I went to my local Dodge Dealer to see if I could purchase a tailgate lock for my 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. To my surprise the parts counter person looked in his magic book of parts and could not come up with one go figure. I went on line to see what was out there in cyber land and came up with your website. Typed in tailgate lock for dodge ram and bam just what the Dr. Ordered,I ordered it on a Friday and it arrived Today Wednesday. So far very pleased with prompted service and the quality of product I ordered looks like OEM replacement except with lockable feature. The instructions are very easy to follow. Very satisfied. I am very pleased with prompt service from etrailer. The lock arrived on schedule and was easy to track. The tailgate lock was very easy to install and so far works very well. It matches the original handle perfectly. I would have rated it excellent but there are several plastic parts that don't appear to be very strong. Only time will tell how durable the lock is and I could not beat the price. I would definitly recommend the lock and Etrailer.84005

Just installed this weekend. Great combo with topper on 2008 Ram 1500. Looks OEM and works great. It's plastic but so is the OEM so I guess it's good. The actual catch is metal. Only took about 5 minutes or less to install. You will need a Torx bit to take the access cover off the inside of the tailgate. I like it much better than a lock that pops out. Very happy with the product! Shipped fast and etrailer sent me all the acknowledgments ASAP. Sorry for the dirty picture. Thanks.82163

Just like some of the other reviews, if I had all tools in front of me, would have completed in 15 minutes or less, great lock mechanicism, blends right in with the handle to look just like factory oem handle. Wish I had it before they stole the tailgate, they would have had to had tools to get it.. Brings piece of mind to me now! True Story.77270

Just got my locking handle in the mail. It came a day early which was cool. still looking at it in the box seems like more plastic then metal but looks like it has it where it counts. Got this so my fabric taneau cover can provide a little more security and my snowboard stays mine so how secure is fabrtic haha. this should do fine. Note if you have a bed liner it will probably take longer to install because u need to access the panel behind the handle. I did not think of this until the instructions arrived. overall thumbs up. 62459

I ordered this lock thinking it was just a lock to attach to the OEM handle, but it's a whole new handle with a lock on it. It was real easy to change it out (once i had the right sized driver bit). It only took me about 5 minutes. It works perfectly, and it's almost identical to the OEM handle. Plus, the lock on it is not obvious like the ones on OEM locking handles.60365

The tailgate lock was easy to install taking only 15 minutes or so. It fits like a glove and looks like it came as original equipment. I'm sure nothing will deter a thief who really wants in to a truck, but this will make bad guys think twice. It would be great if the lock could be keyed for the vehicle's key. This would eliminate the need for an extra key on one's key chain. 56068

The tailgate lock install easier than I ever imagined it would. Although I even had to remove the portion of my bed liner that was on the inside on the tailgate it still only took about 20 minutes from start to finish. Oh year, it worked great when finished. This product is a MUST if you have a tonneau cover that does not have a lock.43326

I am putting a Bed cover on my 04 Ram 1500, so I went to dodge to get a locking handle for the tail gate. They come back and tell me "We don't make one". I go to the Accessory Place and they want to sell me an insert style lock and charge me $100. This was perfect. it is an exact match Change out took less than 10 minutes. and it was easy. This is my second Dodge Ram i've owned and this Lock is Identical to the OEM Part except it has the lock......the inside mechanism is just as good and strong as the original..... just take off the tailgate cover and remove two nuts to release the handle.....do the reverse to install the new. It looks like the factory original and makes me mad that Dodge didnt spend the extra money to do it right the first time. It was fast and easy to install as the bedliner was a bigger pain to remove than the lock was to install. It looks like factory, locks well and secures the tailgate as advertised. I cannot stress how easy this product was to install and it is a superior product to the add on external locks like i have bought in the past.
