Great for normal bike frames Great product for normal adult bike frames however will not fit any of the 3 kids and 1 woman's bike frames (16"-24" wheels) I've tried. Th problem is that the V cradles are too large and bike frame openings too small. Description mentions using an adaptor but don't see one for sale. 3430

Seems to be well made. I have carried 2 bikes at a time with no issues obviously. If you are going to carry 4 nice bikes (new) you may want to remove the pedals so they don't scratch the other bikes. I would say this goes for other models too though. Spacing seems to be about the same on most 4 bike models.16174

Good Value This is a very good rack for the price! I bought the rack and trailer hitch receiver at the same time and installed both with ease. It was free delivery and arrived in four days..excellent service! Unfortunately, there is too much play between the hitch receiver and the bike rack, which really concerns me. The anti-rattle pin does not come with a lock washer so it's only a matter of time before it becomes loose. I went and bought a stainless washer and lock washer for added reliability.3437

GET THIS! and the padlock! Upon opening this product and assembling it I realized that it was even better quality than I originally thought when I bought it. I think this blows all the big names out of the water, especially for the price. PROS: -PRICE! -built VERY well and STURDY -has an anti-wobble pin, holds 4 bikes -has a platform with several holes allowing more straps or bungees to be attached and an easy way to lock bikes to the rack with a cable -it tilts out of the way (my favorite feature) -the pin that releases it to tilt is attached with a small cable to the rack so you won't lose the pin -the straps fit a wide variety of bike frames -it even has a red reflector on the end for better visibility The only complaints I have are minor. Cons: -you may have to get adapter bars for certain bikes -rack does not fold down for storage (but this also is what makes it so sturdy) -it would be nice if the padlock (item # 63140-1) automatically came with the rack 3181

What a great product.... As a causal biker with kids I really wanted an inexpensive rack to save me from the torture of loading bikes into the back of my SUV. I looked around and found this Tow-Ready rack for $99. Not being an avid user and having little experience with other racks I can only say that I don't see it getting any better or easier than this. the rack was simple to put together in about 10 minutes(though I will add that a took the advice of another reviewer and assembled it in the hitch receiver which made things much easier), and seems strong, sturdy and durable. There is a little play in the rack, but not much, and during my "test drive" experienced little by way of noise or rattles. I do think a bungee cord or two are needed to keep the bikes from swaying and wheels spinning but nothing major. Overall for a much reduced price this rack seems like a dead bang winner. I am extremely happy and would recommend it to anyone. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.2818

Low price, great product! I recently bought and used this rack with four bikes (two 24'', one 26'' and one 27'') and it worked perfectly. We used two of the 'Swagman Easy-Out Women's and Alternative Frame Bike Adapters' which worked really well as well. The rack is solid and made transporting bikes a pleasure. The rack does tilt for opening the hatchback but it does not fold, which is not an issue for my use but could be for others. If you can live without the folding feature, I would highly recommend this one. Also, the Velcro on mine is black (like in the video), not yellow as in the photo. That did not matter to me. 2271

Good rack at excellent price Strong rack, easy to use, really does hold 4 bikes securely in place. Used it on a 2500-mile road trip with no problems and minimal impact on gas mileage. Be careful if your hitch receiver is low, since the corner of the rack can easily hit the ground in driveway dips, speed bumps etc. Don't expect to use the tilt feature while bikes are on it; the weight of the bikes presses on the tilt pin so it can't be pulled out. The first one I got had a flaw in the base piece so the tilt pin holes wouldn't align properly when the pole was vertical. eTrailer Customer Service was very responsive and got me a replacement in time for our trip. I am also happy to see they have clarified the description about the hitch lock (this bit me because I tried to get keyed-alike hitch & cable locks); too many companies ignore suggestions like this. Again, Customer Service was great in sorting this out quickly. Thank you! And thanks also for your great Web site with instructional videos etc. - very useful!1423

Great rack, SOLID Just put this on my minivan along with an draw tite hitch. The bikes are held in tight with the velcro straps and the anti-rattle pin holds the rack tight to the hitch so sway is minimal and the bikes are very secure. As long as you don't need a folding arm, this is the rack to buy for 4 bikes.1153

Great value As long as you don't mind not being able to fold the arms down, this rack is excellent value. It is solidly built, fits snugly in the hitch with the anti-rattle pin (included), and holds 4 bikes securely. The arm does stick out a ways beyond the back of the vehicle so be careful backing etc.1126

