Specs:
This hitch pin's unique design improves the towing experience by protecting the vehicle's powertrain and safely minimizing that annoying "clanking" sound. Engineered to fit 2" ball mounts, it features an anti-rattle nut enclosure that slides inside the ball mount. A 5/8" stainless steel threaded pin clinches the nut securely to the side of the receiver tube, reducing "wiggle room" between the tube and the ball mount. To prevent theft, the hitch pin includes a brass lock with a rubber dust cover to block out debris.

The insert piece fitted with a nut slides inside the ball mount or any other hitch accessory with a hollow shank. The pin clinches the nut securely to the side of the receiver tube to reduce excess slack between the tube and the ball mount.

Today we are going to cover part number SR25219 from Softride. This is their QuietRide Tightening Hitch Pin. Some features of this hitch pin are: It has got a stainless steel hitch pin brass lock with a rubber dust cover, which helps protect the lock it can be used on any hollow 2-inch ball mount and this basically eliminates the clanking sound while towing. And it comes with three components: the hitch pin itself the lock and of course, the keys and then this part here, which actually sits inside of the ball mount itself. That is what actually clamps the ball mount to the side of the hitch and eliminates the clanking sound. And what we will do is go ahead and install it on a typical ball mount and show you how it looks.
The first step to get ready is get this part ready to go inside the ball mount. And there are two different ways you can actually install this. This comes in two pieces, and you can have it come in two different widths of ball mounts. You can install it that way to make it wider, up and down. And flip it over to make it a little bit shorter. And then this whole assembly slides into the drawbar. And then you need to line the threads up with the pin hole. We have got our ball mount installed in a 2-inch receiver hitch. The next step involved is to the pin and then thread it in. And then before you tighten it down, install the lock. And that just slides on the other side. Once you have it locked in position, then you can go ahead and tighten up the bolt. And you can see here that it is clamped down into place and it will not move. It does take out a lot of the noise that is associated with towing. And to take the lock off, loosen the lock back up, and then unlock the lock. And then you can remove your pin, and you are done. All right, that covers our review of part number SR25219 from Softride.

This fit my Alpha Tow bar and it tighten up very well. The lock and bolt are well made and the bolt had a lock washer for the bolt end. You could access the lock easily and I found that the lock should be added before doing the final tightening for the bolt.80823

I wanted to wait to review this until I actually installed it in my bike hitch. I tried it on my 2013 Ford Truck and our 2013 Lexis. I was concerned in that the lock actually fit into the hitch hole and wanted to make sure that it did-- and yes, it did on both. Perhaps it is not important but I recommend that you install the lock before you tighten the bolt all the way. The lock has little tolerance for movement so if the bolt is a little off to one side, you might not be able to get the lock on. It’s all good however; you will only make this mistake once. It would be nice if the nut was more secure but I experienced no problem with it which most likely is why they did not do more to secure it. I had an idea that I would just weld a nut to the inside or the hitch and not have to deal with the black plastic holder until it occurred to me that the black device allows this to be self centering. A very good idea. My wife is the one who wanted the bike rack so I let her install it without any advice. She did various things wrong but figured it out. She did not push on the bolt hard enough to get it into the centering of the nut (another good design item) and she tightened the bolt before putting the lock on and it was off center just enough so the lock would not push into the hole. Once she loosened it a bit, it went right in and she retightened just fine. It secures the bike mount to the hitch very well. I would, and most likely will, buy it again. Good value I rate my wife a 5. Nothing else The video is priceless. Play it79226

My previous tow vehicle had a receiver with two pin holes so I used the hook style anti-rattle hitch pin (it worked great). This vehicle's receiver only has a single hole so I decided to try this anti-rattle hitch pin. A little expensive but it works great.53916

I bought this an an add-on for a dual motorcycle carrier I've got. I've got a single motorcycle carrier and a bike rack that both came with similar threaded hitch pins and knew they worked well. Anyway, when this new hitch pin assembly arrived, I was pleasantly surprized. It arrived at my door very quickly and is of excellent quality. The lock is waaaaay better than the other ones I have. Highly recommended for anyone that uses any sort of hitch mounted rack or carrier. 40399

Everything about this product is well designed with the exception of the rubber strip that attaches the 'cap' that covers the key entry location. The strip is very thin and my cap separated from it the first time I went to remove the cap so now it is held in place with a rubber band. I do like the fact that the lock has a sleeve that fits over the hitch pin and covers it all the way into the hitch. This effectively increases the diameter of the pin and rotates which should make it more difficult for anyone who might try to cut it off with a hack saw. It also means you may need someone to adjust the hitch shank to ensure the hitch pin is exactly centered. If it isn't, you can't get the sleeve over the pin and into the hitch and that prevents the lock from engaging.39654

Locks and holds my cargo carrier tight 33481

I bought this product to keep my hitch mounted cargo carrier from moving around and to secure it so it couldn't be stolen. The carrier doesn't fit snug in the receiver so it rattles and wiggles up and down. This hitch pin threads into a nut that is held inside the hollow tube that slides into the receiver. The nut is held inside by a rubber bushing that does a good job of lining the nut up with the hole and KEEPING IT THERE! The bolt threads through the nut making everything snug (no more noise or movement) and then the lock (seems heavy duty for a hitch pin) locks on the other end.30955

Great product, fit and finish. There is a trick to getting this little guy installed. Get the bolt near tight, where you still have play in the hitch. You need the play to get the silver shield on the top of the lock to enter the receiver so the lock can lock onto the pin. Once its locked onto the pin, tighten up the bolt and you are done. No wobble, nice and secure. 25871

What I like: Depending on the hitch and receiver you use, the hitch pin may do an excellent job in controlling sway : vertical and horizontal. What I am not entirely happy about: Depending on the hitch and receiver you use, the hitch pin may do an excellent job in controlling sway on the horizontal but not as much on the vertical. Also be careful about over tightening the bold to the anti-rattle assembly. It can twist the rubber stabilizing assembly a little bit. I think that may be the reason for the lack of vertical control. The problem is, my specific pin holes are a bit deep so I can't grab the assembly to line it up correctly. Also the lock sleeve maybe a little big for the pin hole so don't completely tighten the pin so you have a little wiggle room. However it is much better improvement over the standard pin with clip.23798
