Today, on our 2007 BMW 3 series, we'll be test-fitting a Yakima roof rack system. We'll be using the 48-inch bars, part number Y00408, the Landing Pad 11, part number Y00233, as well as the control towers, part number Y00214. Now, we've already got our roof rack system assembled according to the instructions and we're ready to mount it up on our vehicle. The first thing we need to do is open the doors at the four tension points around the corners of the vehicle. You can use your fingernail or a small screwdriver to help pry them open, but be very careful as they are plastic and they are finished in paint. Once weve done that we can take our four landing pads and begin to thread them on the mounting post.

Remember, at this point, we don't want to tighten them all the way down as we need to make some final adjustments once we have the bars in place. Once we have all four pads set, we'll grab our control tower and bar assembly and set it into place. We'll make sure that we can close the control tower door completely and we can adjust the landing pads as needed. Once we have everything positioned properly, we'll remove the bars back out and finish tightening down the landing pads. With the landing pads secure, we'll set our control towers and bars into place.

We'll take our two hex screws through either side of the control tower foot and tighten it down into our landing pad. Finally, we'll push down and tighten the tower to our bar. Then we'll snap the covers closed. With that done at all four points, our roof rack's installed and we're ready to start mounting accessories. That's it for our test-fit at that Yakima Roof Rack system on our 2007 BMW 3 Series..

Already had Landing Pads 11 mounted on my wifes 2012 Ford Flex. The Control Towers snapped in as easy as could be. My wife says she loves them because they are simple to remove when they are not in use. Well made. What else would you expect from Yakima.46712

Roof Rack and Canoe Carrier Recommendations for a 2008 Chevy TrailBlazer

Yakima Roof Rack Parts for a 2005 Chevy TrailBlazer
To add the crossbars to your 2005 Chevy TrailBlazer, you will need 2 sets of # Y00221 and 1 set of # Y00214 just like you have said. Ordering individual towers is not cost effective because you would also need covers and hardware. The bars you have will need to be at least 48 inches long, otherwise they will not fit. Kayak Carrier Recommendation for a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer with Factory Roof Rack
You are correct, the factory crossbars on a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer are not compatible with Yakima or Thule Kayak carriers. I do have a solution for you though. You can add the following Thule parts to add some compatible crossbars: 2 sets of # TH4602 Thule Fit Kit, # THKIT3101 Thule load bars # THLB50 Then, with this rack installed, you can use a Thule kayak carrier like the Stacker, # TH830.
