Are you tired of carrying a bulky ring of keys - for your hitch lock and coupler lock, your pickup cover or trailer door, and all the various padlocks securing your equipment? Tired of fumbling for the right key or having to replace a lost key?
BOLT (Breakthrough One-key Lock Technology) has solved that problem by designing a line of locks that can operate with a key you already have handy - your vehicle ignition key.
When you insert your own key into the cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key. The first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key. When the key is removed, the cylinder moves into the locked position. When the key is turned again, it will rotate to the unlocked position.
BOLT for Commercial Applications
BOLT is particularly useful in commercial applications. Imagine being able to send a crew without having to sign out multiple keys for a work truck, trailer, hitch pins, and equipment locks. I already had one of these for the hitch on the back of my truck and wanted an additional one for my 5th wheel king pin BOLT lock. Being able to use the truck factory key to unlock the receiver lock is convenient and reduces the number of keys that I can loose or misplace. My only complaint is that the area where the pin goes into the lock can get clogged with road grime, otherwise the cap over the key side of the "lock" does a very good job at keeping the key insert area clean.

This trailer receiver hitch is excellent. After buying two different locking products from two different brands, that coincidentally had exactly the same key, its very reassurning to know this lock is tied to my ignition key. Very easy to set up, very easy to remove and put back on. All in all a great product. Highly recommended.

2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty
I love the Bolt lock that keys to my truck key. However, the angled side of the hitch pin is wearing an angle into the truck's hitch. I need to stop using it so it doesn't ruin my OEM hitch.

Im 7 states away from my tow vehicle at present, so I cant send a picture. The angled end of the lock has worn away the edge of hole on the vehicles OEM hitch receiver. Instead of the hole in the receiver having a hole with a sharp 90 degree corner at the hole, it now has a 45 degree edge to the hole. I am attaching a sketch of a cross section of the hitch receiver that I hope will get the idea across. Im not much of an artist. Because of the wear on the hitch receiver, I am looking to replace the Bolt hitch with one doesnt have the angled section on it.

I have spoken with an installer and they have confirmed with me that when it comes to OEM hitches, the manufacturers will tend to make the sidewalls of the receiver thicker than on aftermarket hitches. Because of this, with you having a 3 inch hitch, it makes sense why there would be some wear on the outside of the hitch. Unfortunately, we do not have any BOLT hitch locks that have a longer span than this lock you ordered [BL7023585]. So, any of the locks that we carry, will not have the same locking mechanism that fits to the ignition key. However, we do have a hitch lock that has a 4 inch span [just slightly bigger than your hitch lock] that is available for purchase.

Looks and feels strong. Quality rubber on lock end and the lock works great with my key. I did add a piece of rubber hose on the non lock end to prevent rattle while on the road and make the whole thing look more complete.

This is a great Product with one down fall… once you Key it for your vehicle, it is permantly locked to said vehicle key. Unfortunately the vehicle it was keyed to was totaled by another driver who hit my vehicle. Now ill need to replace it with a new one once i replace the vehicle.

This item was purchased to replace other locking pins that rusted and bent in the receiver. I have a three inch receiver with a two and a half inch reducer. This lock feels heavier and more solid than others I’ve tried, so I’m hoping it proves more durable. So far it is performing quite well. I really like having it keyed to my ignition. I am looking forward to switching a couple more locks on my truck over to this system.

I love this hitch lock. You put your truck key in to set it. No extra key. Also I live in North Dakota with freezing temps etc. The hitch lock doesnt freeze up others. The rubber cover over the key area keeps it from freezing up and keeps it clean of debris
