Today on our 2012 Chevy Silverado were going to install the Husky custom molded mud flaps, part number HL57791. Were going to go ahead and install the passengers side. Each step will be repeated identically for the drivers side. For our first step weve gone ahead and raised the vehicle and removed the wheel. This will make it much easier to install our mud flap. Were going to go ahead and clean off the area where the mud flap will sit.
If we take the mud flap, when you set it into place and get a good idea of the area we need to clean. Were just using some warm soap and water. Well go ahead and spray it down and wipe it down with a clean cloth. Typically we would go ahead and add a clear protective film as a protectant between the pain and the mud flap, however the manufacturers already installed this, so we can go ahead and skip that step. Now were ready to go ahead and install the mud flap.
First well line it up and make sure each one of the attachment points is hitting the inside edge of the metal part on the wheel well. Once youve gotten it into that position well go head and take our 1/8th inch drill bit and drill a hole in the second from the top hole. Once we have our hole made well take one of the four fasteners provided for this mud flap and install it to secure the mud flap. Im only going to run it down about 80% of the way at first, just enough to hold it in place but enough so that I can still move it if I need to. This will allow me to check the edge between the mud flap and the painted surface.
Now go ahead and finish securing the fastener. This will hold the mud flap in place while we go ahead and predrill out the other three fastening points. With all three holes predrilled we can go ahead and finish installing the fasteners. Now with all four fasteners installed we can go ahead and reinstall the wheel, and this will complete the installation of our Husky custom molded mud flaps, part number HL57791 on our 2012 Chevy Silverado.
