The Viper is a premium fork mount with a lockable, ergonomic, 9-mm stainless steel skewer that makes loading your bike fast and effortless. The skewer adjusts with one hand and engages with a flip of a quick-release lever. Also, the skewer is lockable with an SKS Core (sold separately), which allows all your Yakima locks to be keyed alike.

This premium carrier is compatible with a wide range of bikes, including those with either single- or dual-piston disc brakes. The Viper does not contact the bike frame, so your paint job is safe, and the rear wheel is held firmly in place in the wheel tray by a ratcheting strap.

The Viper installs in seconds with no tools required, is lightweight - at just 6-1/2 lbs - for easy mounting on the roof of your vehicle and is constructed of steel for durability.

The versatile Viper will mount on either round or square crossbars and fits bar spreads from 16" to 42". Bar spreads of 16" to 18" are limited to two bikes. The Viper head features a cam-action cover that clamps the carrier to the crossbars. The cover will not open unless the skewer is removed first.

You can reposition the Viper easily when it is mounted inside the roof-rack tower by holding a small switch on the underside of the carrier head down when inserting the skewer. This is great when carrying multiple bikes and one or two must sit towards the center of the vehicle. Simply flip the cam-action cover and pull the carrier to the side of the vehicle. Load the bike, then push the carrier and bike to where it needs to go. To keep the carrier in a locked position on the crossbars - and for outside-the-tower mounting - hold the switch up when inserting the skewer.

The wheel tray can be locked to your crossbars by replacing the hand knob (hex key) on the bottom of the mounting bracket with a Yakima Accessory Lock Housing (Y07220), which requires purchase of an additional SKS Core.
