The core is larger than those of MagnaFlow's standard, straight-through mufflers, so it allows even more exhaust to pass through. It contains no baffles, chambers or louvers that would restrict airflow. When air flows unimpeded through the exhaust system, horsepower, torque and fuel efficiency increase. All these factors lead to improved engine performance.

B. and C. Many racing venues now maintain decibel-level restrictions. To meet these standards, this muffler has an external sound dampener that regulates exhaust noise. Additionally, stainless steel mesh (B) and acoustic fiber (C) insulate the core. These materials absorb sound waves, shield high temperatures and prevent hazardous blowouts. • The 3-1/2 inch diameter straight-through design prevents any back pressure whatsoever. I have confirmed this with MagnaFlow. The core tube is perforated, which provides a small amount of noise dampening, but will not cause any back pressure.
