Today we're going to review part number C18100 from Curt. This is theiraluminum cargo carrier for 2" receiver hitches. I'll go ahead and cover some of thefeatures of this cargo carrier. First off, it is designed to fit 2X2 trailer hitch receiversonly. This cargo carrier does not come with the hitch and pin. Those are soldseparately.
This also folds up when not in use, so you have room in your garage, or atthe back of your vehicle. With the cargo carrier constructed from aluminum, it allowsmore weight left over for carrying capacity. This capacity of this cargo carrier is 500lbs, or the tongue limit of your hitch. This cargo carrier is easy to assemble usingbasic hand tools. I'll go ahead and cover the actual inside dimensions of the cargo carrier.Measuring on the inside at the very bottom, we have a distance of 60" across, 19"wide, and 2-3/4" tall.
We'll get one final measurement from the hitch pin to theoutside edge of the cargo carrier to give you an idea of how much length is at theback of the vehicle, and that measurement will be about 30". You can also see alongthe edge of the rails of the cargo carrier, you see these circles. Those are intended fortie-down points. The smaller holes towards the outside edge are there in case you wantto add some additional lights. It also has a provision for a license plate if you want tobolt it to the back.
One thing to remember when you tie down your cargo on allcargo carriers, do not attach to the expanded metal at the bottom. It's just not as strongas the sides are. With that, that will finish it for our review of part number C18100 from Curt. .

I just put my carrier together, It felt a little lighter than I expected but if it holds 500 lbs that will be more then I need. The only thing I don't care for is the receiver is very loose in the hitch. you can move the carrier up and down ( at the back ) about two inches. I saw this on another review. it is like the carrier shaft is quite a bit smaller then the hitch it goes in, I have 2 inch hitch, rattles when driving up a bumpy road, will need to slip some thin shims in to take up space. I find all of this minor, Like the carrier.49448

Product was easy to assemble and well made. It took about a half hour and was pretty simple and straightforward. It fit on my vehicle (2010 Hyundai Santa Fe) great, both down and folded up. I haven't used it for hauling yet, but I think it will work great.50171

Cargo carrier arrived promptly, and with great customer service support via email. Not hard to put together, but the instructions could have been clearer. Surprisingly light, but seems sturdy enough, however, it hasn't been used yet. I was concerned that there wouldn't be enough clearance between the vehicle and the edge when folded, but this doesn't seem to be an issue. I bought some reflective tape for the corners to enhance safety. An overall sound investment that I expect to get many years of use from.50081

Purchased the 20x60 Aluminum cargo carrier & Class 3 hitch from Draw tite. The product arrived undamaged and with all the extra parts and instructions to install. Product is a Great Buy and well suited for my purpose too. Assembly instructions were a little out of whack but, I was ale to look at the pictures and do the total assembly prior to tightening all the bolts and nuts. Great product once assembly is complete. Very light weight. I can easily lift the entire carrier with one arm. I'm not sure how it will hold 500lbs though because it feel so light...but Curt says it does so I will give it a try in a few weeks. The carrier wobbles just a little bit in the receiver but not enough to cause any concern or disappointment with the overall product. Two negatives though: 1. Assembly was easy but the instructions were completely crappy. If your not able to read a picture or have trouble following vague directions you may take a little longer to get this thing put together. 2. I can not fold the carrier all the way up. It hits my bumper. I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and need about 1/4 inch more clearance to get the carrier up and in the locked position. I will have to buy an extender to use this feature. As with other stuff from etrailer, it came fast. There werent any holes in the box (unlike my trailer hitch) and the product was in great shape. Good customer service and the carrier got here a day earlier than scheduled. 28155

Received the rack just 3 days after ordering! It was very easy to assemble. I really like that the rack is so light and easy to handle since I will be putting it on and taking it off frequently. I also like the folding mechanism which is easy to use. After putting the rack together and putting it on my car I loaded it up with a lawn mower, gas can, and line trimmer. It all fit with no problem. Of course, the lawn mower was a little wider than the rack, but that really wasn't an issue. Used the stretch net (part # 7330) to secure everything. I am very pleased with the products and the service from etrailer.com.10837

The cargo carrier was what I was looking for. Light weight for ease of installing on vehicle. The only issue was the pivot bolt for fold up feature was 1/2" to short, needs to be 3-1/2" long. The 7683 receiver lock works good.9531

Fasteners and brackets well designed for use. Product well finished and delivery was prompt. 1" wrench - socket / open / box end needed for assembly which is not usually a part of a consumer tool set. This sent me searching but the directions and product is top grade. I am glad the self-locking nuts were used rather than lock washers. Would recommend seating the M10*83 Carriage Bold before tightening the M10*20. I plan to use the carrier for hauling a generator and or auxiliary black water tank for primitive camping.7426

This is a nice lightweight carrier, but it's not all aluminum. It does have some steel parts, but they appear to be power coated well. It's easy to assemble, and well made. Time will tell if rust will be a problem6269

Quick and Easy to Assemble Always wear hand protection, when assembling this cargo carrier. One slip of my socket wrench caused me to slice two of my fingers, on the very sharp, aluminum mesh bottom, of the carrier, and sent me to the emergency room for two stitches in my right pinky, and three in my ring finger. All in all, the carrier was very easy to put together, and the only negative that I experienced with it so far, is that the receiver end wobbles, when mounted into the bumper 2x2" square hole. I need to make some sort of shim, to eliminate this problem. Otherwise, this cargo carrier is very well made and particularly light-weight and easy to handle, yet very sturdy. It would be very nice if reflective red safety tape had been provided for the carrier, for improved night driving visibility of the carrier. I suggest that a safety statement, recommending the use of gloves, be mentioned in the assembly instructions and that the mesh floor, of the carrier, is razor sharp, so be careful, during assembly. All in all, I really like this aluminum cargo carrier..... 3265

Great so far. Lightweight, assembled easily, and I love the use of locknuts for durable assembly. But there was an error in the assembly sheet: The 8 short bolts holding the 2 halves of the rack together are shown with the heads on the outside and the sharp bolt ends inside the cargo area. The pic on the box was correct. the rest of the instructions were difficult to understand; more pix would help.72774

The rack was easy enough to put together and is light enough for my wife to handle. I was hoping to use it to carry a motorcycle as it is rated at 500lbs and has holes to attach tie-downs. It seem a bit flimsy for this. For added security I would probably utilize some type of solid bottom say for tires to spread their load more evenly. For hauling bicycles or luggage I think it will work great. I really like that it can fold up when not being used, though it doesn't have any anti-rattle additions I can't say as we haven't actually used it yet. 30748
