Specs:

If you have a roof rack, a bike and a destination, then all you need to get there is the FrontLoader. This premium wheel mount holds just about any bike and fits round, square and most factory crossbars with universal mounting hardware - no annoying adapters required.

You can mount your bike on FrontLoader without removing the front wheel, cutting the loading time drastically compared with fork-mounted designs. The bike remains vertical as you roll it into place on FrontLoader's cradling wheel arms.

The front tire is cradled firmly but gently by a pair of adjustable arms, or wheel hoops. The larger, outermost arm features a sliding wheel grip that is labeled with wheel sizes and that adjusts for the perfect fit over your tire. The innermost, smaller, ratcheting wheel hoop is then pulled up into position to grab the back half of the front tire.

The cradling wheel arms are fine-tuned for the perfect fit around your tire with an adjustment knob, and they are easily released with a push of the red button. Cradling your bike by the tires, the FrontLoader avoids contact with the frame, so your paint job remains pristine. The carrier accommodates wheel sizes from 20" to 29" and easily accepts bikes with disc brakes, thru axles or non-traditional suspensions.

The fully adjustable, sliding wheel tray holds most bike sizes, from monster freeride bikes to girls' bikes with tassels on the handlebars. Rear wheels are secured in place on the tray with a ratcheting wheel strap. Ratchets are on both sides of the strap for easy loading and unloading from either side of your vehicle.

An integrated security cable that is compatible with 1 Same Key System (SKS) lock core (sold separately) keeps your bike safe on the rack. The cable deploys from the inner arm and stores inside it when not in use. The cable can also lock the carrier to your crossbars when no bike is mounted.

The upright arms of the FrontLoader fold flat when not in use, cutting wind resistance and allowing for easy storage.

The carrier installs on your crossbars with clamps, and the tension of the front clamp is controlled by an integrated handle. The bike rack locks to your roof-rack crossbars with an additional SKS core (sold separately).

Today we are going to show you the Yakima FrontLoader wheel mount bike carrier, part number Y02103. The FrontLoader is a roof mounted bike rack that is designed to fit not only Yakima round crossbars but also square and most OEM style crossbars. It is a wheel mount carrier, so you are not required to remove the front wheel and attach it to the fork. There is an integrated lockable cable that helps keep your bike secured to the rack. The rack itself can be secured to your roof rack using the Yakima SKS lock system. Yakima designed the mounting clamps so that the FrontLoader requires no tools to be installed on your vehicles roof rack. The rack will hold one bike with tire sizes from 20-29 inches. The FrontLoader will attach to your vehicles roof rack using two clamps, one in the rear and one up in the front. 0:51
In the rear, we use this wing nut to loosen the bolt and turn the T-bolt on the underside to allow the clamp to swing open. Depending on the size and shape of your crossbars, you may need to remove the clamp and set it in one of the other notches. The front clamp is adjusted by this screw. All you have to do is turn the handle and the clamp will begin to tighten. On the front of the rack is a space for a Yakima SKS lock core. All you have to do is remove this knockout and you will be able to fit a lock core inside. This lock core will secure the rack to the roof rack of your vehicle. The FrontLoader uses a pair of wheel loops to secure the front tire. The main hoop is adjustable for different size tires: 20, 24, 26, 700, or 29. To adjust it, undo the clamps and slide the loop wherever you need it. 1:48
Since we are going to be setting this rack up on the left side of our vehicle, we are going to go ahead and turn around the rear wheel tray with the strap the other way so we can access the strap easier once we have the rack mounted. To flip it around, we have to push the pins in on our end cap and slide it out. We will take the rear wheel tray, slide it off, turn it around and slide it back on. The FrontLoader will fit roof racks that have a crossbar spread between 16 and 45 inches. Make sure that your roof rack either falls in that range or can be adjusted in that range. Now we are ready to mount the rack on the vehicle. Once we have the FrontLoader positioned on our roof rack, we can begin tightening and adjusting the clamps. We will give our rack a quick shake and it looks like we are good and secure. 2:37
Before we load the bike, we are going to undo the rear strap and tuck it out of the way so that we can get our wheel in easier. Once you have the bike into position, make sure you hold down the wheel while you tighten the knob so that the hoops do not move. Once you have the front wheel nice and tight, we will head to the back and do the rear wheel strap. Pull it over the wheel and feed it through the ratcheting buckle. If you choose to add the Yakima SKS lock core system, you can also use the integrated cable lock. The cable lock is attached to the wheel hoop and you can feed it through the bike frame and lock it using the Yakima SKS lock core. The Yakima SKS lock cores are available in pairs, part number Y07202. Now make sure that your bike is center along the wheel track and that it is not loaded unevenly on the front wheel hoop. Once the bike is secure, we are ready to hit the road. And there you have it for the Yakima FrontLoader wheel mount bike carrier, part number Y02103.

A great product. shipped early and arrived in a short amount of time. the rack goes on a standard rack in minutes, really ! It is a reach to get to the top of the roof, but all roof racks are. holds the bike super secure and with wheel adjustments will fit all different bikes. Great Rack !59428

The Yakima Y02103 roof mounted bike rack is well-engineered to perform. It is easy to install, and easy to get a bike on and off the rack. I drive a 2008 Ford Escape and am 5' 6" tall, so I need to use a small step ladder which I keep in the back of my vehicle. My downhill mtb weighs about 40 pounds and feels very secure on the roof of my SUV. With the wind resistance there is a noticeable dip in fuel economy, however--the biggest downside about having a roof mounted bike rack.44212

Well built and solid. Installs in minutes. Bike does sway while driving but stays in the rack with no worries of it falling out. One complaint is that for the money you spend on this rack it should come with the locks instead of having to buy them separately. If you are considering purchasing this rack, one thing to consider is the type of car you own verses the amount of energy you have after your ride. I own an SUV type vehicle and after an 80 mile ride I just don't have the energy to get my bike up on the roof of my car. It can be a challenge. 37103