Had some doubts since it was lot less expensive than the Thule Parkway that I've used in the past. But I was pleasantly surprised. The construction is solid. The design is simple and effective. Biggest difference being the single support vs. double bar of the Thule. Used it this weekend on a long road trip transporting a mt bike. Solid! Key is to balance the bike on the rails. The bolting hitch pin work great. Zero rattle. The support bar does not tilt like some of the ones out there but not a big deal for me. The whole rack does and is actually a far better design than the Thule.....much stronger. Can't go wrong with this one. Or etrailer for that matter.63984

2 things i found could be a problem: 1- there's no safety bracket to prevent the rack from falling into your vehicle when the pin is pulled to tilt the rack. 2- you can't use a standard trailer pin to connect to your hitch, the threads for the supplied screw will not allow a standard pin to pass through the hole. other than that, i used it last weekend and it worked great, sturdy and easy to use.51559

We have been using this rack for almost three months now. It is sturdy and easy to get the bikes off and on. We have only used it for two mountain bikes (one mens and one womens - we have not needed anything extra for the womens one). Although this is a great product and is a great price and we use it A LOT we are disappointed that we did not realize that is does not tilt down if you want to leave it on your vehicle without bikes. (This was our mistake by not paying better attention when we purchased it). It does stick out very far and I have hit my head on it several times. It is a bit heavy for me to put it on the car alone (my husband has to do it). Again, this is a great product BUT if you want to leave it on without bikes get one that tilts down when not in use, I would trade this one in a heart beat for one that does if I could.43269

This carrier is pretty sturdy. The metal tubing is stout and substantial. The cradles fit any size and geometry of bike. I have 2 smaller kids bikes which have shorter tube lengts and tighter geometries; but, they fit on the rack just fine with a little effort. However, the anti-rattle device is not very effective: the unit sways and rattles and the hitch pin is loose in the hole.43156

I just got it and put it on the hitch. I put a bike on there and strapped it in. I have not gone anywhere yet but it feels secure. It is a bit wobbly fitting into the hitch but it's not going anywhere. Better than snug tight otherwise it might be too hard to put in or take out. I recommend this to anyone. I also installed the hitch I got from here to our ford escape too. Piece of cake. Both work great. Thanks42684

The bike rack I ordered is constructed extremely beefy and was very easily put together. The instructions that came with it stated that it was not made for installation on RVs.; how ever the reason I bought it was because the website listed it as approved for RVs. Called e-trailer who in turn called the manufacturer who state that it was indeed designed for RVs but they forgot to update the instruction pamphlet. This product is excellent. It took approximately 10 minutes to put together out of the box. I looked at similar Thule and Yakima racks for more than twice the price and believe this is a superior product. The biggest thing I noticed is the quality of construction. You can tell it's built to last and doesn't rattle around like similar racks. I highly recommend this rack over Yakima or Thule. I was also very pleased with Etrailer's customer service. Product went together very easily with the exception of one lag bolt. I used the specified torque setting on my wrench and when I was about 90% tightened I heard a loud bang and the bolt broke. Fortunately no damage and a quick trip to the hardware store solved the broken bolt issue. Overall extremely satisfied with the rack!34666

I have used etrailer.com before and it remains one of my favorite on line companies to trust. They not only have the best prices but they also have what I consider the best service. In this case I was able to watch a very well made video that showed a perfect, step by step instruction of just how my trailer hitch and trailer lights assembly was to be installed. The video was precise as to how to do the procedure. After watching the video I felt very able to complete this project without injuring my vehicle. On top of that I saved $170.00 and did the whole job in less time than I could have driven to the garage, waited for the installation and then driven home. Plus I saved the $10 in gasoline to drive to the shop and back. Etrailer.com played no games with me at any point in the transaction and they delivered the goods, via UPS, as promised in a timely manner. This product truly exceeded my high expectations. The other reviews of this product are correct. The build quality is excellent. I had a Thule Hitch rack before and I think this is a much better build quality. Nice, heavy steel. The locking bolt for the hitch mount is just that....a bolt instead of a standard hitch pin which also makes it more sturdy. The bikes are very stable on this rack. It also sits higher than a typical hitch carrier which I like as well. It comes nearly completely assembled. You only have to install the 4 holders onto the top of the rack with 8 allen bolts (allen wrench included) and 2 bolts to put the top half on the bottom half. Does not take long at all to assemble. Etrailer was great as well and had my order to me within 3 days with standard shipping! 22528

I love that it pivots so I can get into the rear hatch of my '08 Highlander without removing it. It is very sturdy construction and only took the 15 mins indicated on the box to set-up. I would recommend this product to cyclist! 16556

This is a great bike rack! I wanted something that could carry all 4 of our family bikes and this does it easily. The bikes are really easy to load and secure with the Velcro straps. It is really sturdy and does not sway much at all. I'd highly recommend this rack.7188
