Perfect fit and keeps my bike and bike rack safer than before. The cover over the lock itself is a little flimsy and I can see that it's going to break off soon. 80188

Great Service once again from etrailer Had issues with getting my order because i just moved but they helped me very step of the way Thanks again Product works just like it say it does wouldnt recommend it for a car hitch to hard to unlock and lock with bikes on the XTC Swagman 2 and if you have the smaller hitch the bolt sticks way out so very easy to get bolt cutters to it I would just get a smaller rattle hitch lock and then use a different system to lock the bikes 76382

Worked great, except on my 2012 Jeep Cherokee the bolt was too long to allow me to use the lock on the end of the bolt (the key was hitting the plastic trim by the hitch). On our RV, this worked great along with the: Swagman XC - 2 Bike Rack Platform Style On the Jeep, I was able to use the bolt and tighten it up, but I wouldn't want to go long distances without it locked on there (it assures the bolt would not fall out if it loosens up). Also, I did not need a lock our short trip today. Not sure if there is a shorter bolt for this application.75909

The Swagman XTC-2 is a fine 2 bicycle carrier that works well, as advertised. The same is true for the Hitch Lock and Cable that was ordered at the same time. The shipping and communication from etrailers was great and I feel certain they would have addressed any problems, had there been any, without delay and satisfactorily. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again.71424

Works well, just what I need for an overnight to lock up the bicycles. Only nuisance is you need a 7/8" wrench in the car to take off the bolt in order to store the bike rack.70232

It does the job but kind of a pain to lock/unlock it. The entire locking spindle spins around freely so you can't just reach back with one hand and unlock it. You need two hands which is rather difficult when you are reaching through two mountain bikes to get to the lock. I can just barely reach the lock and can't see the keyhole at all. 67035

This works great. Something to note: you need a 7/8" socket to tighten it. The pin that it replaced required a 3/4" socket. I had to buy a 7/8" socket. No big deal but I was surprised that the pins were different.63044

This is an excellent product. Great for locking bicycle rack and not having to worry about it being stolen from you vehicle. Just take your bikes off, go for that ride and be assured your rack will still be on your vehicle when you return, thanks to this excellent lock.62309

Worked great for less than a year (9 months) then snapped. I am not big OR strong so i know it was not due to over torquing . if you buy make sure to minimize the amount of times the bolt is removed. 59006

The lock is great. The cable is long enough to go through both wheels of the bike when on the rack. When bike is off rack and I want to just lock the rack to the hitch, the cable needs to be wrapped several times so it doesn't drag on the ground. Nice product. 2 keys come with the lock.58921

Very quick shipping, cable is heavy-duty with thick coating to protect the bike frames. I suggest a super light coating of grease or vaseline to the threads, prolongs their life of repetitive use. And keep the lock washer between the bolt's head and the smooth washer.57640

Great product, good quality, simple and easy to use. Before I had this, I was using Masterlocks on the rack hold-downs for the frames and stringing two or three cable locks together through the wheels and trying to lock my bikes to my car via the loops on the trailer hitch. With this product, it's a no-brainer to put the bikes on, run the cable through both wheels and frames and then lock the cable to the car when I lock the rack to the car via the included locking pin. I went from 4 or 5 keys/locks to 1 -not bad.56314

Does what it says. Easy to install and reasonably priced. Not as convenient as some higher-end racks where the cable is built into the rack: it's a pain to access the lock where it attaches to the hitch receiver, and if you leave the cable attached when not hauling bikes, make sure it's looped through the rack somehow to prevent it dragging on the ground. I agree with others that the instructions are misleading- the cable should attach to the hitch bolt on the locking end rather than the threaded end so you can lock/unlock your bikes without having to unscrew the bolt. Comparing the length of the threaded portion against the equivalent (non-locking) bolt that came with the rack confirms this, as the length of the threaded portion on the two bolts is about the same. 54075

It's an excellent product, and well worth the extra few bucks on my Swagman XTC 2. Gives me that piece of mind that everything is safe, and we can leave the rack on the vehicle for extended periods of time. Like anything else though, security is always a matter of criminal determination. This takes the simpletons out of the equation. In addition, etrailer rocks!52382

