With the Doubletrack's low loading height and ratcheting arms on the central mast, your bikes are mounted and ready to go in seconds. The arms include cushioned hooks that adjust independently to hold two bikes of different styles and sizes. The mast also folds down easily when you pull a lever at the base, and each arm has a Thule One Key System lock to secure your bikes to the rack.
Doubletrack accommodates bikes of almost any size and length with reinforced, sliding wheel trays. These pivoting trays feature ratcheting straps and move along the platform to adjust to your specific bikes. The wheel straps also ratchet to stabilize your bikes for transport and eliminate bike-to-bike contact.
The versatile Doubletrack is easy to store when you're not carrying bikes. An integrated lever (Hitch Switch) lets you fold your bike rack flat against the rear of your vehicle.
Doubletrack includes an adapter sleeve (Stinger Swinger) that slides over the 1-1/4" shank to convert the rack for use with 2" hitch receivers. The sleeve attaches to the shank with a single screw and can be installed or removed in seconds.
The Doubletrack includes a Snug Tite hitch lock that secures your rack to your hitch receiver. The threaded bolt in the Snug Tite lock also serves as an anti-wobble device to eliminate sway and rattle in the receiver.

Bicycle Rack that Begs you to take your Bicycles! This is a great rack. It comes with 3 locks (hitch and bicycles), is easy to assemble, easy to configure for your bicycle, can secure bicycles in a matter of minutes. Previously, I have used a Hollywood and Saris bicycle rack that hangs off the trunk. The Saris rack is much better for securing the bicycle to the rack but you still have the fact that you are dependent on the hooks to the trunk that tend to move around once you put weight on the rack and are moving. Also, you still have to secure the wheels and the handle bars from moving with bungy cords or straps. With the Thule TH990HT after you assemble and make the initial wheel well adjustments to your rack, screw the supplied bolt to the trailer hitch, you lift your bicycle into the wheel wells, cinch the attached straps across the wheels and push down the bar which has foam padding as to not scratch your frame you are good to go. It takes all of 30 seconds and is very secure. Note: You do need to have a trailer hitch in order to use this rack. I think this is a much safer, easier way to load and secure your bicycle. I installed this on my 2010 Honda Accord.4213

Purchased this to transport bikes on our 09' Saturn Vue. Possably some taillight/license plate obstruction but depends on closeness of vehicle behind. It could use washers to prevent the middle bar from having foward/back play. We did stratigically add reflecters for both stowed and transport positions since the rack basically blends with our car. Extremely easy to use and since there is allot of space between car & rack, you can remove the rear bike w/o disturbing the front bike and also open the car hatch w/o bike removal. Arrived slightly damaged with some gouches and paint scratches that appeared to be the result of bad packaging but touched up with some Rustoleum paint which we had on hand. This was our 3rd purchase from etrailer.com and will definately continue to purchase from them. The shipment came within a couple days and the email communication from them was fabulous and informative.26891

Works extremely well, exactly as advertised, for one or two bikes on both of our two-inch SUV hitches. Caveat -- the Thule packaged box arrived two days early from etrailer (!), but was missing the critical carrier-to-hitch locking bolt, and bike mount locks, and the two keys. (Obviously a Thule problem, not etrailer's). Called Thule customer service, very polite, was promised the hitch mechanism tomorrow, but, alas, the other locks and keys in a week. We do want the proper hitch deal, and if it arrives tomorrow or even Monday no problem. (I have a standard trailer bolt working ok temporarily in the slot.) As usual, the missing parts thing is frustrating, but a manufacturer's issue. If my company, I would have Xpressed the keys from wherever in Europe, with apologies. Otherwise, this review would be Xlnt -- etrailer service and follow up certainly so, and assembly was even simple enough for me (1) in an hour, with no experience, and provided tool. PS. We chose the slightly more costly Thule over the similar Yakima precisely because it HAD easy locks, and was so marketed as such. Thus frustration.20530

Very easy to assemble. Easy to operate once you go through the steps to but your bikes on and take them off. The bikes appear to be very secure and the rack is very sturdy. I would like to see a little tighter fit in the 2" hitch but it's not a problem. Great product, I'm glad I bought it! 19306

I bought this rack to replace another one that cracked my carbon bike. Great rack. Have used it on several different type bikes with good results, including my carbon bike, cruiser bike and even a huge 63 cm bike. All with good results. My only complaint is the rubber part on the clamp that holds the bike upright will leave black marks on a white bike. (very difficult to remove the black mark) Easily fixed by placing a small towel between bike and rack.17820

