Today, were reviewing part number CR-017F from Pilot. This is a brake and tail light LED hitch cover with an officially licensed Ford logo. The logo will shine blue when its being used as a taillight, but when you apply your brakes, the log shines bright red. It fits both 1 1/4 and 2-inch trailer hitch receivers.First, lets turn the lights off and Ill show you how it shines. It comes with a four-pole plug, so that just connects to your existing four-pole. Weve got it plugged in today to a portable power source.
Theres your taillight and heres your brake light. One more time, theres your taillight and brakes.Now, we can turn our lights back on and Ill show you how to do this. It comes with foam gaskets to fit both 2-inch and 1 1/4-inch hitch receivers. Heres the 2-inch. Snap that together.
Slide on the included foam gasket. On the back, you have four holes. You do get the installation hardware. Line up the 2-inch receiver with the four holes, and then slide the gasket down for weather resistance.It works the same way for the 1 1/4. Heres your foam gasket.
Two pieces are put together here. Slide that on, four holes there, and they line up with the four holes on the back of the hitch cover and then slide your gasket down for weather resistance. This is officially licensed. Lets see how it measures.It is six inches across the face and it is three inches tall. Now, because the taillights shines blue, its probably a good idea to check with your state department of transportation and make sure that it is legal to operate this hitch cover in your state.
It is okay most states, but not all of them, so just a little advice to check before you purchase.There you have it. Thats part number CR-017F from Pilot, the Ford brake-and-tail LED trailer hitch cover.

We have this Ford hitch cover it lights up blue while driving and turns red when break is applied . we have had it for over a year now . We got stopped by the police last night he said it is against Michigan law to have it because it is Blue. He said we can have it we just cant plug it in. The product is great but now what!! we had one that didn't light we took it back and got this one. I wish we would have known we couldn't use the lighted one. :( 33159

The Light Came with exposed single wires/ wich I taped for a more professional look! I was disappointed that the wire was not able to be routed through the hitch, witch I contemplated modifying but discovered the wire was too short. The light over all looks good, but I would suggest that you modify it to NOT extend past the bumper (to protect it)as it does on my 2013 Ford Supercrew factory hitch & bumper.77439

This was everything we expected it to be. The only minor snag we ran into when installing it was the 2x2 foam piece was too thick causing the pin holes not to line up. It was quickly fixed by cutting the foam piece in half and after that it was a perfect fit. 66751

When I first bought my 2007 Ford F150 I purchased one of these lights. I really liked the blue color when the running lights were on and I really liked the idea of an extra break light. The light performed flawlessly for the past six plus years. I was very angry with myself when I backed into a wall the other week and smashed the light. I was so happy that etrailer still had the same light available. I would have been very disappointed if I wasn't able to replace it. I look forward to enjoying my light for years to come. 66335

I bought this hitch cover for my Dad's birthday. SUPER NEAT! He recently bought a Ford F150 off road short bed in electric blue, so when I saw this cover I was pumped. After he opened it, he installed it right away and it looks really sharp with the color of his truck! The product requires assembly of the segment that fits in the hitch receiver tube but it couldn't be easier. The product itself seems well made for a primarily "plastic" housing. The wiring harness plugs to a standard "4-flat" service. This guy earns its money in the effect--very cool "Ford blue" look with running lights on and lights red when brakes are applied. This is a fun product! The Ford logo glows blue when the lights are on and the whole thing turns bright red when braking. The only drawback is that it is made of plastic and will break fairly easily if you back into something. As this is my second one, you can guess what happened to the first!22675

Nice light Works great. In order to keep any moisture from getting in where the wiring feeds into the housing I sealed it with black silicone and smoothed it out nicely. It worked great and looked really nice until I went 4x4ing & forgot to remove it. After going through a narrow ditch it snapped off when my rear bumper scraped the edge. It was still dangling from the cord but was still working as funny as that sounds. Gotta get a new one.264
