- Limiting factor would be the trailer hitch. If the hitch has a 500 lb-tongue weight capacity, the carrier and bike must weigh less than 500 lbs. The carrier weighs 115 lbs, therefore the bike must weigh less than 385 lbs.
- On a class IV/V hitch the bike cannot exceed 635 lbs
NOTE: Not for use behind an RV or motorhome.

- To haul a motorcycle on the rear of an RV I would have the Blue Ox Motorcycle Carrier I for Motor Homes, part # SC2000. This motorcycle carrier does not have the hand crank to lower the bike. It will use a loading ramp to get the bike onto the carrier. It also requires two 6 inch long receiver tubes to be welded to the frame of the RV. - The best possible solution I can offer you is to get a Blue Ox SportCarrier I # SC2100. This carrier is the only carrier rated to carry more than one motorcycle on the back of an RV. - There are only certain products that can be used behind a motor home. Like you have stated the Trailer Hitch Mounted Dirt Bike Carrier, # RHDC1, cannot be used for this application. The problem is that on the back of a motor home there is significantly more bouncing and jarring because of the extended distance from the rear axle to the back of the vehicle. On a typical RV, there is a greater distance between the rear axle and the rear bumper than what you would see on a regular passenger vehicle. - For a motorcycle carrier for use behind a motor home you can use # UF48-979033. It does not fold or have a raised shank but it is the only one of this type of carrier that you can use behind a motor home. Folding items are not recommended behind RVs and trailers because of the extra movement at the back, like being at the back of a school bus. The places where carriers fold is a possible point of weakness and the extra bouncing at the back of an RV could cause a folding carrier to fail.
