Today we're going to review part number C18132 from Curt. This is their hitchcargo carrier. We'll go ahead and cover some of the features. The whole assembly isconstructed from steel and is powder-coated. It is very easy to bolt together, andincludes a hitch pin and clip. This cargo carrier folds up for storage, whether it's inyour garage or on the back of a vehicle.
This cargo carrier is designed for 2" receiverhitches only and has a weight capacity of 500 lbs, or of the tongue capacity of yourhitch. We'll go ahead and verify the interior dimensions. We'll get a distance across of59-1/2". Front to rear is going to be 24", and the height is going to be 6-1/4". Nextwe'll go ahead and give you a measurement from the center of the hitch pin to theoutside edge of the cargo carrier, to give you an idea of length.
This measurement willbe 41-1/2". This cargo carrier is intended to carry materials that you don't want tocarry inside your vehicle. With the raised side rails, you can put your tie downsanywhere you want to secure your cargo. That will finish it for our review of part number C18132 from Curt. .

Received the package yesterday (Wednesday). Box was a bit damaged but all of the contents were there and in good shape--no damage internally. Had a little difficulty in getting the two "baskets" together (they did not line up perfectly) but, once I got them together, the rest of the assembly was a breeze. There were no "step 1; step 2; step 3; etc., etc." directions included but it was relatively easy to figure out. Has it completely assembled in about 90 minutes (including the time it took to get the "baskets" together. Seems pretty sturdy. Will be using it for our Memorial Day camping trip in a few weeks. Appears to have been a good investment. Looking forward to trying it out.78712

Have not actually used the product yet but after putting it together it appears that it will work perfectly for our intended use of hauling our daughters belongings back from college this summer. My only so called complaint is that the instructions are not clear and the pictures are vague. If there could be written instructions to go with the pictures it would improve the instructions 110%.71618

Pleased with this product and etrailer.com. It works well with my 2007 Chevy Trailblazer though the factory hitch only rated at 400 lb. minus the 65 for this carrier for a max of 335 lb, is no where near the 500 lb of this carrier but still enough for my needs, thanks69636

Rack is sturdy and suitable for what I need. Need to re-engineer shipping packaging. Bottom grating damaged in 2 places by shipping bolts. Loose hardware rattling around in box. Linch pin safety chain totally inadequate. Re-supplied necessary hardware to complete assembly. Suggest using HD tie-wraps instead of trying to save money by using assembly bolts through the grating to secure loose parts for shipping. 63517

This product was delivered quickly & was fairly easy to assemble. It works well with our Expedition. It was great to be able to unload the trailer & fold it up. We used it along with the Tow Ready 63232 locking silent hitch pin - fantastic. Very quiet & no swaying. After several days of driving it came loose, but we tightened it up & it was good again. I bought plastic tubs at Walmart for our stuff & used a cargo net to keep everything secure. Great buy for our large family!62553

I chose this model because it was larger and has a folding arm to minimize the size when not in use. It was relatively easy to assemble, took me less than 30 minutes. So far it has worked flawlessly. It does rattle a bit but I hardly notice with the radio on.61125

Great product. I only have one compaint - I can't fold the carrier up while it is attached to my vehicle because the carrier hits my bumper before it gets to the upright position. The mounting coupler needs to be about one inch longer to provide enough clearance.59177

The carrier came faster than I expected which was great as I needed it right away. Like others have said, the box was very beat up but everything was intact. If any scratches happened during shipping, I didn't really notice them or care since this will be on the back of my SUV. I needed this to transport a large dog kennel across a few states and back and it worked perfectly. It was very easy to use a few ratchet tie downs to hold it in place. The carrier bounced around a bit more than I would have liked from the fit in the receiver but it was never a problem during transport. I liked how wide this was and it was very well priced for one that also folds up. 49165

Product is very well built. Delivery was fast. Ordered and delivered to my home in 5 days. Box that product came in was very torn up but all parts and pieces were in the box. I have not been able to use it yet but I have loaded different things that I will be hauling on it and there is lots of room. It fits and folds up, with no problem, on my 2006 Jeep Commander. This a great cargo rack. It took me very little time to get it together with a few socket wrenches & few box-end wrenches. We travel with 3 kids and our Honda Pilot needed more space for stuff. This keeps it off the roof for better gas mileage. Even with a few suitcases & a cooler on it, the back lift gate still opens fully. I would recommended looking into a bungee cord net for securing cargo.46906

We ordered this product for our 2007 Tahoe. The product was easy to put together and install on our vehicle. We have not used it yet on our trip, but we attached it to the vehicle and put all the items we are going to haul on it to make sure it would all fit....and it does! We also tested to see if our back door hatch to the vehicle would open when the carrier was installed and in the down position. We have plenty of clearance for the door to open and close. Now we are just waiting to go on our trip!43659

Product arrived amazingly quick and had simple assembly. I just used it for camping and got a large cooler, 4 bundles of wood, and 3 rubbermaid boxes, with room to spare. I have a 2008 Subaru Outback, and although my bumper sticks out too far to actually fold the carrier up, I was still able to open my hatch and let my two large dogs out. Big bonus. Overall, I would say... yes, I would recommend this product from etrailer.41966

The cargo carrier must have been returned by someone else. It arrived in a damaged box, and the hardware was loose and scattered around at the bottom of the box. While putting it together, I observed that the steel floor grating is torn and twisted at two locations. The hardware set included two (unnecessary) large elastomeric washers and an extra nut that is not nylock. The hardware set also included two hitch pins, but only one hitch pin clip. The parts list says there should only be one hitch pin, but the photo of parts on your web site shows two. The instructions said to torque all bolts to 30 foot pounds, but I guess they don't really mean that. I torqued the two bolts in the mounting coupler, Part #11, and the 3/8" hex bolt squeezed the coupler together a little. Now the carrier doesn't fold very well. I plan to back off that carriage bolt tonight. I put one of the "alien" elastomeric washers in the 5/8" hex bolt assembly, and will have to remove them also. All things considered, I'm not very happy. But don't worry ... I won't send it back. 75065

I am very impressed with this cargo carrier. It is very sturdy, well-made and rock solid on the back of my Toyota Highlander. It is easy to attach and fold up when not needed. I am using the carrier now, for the first time, and love it. Any change I would recommend is a better installation sheet that is larger with clearer print.....putting together the carrier took much longer than needed because it was too cumbersome to identify pieces and where they go.....and I have better than average installation skills. Just a suggestion....otherwise, I am ecstatic!72093
