This economical side-mount ladder rack offers a complete system for carrying long loads - no accessory purchases necessary. - The width on the DeeZee ladder rack, # DZ95053, is 23 inches. It could be used to carry a canoe but you may have to carry the canoe on its side. You would also need to tie down the bow and stern using something like # Y04031.
I also recommend using some foam blocks, # ABR528, on the ladder rack bars to protect the canoe. Always make sure the bow and stern are tied down to the vehicle. Otherwise you will end up with a canoe projectile.
