With its unique, rubber-coated stainless steel cables, the RockyMounts LiftOp 4 ski and snowboard carrier boasts the ability to fit nearly all crossbars, whether they are round, square, aero/elliptical or factory. Wrap the rack's cables around the crossbar, hook them into the mounting slots, and tighten the tensioners to ensure a strong hold.
Optional riser blocks are included to provide an extra 1-1/4" of clearance for bulky bindings. Additionally, the LiftOp 4 comes with rectangular insert plates to fit into the channels of Euro-style or slotted crossbars.
With its plush padding and locking design, the RockyMounts LiftOp 4 securely holds 4 pairs of skis or 2 snowboards. It is simple to operate, even while you're wearing gloves, so your hands stay warm while you are loading and unloading your gear. Simply push the release button to open the rack, load your skis and snowboards, and close the rack by pulling it down.

Today were going to be reviewing the Rocky Mounts Liftop 6, locking ski and snowboard carrier, part number RKY1461. A few features about this carrier, it has push button levers delivering quick and hassle free loading and unloading. It also has rubber coated braided stainless steel mounting cables, allowing for universal fit on all styles of roof racks. It has built in locks to deter theft. Its lightweight, corrosion resistant, aluminum construction with powder-coat finish is durable and rust resistant. This ski carrier is capable of carrying up to six pairs of skis for four snowboards.
It also comes with a one year limited warranty. There are two ways that the ski carrier can be mounted onto your roof rack, depending on your roof rack. The way it comes out of the box is like this, with the steel strap. This ones used with most crossbars. The other way this ski carrier can be mounted if your crossbars have a track system in them.
The provided hardware will allow you to use the track system to mount it directly to the crossbar. For this demonstration were actually going to show you both ways to mount it to the crossbars. Well begin by taking the rubber footpad included in the hardware and install it on each of the two feet. Well first need to install the rubber footpad on the bottom of the carrier. Youll use one for each foot.
Refer to the instruction manual. There are some models where the footpad cannot be used. Well go ahead and set the carrier on top of the crossbar, line up the feet with the crossbar itself and position it wherever you like on the crossbar. With the strap underneath youll simply lift the cover, slide it out of the way, and with it out of the way well bring the T cable up and secure it into the slot. Well then repeat the procedure for the other foot.
With the straps loosely fit around the feet well go ahead and tighten them down using the provided Allen wrench. With the strap tight around the crossbar simply slide the cover back over the top and snap it into place. Well repeat this procedure on the other side. With the feet tight and the cover latched into place we can now go ahead and tighten the carrier to the feet, using this, the Allen wrench. Well need to do that on both sides. With that our front carrier is secured to the roof rack and were ready to move onto the rear carrier. Now well go ahead and show you the other way to mount the carrier to the crossbars. If your crossbar has a top track in it we are able to mount it directly to the crossbar. Well use the longer bolt and the spacers provided, along with the riser block to mount it directly to the crossbar. With them preinstalled on the carrier itself well simply line up the washer with the channel and slide it into place. Well need to make sure that the risers tabs are centered with the channel itself. We can go ahead and open up the carrier and tagging down the 6 mm Allen bolt with the Allen wrench. Well repeat that procedure on the other side. Now that weve shown you both versions of installation for this carrier were going to go ahead and stay with the crossbar slot mount version. With our carrier open we can go ahead and load our skis and snowboard. With the board set in place we can go ahead and close the carrier to carrying the to the car. The Rocky Mount Ski Carrier also does come with locks. There are one per carrier. With the skis in we can go ahead and lock the carrier, deterring theft. Well repeat that procedure for the rear carrier. Now well take it out on a test drive. That completes our review of the Rocky Mounts Liftop 6 Locking Ski and Snowboard Carrier, part number RKY1461.
