The lock is absolutely perfect. I am using it on my 1 1/4" hitch for my Softride Element 4 Bike Rack (which is great too). The lock is simple to install and it truly rids any sway that you have using the conventional bolt that comes with the hitch. Totally worth every penny! 130351

  • Differences Between the Softride Dura Parallelogram and Element Parallelogram Bike Racks
  • The Softride Dura Parallelogram, part # SR26247, has a few features that the Softride Element Parallelogram, part # SR26248, does not. The Dura has an integrated steel cable that you can use to lock your backs to the rack, to deter potential thieves from snatching the bikes off the rack, as well as anti-sway cradles that will prevent the bikes from contacting each other or the tow vehicle. The Dura has a bigger load capacity, it can hold four 40 pound bikes. The Element is limited...

  • Why Is The Lock Bolt Short On The Softride Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Bolt, # SR25056
  • The Softride Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Bolt, # SR25056, will go through the pin hole on your trailer hitch and screws into the threaded holes on the shank of the Softride bike rack or cargo carrier. The stainless steel bolt is not short it is actually long enough because you are tightening the side of the shank on the bike rack or cargo carrier to the side of the hitch on your vehicle. When the bolt is tightened it will pull the shank of the bike rack to the side of the receiver...

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2007 Chevy TrailBlazer
  • First, some bike racks do come with locks, others do not. The ones that do not do have lock options available separately. For a 2 bike rack that can tilt down and allow you to open the rear hatch, you may be able to use the Softride Versa, # SR26249. This is a platform style rack that will allow you to keep the bikes loaded on it while the rack is tilted away from the vehicle. This rack comes with a lock. It also has a threaded hitch pin to work as an anti-rattle device. Sway is...

  • Will Softride Hitch Rack Lock # SR25056 Fit a Yakima StickUp Hitch Mounted Bike Rack
  • My technical contact at Softride explained to me that the reason the Hitch Rack Lock # SR25056 is only 1/2 a bolt is because the other side of the Softride bike racks have a smaller hole so a full bolt cannot pass all the way through. He did tell me that these locks were specifically designed for the Softride line. In a Softride hitch mounted bike rack, there is actually an encapsulate nut that the bolt screws into to hold it in place. The only recommendation I can make for a lock for...

  • Will the Softride Hitch Lock # SR25056 Fit a 1-1/4 Inch Softride Bike Rack
  • The previous version of the Softride hitch lock for bike racks # SR25056 was for 2 inch hitches/bike racks only. They have since updated the lock and it is now listed as a fit for 1-1/4 and 2 inch hitches and bike racks from Softride. The lock includes threaded pins for either size shank.

  • Locking Hitch Pin Recommendation for a Softride Element Parallelogram Bike Rack
  • Since the Softride Element Parallelogram Tilting 4 Bike Rack # SR26248 you referenced has a threaded shank you will want to use a Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Bolt for 2 inch Softride Hitch Racks # SR25056. The Stainless Steel Locking, Anti-Rattle Threaded Hitch Pin # SR25219 that you referenced is designed to work on accessories with hollow shanks and would not work for your rack.

  • Will the Softride Element Bike Rack fit a 2012 Nissan Rogue With Curt Hitch # 13185
  • The Softride Element # SR26248 bike rack will fit your 2012 Nissan Rogue with a Curt # 13185 hitch installed but only if you use the Softride Extender # SR26033. This is the only way to provide enough clearance between the rack in the upright position and the bumper. You can see in the picture, the center from the hitch pin hole to the outside of the bumper is a mere 7 inches, which puts your bike rack, basically flush against your vehicle. The closest dimension with the bike rack in the...

  • What is Needed for Installing a Hitch Mounted Bike Rack on a 2009 Acura MDX?
  • You do not mention which model of Softride rack you were interested in. The SoftRide racks include either an anti-rattle hitch pin or lock. The product description will state which is included. If the rack you choose does not include the lock, part # SR25056, I would strongly recommend you get one. The lock will prevent the hitch pin from being removed, thus deterring theft. The installation of the Curt Class III hitch you are interested is pretty simple. I will include a link to the...

  • Bike Rack Recommendation to Carry 4 Bikes and Allow Rear Cargo Access on a 2005 Toyota Matrix XR
  • You are correct that the hitches available for your 2005 Toyota Matrix are available with 1-1/4 inch opening. Class I and Class II hitches have 1-1/4 inch openings. Please be aware of and do not exceed the tongue weight capacity of your hitch. If you are in need of a trailer hitch for carrying your bike rack I recommend the Curt # C12013. This is a Class II hitch that is for a tongue weight of up to 250 pounds. Please check the towing and tongue weight capacity of your vehicle and...
