Video Transcript for Camco Motorhome Accessories CAM59005 Review

Today we're going to review part number CAM59005. This is the Camco automatic changeover two-stage propane regulator for dual propane tanks. This regulator will let you connect the two propane tanks on your RV and help maintain a constant gas pressure. It will automatically switch to a full tank when the other one is empty and it also allow you to remove the empty tank and replace it with a full one without interrupting your propane supply. As you can see here,on the very bottom it will havea three-eighths inch NPT outlet that will hook to your existing gas line. Up at the very top you can see here is the inlets.

Both of them are a one and a quarter inch SAE inverted flare connector to hook to your propane tanks. And also if you'll notice, right here there is a little handle and then there's a little window. And if you notice in that window it will show red. Basically what that means, with this all hooked up and working correctly, if one of the tanks, the service tanks that should be using, if it ends up going empty, this will show you that it's red. And you'll see there is a little arrow on this handle right here.

It's pointing to whichever is your tank that's servicing, being serviced right now. So when that turns red, that means thattank would be empty. It will automatically switch over to the reserve tank on the other side. And what you'll have to do is just when you see that,go ahead and just move this over and then it will show youthis one is now going to be your service tank and it will be a clean window. And then once that one goes empty, it will show red again that that's empty.

You do not have to turn this handle to get it to automatically switch. It'll do that automatically. The handle is just used to show you which tank is, it is pulling from and if it's empty or not. That should do it for the review on part number CAM59005. The Camco automatic changeover two-stage propane regulator for dual propane tanks.

The product is fine but I didn't realize that I needed special adapter pieces to make the item connect to the propane and bbq. . I spent a while at Loews trying to find the adapter fittings. They had no clue but the sales help just didnt know . I will seek out a plumber. I am not super smart about plumbing fixtures so this may not be a problem for others but I wish it were clearer with the product packaging what adapters were needed to connect this to propane and the the grill. 209396

I ordered the Camco automatic changeover LP regulator last fall and it had failed on the road. When I contacted E-Trailer about the problem they responded immediately offering assistance. When I ordered a new one because we needed it replaced regardless, I was contacted again with a Return Authorization for the old one. I can tell you these people at E-Trailer (George, Mike, and Amy) are great. Honest and good to business with. Thank you E-Trailer! 179750

The 2-stage propane regulator and supply hoses were exactly what I needed to fix my RV problem. The products were delivered on time and e-trailer's hookup video provided me with the assurance to do the job myself and save a couple hundred dollars. This is not my first purchase with e-trailer and I've never been disappointed. 186221

The dual propane tank rack I ordered works great! I installed it on the frame of my pop up camper, and changed from single tank to two tanks. I also ordered the regulator and the pigtails for the tanks. So happy with the ship time and installation. 222138

  • Troubleshooting Camco Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator
  • I spoke with my contact at CAMCO and he said it sounds like rushing the LP through the Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator # CAM59005 caused the check valve to automatically shut off. He recommended turning off all propane at the bottle and turning off all downstream appliances and wait about 15 minutes for the system to reset, then when you hear a click in the green nut the system will be reset and you can turn back on the propane at the bottle.

  • Installing Camco Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator on 2013 Rockwood RV
  • It is actually quite easy to install the Camco Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator for Dual Propane Tanks, part # CAM59005. You will simply unscrew the old regulator from the sidewall. Then, using a wrench, remove the supply hose. You then disconnect the 2 pigtails connected to the propane tanks from the old regulator then reconnect the pigtails to the new regulator. Next hook up the supply hose, and remount the new regulator to the sidewall and you are good to go. I have...

For a 24 inch hose to fit that you would need the # CAM59153. In case your 3/4 inch line is actually a Soft-nose P.O.L. connection you could use the adapter # CAM59203 with a # CAM59153 to go from the regulator to the feed line.

  • I can help answer your question about the Camco Automatic Changeover Propane Regulator # CAM59005. According to my contact at Camco the vent on the regulator needs to be pointing down so that no moisture can get into it. I've linked an image of the proper position for your convenience.

  • Can a Dual Propane Tank Regular be Used with Just One Tank
  • Camco Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator for Dual Propane Tanks # CAM59005 has a valve on top that will automatically switch to a full tank so you could use it with one tank and it would just always be open to that tank. But if you will always be using one tank we have 2-stage regulators # CAM59313, # CAM59323, or # CAM59333 for a single propane source and they would be more ideal than the dual tank option.

  • Switching from Single to Dual Propane Tanks on a Coachmen Travel Trailer

This is preferred so that you are not left with having to go out and switch tanks at the worst possible moment! I have linked a video of this regulator for you. You will also need a dual propane tank mount. there may be a model specifically for your trailer so you may want to check with Coachmen.

Part # CAM59005 allows for automatic changeover from the empty tank to the full backup tank; part # CAM59333 is a 2-stage regulator that provides for consistent 11" w.c. output pressure. • Troubleshooting No Propane Pressure When Using the Camco Changeover Regulator # CAM59005
  • On the display of the black knob of the # CAM59005 is the screen showing red or is it clear? If it is red that means there is no pressure detected. That would indicate that the bottles valves are possibly closed. You might double-check that the propane bottles are totally open.

  • Troubleshooting Low Propane Pressure
  • Typically the situation you are describing is characteristic of a leak in line, a low BTU rating on the regulator, or an empty tank. If you filled your tank recently, and your regulator has the correct BTU rating, then you will want to check your hose lines for any indication of a leak. The wrong regulator would not offer the right amount of pressure for the appliances. If you are still unable to find a leak I recommend you take your trailer to a local qualified trailer service shop...

  • Will I Need a Regulator for a Second Tank with CAM59005
  • The neat thing about the Camco # CAM59005 is that it has an automatic changeover valve that will keep constant pressure from one tank to the next. They will both use the same regulator, it will control the first tank til it runs out and then automatically switch over to the second tank and control that. You can even remove the empty tank to refill it without interrupting your supply. I've linked a short video on this product for your convenience.

You will want to check with the authorities to make sure you can use propane tanks in this manner. They may have special requirements you need to follow.

  • Does the Camco Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator Freeze Up
  • When LP flows it is cold. The regulator will show condensation, and to the touch it will be cold. We have not heard that because it forms a frost on the regulator it does in any way take away the function of the part. You cannot prevent the regulator from becoming cold or have frost on the part. The difference between the horizontal and vertical is the location of the vent on both, you cannot use a regulator in a position that you will have water going into the vent.

  • Availability of 2-Stage Propane Regulator
  • When selecting a propane regulator you need to consider the mounting position since there are both vertical and horizontal regulators. You want to select one so that when mounted its vent hole faces down. This will allow water to leave the regulator. Regulators are well-sealed so you do not have to worry about moisture. Camco part # CAM59005 is a two-tank regulator with 1/4-inch SAE inverted flare inlets and a 3/8-inch NPT female outlet. This unit is intended for vertical installation...

  • Refrigerator Stopped Running off Propane Power but Worked with Electric
  • It is hard to say but a gas smell would indicate a leak. You can track down a leak by the usual means: using a solution of soapy water to see where air bubble appear. No bubbles means no leak and in that case it does sound like some debris blocking the line or a valve that is sticking. Replacing the trouble part should solve the issue whether it be a leaking part, blocked part, or stuck valve.

Though it could be that the outer diameter of your hose fitting is around 1/2 inch in which case it would work. To remove all doubt I recommend hose # CAM59065.