I bought this rack for my 2010 Prius. The bike rack is easy to assemble and very sturdy. What proved challenging for me was getting the 1-1/4" shank to slip into the hitch I had installed by U Haul. After some pounding, it finally went into place. How I'm going to remove the rack from the hitch is probably going to be a challenge. The bikes are held very securely and I hardly noticed them as I drove. etrailer was great. They promptly answered question I sent by email, and the rack arrived within a few days of submitting the order.46745

It was suggested that I also purchase this lock. It arrived quickly with the other items I ordered. However when we tried to put the lock through the hole in the hitch it was a bit too large. After several attempts we called etrailer. They were very helpful and expedient with their help. We received a new hitch pin lock in a few days. We also received an email explaining in detail how to retrun the pin that didn't fit and they emailed us a label to print out for free UPS shipping. The new pin fit perfectly with ease. So it seemed to be just a small glitch and was easily remedied. Great customer service.45323

I mounted this lock and cable as shown in the packaging, but the bolt would not thread with the cable on the threaded side of the bolt. I moved the cable to the lock side of the bolt and it worked fine. Also, if you do mount the cable on the threaded side of the bolt, you would have to unscrew the bolt completely in order to unlock the bikes. It may just be that the picture on the packaging is shown for convenience, but if mounted as shown, it would be very inconvenient.43663

Fits perfectly. Enables me to use the rattle-free feature, as well as having an integrated security cable. This is a feature that can only been accomplished with this product on the Swagman XTC rack.41667

I purchased this product to upgrade the trailer hitch (locking) mechanism for a recently purchased Swagman hanging 4 bike carrier I recently purchased from etrailer. This product is well made and is exactly as advertized, but the one aspect I didnt notice was that the locking mechanism that is secured to the trailer bolt is on the inside of the bolt, which is racheted to the hitch for saftey and a secure (non wobble) tight fit. However, to undo the lock, I found I had to remove the bolt all the way to unlock the system. For long hauls and saftey, this is a great product, but for short trips, I can see where it can be a bit much work to lock and unlock everytime. I modified the use of this product to use the locking bolt to the trailer hitch, however I moved the cable to the upper arm of the bike rack. When the rack is extended upwards, the locking position ( twin holes) for the storage position aren't used. I used an extra locking hitch lock I had and ran it through the storage position holes. This allowed easier access to the lock (it is at the same level as the bikes) and I didnt have to unbolt the hitch lock to gain access to the bikes. This is a solid well made product. 41147

Very h/d cable and lock asembly. Stainless or plated steel is holding up well on the 5/8 pin lock unit. The unit prevents any side/vertical movement of the reciever in the socket. well engineered. Thanks etrailer !41061

Bike rack is Swagman XTC2, with the Swagman lock & cable (S64031). I ordered from etrailer.com because their prices were competitive, and they provided thorough information on their website. I would have ordered via the etrailer website, but had a couple of questions, telephoned etrailer, and ended up ordering from the person I spoke with. The etrailer purchasing experience was excellent, including the initial information searching, the ordering process, rapid shipping, good post-order information, and quick delivery. Assembly of the bike rack was straight-forward, as was installation on the car. I did benefit from several suggestions made by others (in website comments), including using lockwashers with the bolts having blue locktite, and using the 2 screws underneath the ends of the carrier bar to prevent the wheel baskets from moving off the bar. The rack is installed on a 2004 Volvo V70 AWD, with a 2" Volvo hitch. The inner bike easily clears the rear door/hatch ... in my case the handlebars are near the top of the door with plenty of clearance. The XTC2 appears to be well-built (all parts fit easily & properly), and constructed of quality materials. I haven't used the rack yet, so I can't comment on its longevity. But, bottom-line at this time, the XTC2 was an excellent purchase for carrying 2 bikes.39303

If you want to make it bit more difficult for people to steal your stuff, add one of these to your rack. I'm sure it won't stop professional thieves but they might move on to the next car if they see a lock on yours.37483

Lock is good, but if I were to do it over again, I would just get the lock and forgo the cable. The cable is suppose to go to the end of the bolt that is threaded into the hitch and you are to loop it. Makes it difficult when you are locking bicycles up and then have to thread it back out every time. I just improvised and have a spacer on the other side and it seems to work fine.30661
