The product should have been constructed to hang on its cord which is plenty strong enough to support the weight of the light and the weight to submerge it. Because there is a nylon string with it I would assume tha it could be damaged by hanging by its cord. This makes the unit very unhandy to work with, and bulky in the boat. I now question the integrity of the light itself. I have connected it to the battery to confirm that it works, but have not used it yet in the water. Because of this I hesitate to rate it. I won't know until I actually use it. I will have to cut the clips off to connect a 12 vdc plug to it so I can connect it to my boat.33012

Ever think about attaching the string by the end that has the cord and running the string up the cord??????
