Today we are going to show you DeadBolts Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2 inch trailer hitches, part number 7683. The lock is made of chrome plated steel here in the USA. It comes with a pair of keys, and a rubber cover that covers the lock cylinder face. The pin diameter is 5/8ths inches so it is compatible with class three and four two inch receiver hitches. The inside width is 2 and 5/8ths inches, and the overall length of the lock is 6 inches.
It utilizes a patented pick proof screw lock design. So as you turn the key you will turn threads inside the lock to remove it from the end of the pin. And that does it for DeadBolts Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2 inch trailer hitches, part number 7683.

The product is above reproach, it's very well constructed and I'd have no problem lending my Security to the Lock Hitch 7683. I know for a fact that if you were to get this lock made in a half inch(1/2) pin shaft, you could almost double your sales! Never-the-less, it' a strong defense against potential crime!80042

Works great, absolutely no noise whatsoever. My only complaint (and it's super minor) is that I have to put it in with the key on the left - backwards for a right-hand dominant person like me. I can't get it past the electrical connections coming in from the left to secure on the right side. That's a totally minor inconvenience, and otherwise it does exactly what it was listed to do. I just assembled the 8" hitch extender(80307) and the cargo carrier (24 x 60)(63153) and the hitch locking receivers(7683) and threw it on the Hummer H2. My God this this is huge, low wiggle as the hitches sometimes are, and got the cargo stretch net(7330) to top it off. I'm leery of plastic hooks but we will see on the net. I put some heavy stuff in the middle of the carrier and went out as the directions state, locked the stuff down with the cargo stretch net and took it out foe a spin with the wife driving behind me. She said it road very well with no shift. So with camping coming up we can't wait!65411

Use it on my Lincoln MKX with an Oval LED brake light hitch cover I also purchased. The black grip ends blend in well with the hitch, so you hardly notice it. When the lock end is screwed all the way in, there's only about an 1/8 inch gap between the hitch and the end piece.The stem piece that goes through the hitch holes is perfectly sized, so there's no leeway for it to be rattling. The Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock is too short for the 2" trailer hitch receiver on a 2012 Toyota Tundra39887
Toyota uses a thicker wall than normal on their newer Tundra and Tacoma trucks. You will need the RH5-XL instead.

item arrived within 3 days along with the rest of my order. very pleased with this lock. i have to say i was confused at first, because i was trying to spin the wrong part. once i realized it works like a screw and you spin the "key" after you put it in, it was very easy. i am not hitch savvy. this is my first hitch and of course my first install (on my jeep). i am learning as i go along. so if your like me, and have no clue what your looking at, it only takes a second to get it. if you are already familiar with key hitch receiver locks, you would not have needed that extra couple seconds of playing around with it like i did. it is nice to have peace of mind with this lock, especially with as much work and time alone that i have put into the hitch install. i researched for a month an half on best prices before i started making purchases. i was very happy with the quality of the lock as well. i expect the lock to last a while. but time will tell. thank you etrailer.com team. 39856

Some bike racks have threaded shanks or require the use of their own locks. If a bike rack does not have a straight, 58 inch hitch pin hole, then this lock will not work.

Tom,When we discovered this issue, we got in touch with DeadBolt and they built a new lock, part RH5-XL, as a solution. Newer Tundras have thick walled 2 inch hitches and the 2010 GMC Chevy HD truck owners had the same problem. The new lock has an inside width of 3-5 8 inches to fit. Check the link below.

I am an artist and I travel to outdoor art festivals. I have a trailer hitch cargo carrier that I lock onto my car at night when we are in the hotel. No need to remove it and store it in the vehicle like we used to do. Much more convenient!17645

It's not exactly what I expected for a locking mechanism. It screws all the way on with the key and requires the key to unscrew, so it is secure and simple. I did have to screw it pretty tightly to get it to the point that the key could be removed, but as long as you don't break the key I guess that's kind of a good thing, not having any play once it is tightened down. 16959

Ordered 3 keyed alike and they were all keyed alike as promised with 6 keys. The key acts like a screwdriver and twists the lock on and off with 3 to 4 complete turns. I was expecting something more like a padlock with a click, but this works fine. 16492

Not a fan of this product. Lock portion is screw on and is difficult to get on and off in my opinion. Old Lock I have is simply a twist of the key to lock into place. This one you need to screw end on. 12023

Newer Toyota Tacoma and Tundra 2 inch hitches use thicker than normal sidewalls requiring a longer hitch pin. Instead use RH5-XL.
