit including foot pack # TH480, load bars # THLB50, and fit kit # THKIT1180. This would equip your Audi TT with cross bars onto which a ski carrier or other accessory could be mounted. I would recomm

  • Parts Needed to Mount Yakima PowderHound Ski and Snowboard Carrier to 2009 Ford Explorer
  • To use the Yakima PowderHound on your Explorer, you will need crossbars to provide an attachment point. If you have the factory crossbars that are no larger than 3-7/8 inches wide or 1-1/4 inches tall, the PowderHound will attach directly to them.
