Camper Shell Mounting

The corner brackets included with your CapRac ladder rack are designed to securely attach to the roof of your truck's camper shell. Position the rack on the cap and mark the area beneath the mounting brackets - this is where you will drill into your camper shell. Once the brackets are bolted into place, tighten the fasteners on the crossbars to secure the entire rack. Because the brackets are designed to pivot, the tightening process should be painless and everything should fit together quickly and easily.

TracRac Slotted Crossbars

The sturdy aluminum crossbars on all TracRac ladder racks feature integrated slots for mounting and easily adjusting accessories, such as the included load stops. These slots appear on both the top and bottom of the bars for the ultimate in mounting versatility. Like the pieces that mount in the base rails, these accessories also have quick-release knobs that let you loosen and tighten them with a mere twist of a knob so that they can be positioned as needed along the bars.

A built-in trip strip at the front of each crossbar shields the slots from wind, maintaining the aerodynamic quality of the bars and preventing that annoying whistle you often find with slotted bars.

Included Tie-Downs

TracRac Load Stop Accessories

Included with your CapRac are four tie-down accessories. These load stops are designed to mount in the slots of the crossbars and slide along them for quick, easy adjustment. The bookend-style pieces help to hold ladders and lumber in place on the crossbars. They also have built-in loops for securing tie-down straps.

Sturdy, Rustproof Construction

The CapVan rack system, as well most TracRac accessories, is constructed of durable, lightweight aluminum. Because aluminum is lighter than steel - the material most often used for ladder racks - only a small percentage of your camper shell's capacity is taken up by the rack itself, enabling you to pack on more weight than you could with a steel system.

Even though aluminum is already rustproof in itself, TracRac has taken the extra step of adding a dual powder coat finish to further protect your rack. The electrostatic powder coat (e-coat) clings to the metal surface better than traditional paint finishes for a more durable covering. The second coat is a clear finish that adds extra shine and protection from scuffs and scratches.

  • What is the Removal Process for TracRac Ladder Rack # TA29100
  • The TracRac Ladder Rack # TA29100 is not a quick release system. To take this system off your vehicle, you first have to remove the crossbar tie down which includes a knob and t-bolt. You will want to keep those together so you do not lose the bolt. Next, you will need a wrench to remove the crossbars from the corner brackets. Finally, the mounting brackets, which are installed by drilling into your roof, would have to be unbolted. Removing them would probably not be a very good...

You'd also need the feet # TH460, the fit kit, part # THKIT3101 and crossbars, part # THLB50. Installing this kit would involve drilling into your camper shell to install the roof tracks. • Camper Shell Recommendation that Allows the Rails to Be 70 Inches Apart
  • The length of the track included with the Rhino-Rack Roof Rack System w/ 2 Aero Crossbars # Y02-500 is 63 inches. So there would be no way the feet could be spread 70 inches apart. A better solution would be a TracRack system like part # TA29200. The feet of this roof rack do not install in a track so you could set them as far apart as needed. Crossbar measures 65 inches long, 4 inches wide and 1-1/2 tall of the TracRack system.
