Today we are going to show you part number 52018 from Surco. What we have here is a 24x60 cargo carrier for a 2 inch receiver hitch. Includes integrated rails with rounded corners which makes for a nice sleek finish. With this all steel design with a rust resistant finish that is really easy to go together. In fact in only has 3 pieces you have to bolt together. Now we will cover some of the specs of this cargo carrier. First off the hitch that fits is only a 2x2 inch receiver hitch. Now we will cover some of the overall dimensions. From outside to outside the edge is 25-5/8 by 61-1/2. The actual interior dimensions is 24 by 60. One dimension to look out for is from the center hitch pin to the side edge here, you are looking at 5-1/2 inches. Also the cargo carrying capacity is 500 pounds for this cargo carrier. As you can see here we tied down a couple of objects here to give you an idea of how much room you had to play with. There are a couple of different ways of tying down cargo. I actually purchased two cargo carriers (The Surco 52018 with light kit 52014 and ROLA Hitch Carrier 59502 with light kit 20174). Both cargo carriers are well made and good choices for users desiring heavy duty, quality carriers. I would recommend either one. There are some minor differences that you might consider important. The Surco has an 8-9 inch shank that comes straight back from the car. Therefore it sits closer to the car and lower to the road. The advantage could be that with a low cargo an SUV gate might still open and of course you have a few less inches off the back of your car. The cargo space is 24 x 60 vs about 22 x 56 on the ROLA. This might be important with 24" suitcases (a standard size). The ROLA has a 15 inch shank that angles up, raising the carrier several inches higher than the Surco and a few inches further from the back of the car. The deck of the ROLA is slightly smaller, but is rated for 600 pounds vs 500 pounds. Both light kits work well, but the person who installed both for me liked the Surco because if attached to a bar rather than in the rubber/vinyl inserts. I think they are both good and would suggest you opt for the carrier that best suits you and then buy the light kit that is designed for it. Nice carrier. I went ahead and purchased stainless steel bolts for longevity purposes. Worked well on my camping trip. Two things would make it even better: Reflective tape on the back facing traffic, and a stabilizer for the hitch insert to prevent rocking back and forth (minimal if you pack it right). At this time, I do not have a need for the folding basket adaptor, but is available if necessary. This is one of the biggest on the market, and I like the 500lb. capacity. Easy to put together, just put it together on a flat level surface and you will not have an issue. All in all, a great product, I would definately recommend. The best part, the carrier is MADE IN THE USA.22566

Fantastic product. I researched hitch carriers and kept coming back to this one. It is perfect and does everythign I need. My 7 year old is in morocross and we haul his mid size motorcycly (170 lbs) up and down the interstate to the tracks. It performs perfectly. E.trailer is probably one of th ebest companies to deal with. This was the first purchase fro me from E.trailer. The day I oddered I recieved 2 e-mails to verify my purchase. then a follow up when it shipped and then another follow up when it was on my front porch. Stellar experience all the way around. Nice Carrier Pretty nice carrier, easy to assemble. Two things wrong is 1) I had to use 2 washers as shims on each bolt to make carrier level. 2) Bolts could have been galvanized or stainless steel cause I can see having to replace them due to rust.4266

Seamless Great product. Like others mentions, they should add a few washers to serve as spacers between hitch bar and the carrier itself. There is 1.5 washers space to be taken up there. Otherwise tightening bolts bends the frame of basket. Excellent quality otherwise. Would buy again3849

Too Good to Resist We've had one of these for several years and have found it too useful to describe. We use it to haul everything including trash, coolers, luggage, cement and deer(when I get lucky). Awesome Product & Saves Lives I bought one of these 3-4 years ago and use it all the time. Last weekend i had it installed on my Navigator and was rear ended by a F-450 landscape truck. This took the entire 30mph impact the tubes bent in against my bumper but the 2' steel support shaft stoped his truck and caused damage to his car but left my car realitivly unharmed and my 2 yr. old safe.2253

Fits my jeep perfectly. This hitch fit perfectly on my 2006 jeep wrangler. The hitch clears the bumper by about 3 or 4 inches and the stock 245-75-16 spare tire by 0.5 inches. I can easily fit two bikes or a large deer on the carrier. 2135

Can"t wait to try it! I just received my cargo carrier and so far am very happy with it. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but I am very optimistic. The assembly was a snap. A brain dead monkey can put it together blindfolded. I did have to use washers where the carrier attaches to the bar though. Washers would have been nice to get with the hardware bag. Again I am optimistic about how it will perform on the trip from the west coast to the east coast and back. Delivery was quick and the sales staff sent me the shipping information first thing Monday morning. I will recommend this site to everyone I know. Thanks.1458

got it in 3 days. very easy to put together but i did add 2 washers on the inside of the main tube bolts so i could tighten them without bending the slot. it is extremely sturdy and well built. i have had another cheaper brand on a work truck and all it did was bend and not fit the reciever tight was very sloppy. this one i would recommend to everyone and also a great job from etrailer for the fast shipping and quality of the product.54583

This rack looks great. I love how low profile it is to the back of the truck. I have about 4.5" of clearance from the bumper on my 2012 Durango. I haven't used it yet but when I installed it, it seemed very well made. I would definitely recommend getting an anti-rattle hitch pin though. It had quite a bit of play to it when I first installed it but when I tightened up the bolt on the anti-rattle hitch pin I got there was only about a half inch of up and down movement when I pushed on one end with my body weight (220lb). 44114

This carrier was simple to put together, four bolts and perhaps 10 minutes. It seems to be rugged and quality made. It arrived in good shape. The carrier is not too heavy for one to handle. You lean it up onto the hitch and lever the opposite end up and in. As others have mentioned, I'm not sure about the durability of the paint. I've been careful but its already scratched. The carrier fits very loosely in our hitch, a anti-rattle device is a must I think. It is a larger carrier and can get in the way of loading/unloading the hatch. The carrier fits nicely up to the rear bumper on my 2011 JGC, and is at a perfect height. An excellent product that I downgraded simply because of the paint finish and how loose it fits in the hitch.21263