This is a solid product. Have it on a 1 1/4 inch hitch on a Honda Civic. I have a Gary Fisher Hi Pro DLX 29er and this rack holds the bike beautifully-- it doesn't budge an inch. I love this bike rack. Very simple to put together. It is a little heavy for me to take on and off, but once it is on, loading and unloading the bikes on this platform style rack is a snap. Love the locking features for the rack itself and for the bikes. I used it the first time this past weekend on my Honda Accord. You never even know its back there. This bike carrier was easy to assemble and adjust for our bikes. The bolt-on, lockable hitch pin makes it very secure and stable. Unlike my old carrier, it doesn't wobble at all with the bikes on it. The platform style is much easier to load and keeps the bikes from swinging. My older style hanging carrier allowed the bikes to move around and rub against each other, scarring up the paint. That won't happen with this carrier. The locks keep the bikes safe on overnight stops. Very pleased with this product.75769

I recently installed the bike rack on a 2004 Explorer XLT with a 2" hitch receiver. Only about a 15 minute process with the Thule instructions and the rack works flawlessly. The hitch pin bolt does a great job of eliminating any hitch rattle and the locks that come standard with this model minimize the chance of having a theft problem. This bike carrier is great! With my old carrier, I was always looking back watching the bike swaying back and forth as I wondered if the bikes would make it to our destination. Make sure you tighten the bolts\screws all over this thing even the bike frame holder parts I use a rag between the bike frame and holder thing I found that if you wrap a little electrical tape on the end before you stick it in the hitch it helps some 70114

I researched a long time before settling on this rack and though it has only been a couple of weeks I am really pleased. I am a recreational biker and recently had my bike drop off a trunk mount rack where it was dragged about 1/2 a mile. I wanted a good stationary hitch mount rack that is sturdy. The 990XT fits that description. Received the 990XT a couple of weeks ago and lost no time in getting it assembled and installed. Assembly was a breeze, all the pieces were included and the instructions were clear. Installed the unit on my Ford Fusion using the 1 1/4" hitch connection and the carriage bolt provided. One thing that is good to know, the nuts and bolt heads require metric tools or sockets, US style won't work very well. Loading the bike on to the rack was pretty simple and must be done with the center hold down post in the horizontal position. The center hold down post requires two hands to raise into position, so the bike must be leaned forward to rest on the trunk. This is a potential problem as the surface of the trunk might be damaged. I use an old floor mat to protect the trunk as the bike rests on it, a pretty easy solution. The hold down hooks are ratcheted and are pushed down to hold the bike in position. Each hold down has a lock for security of the bike, very useful. I've used the rack several times since I received it and and really pleased. The bike is secure, there is little or no side to side movement, and only slight front to back movement during transport. Overall, this is a really good rack. This is my first purchase from etrailer and I would recommend them to others. After a couple of uses with the Thule Bike Rack, the foam on the bars that hold the bike down came off and rubbed the paint off my bike and started rubbing metal to metal. This was a new bike and after seeing that I don't trust using the Thule Bike Rack, I understand that things happen but this shouldn't of happened after a couple of uses.57230
We will contact Thule and see what we can do. Thanks for sending in the pictures. For a step-through frame, a bike adapter bar gives the hooks a better place to grab versus trying to hold the bike way down low.

I purchased the TH990xt bicycle rack along with the trailer hitch. Both items were perfect for our Prius. The hitch was easy to install, having only 4 bolts. I was also able to put the hitch on without having to put it on a lift. The bicycle rack went together easily and fit right into the hitch. With the bikes on the car you can't really tell it until you look out the back window. Shipping was quick and the company was easy to work with. Plus, no shipping charges. Thank you. Product is great, solid, works perfectly for my Honda Accord sedan, but I know it work work equally well on a crossover or SUV. I debated between several different hitches and settled on this one for the locks. I know that ultimately a determined thief can steal anything, but if you can deter, that works most of the time. I feel secure that I could go biking and then eat dinner at a cafe and not worry about it. Most importantly, I never worry about it coming loose on the highway. It is easy to assemble and to use. I also ordered a Thule cable lock (6ft -- but I wish it was longer). You can order locks so that the three locks on this and the cable all use the same key. Etrailer communicated well throughout the process and even sent me my item faster than expected. Great service. I would buy this product again and I have already shopped again at etrailer.com. My wife and I use this bike rack every week on either my 4Runner (2" hitch) or her 12' Subaru Impreza (1.25" hitch). We love the fact that the bikes can be locked to the hitch and the hitch locked to the vehicle. Mounting and dismounting the bikes is very easy. We cannot emphasize enough the build quality of this rack. We are on our second. The first was hit in a rear-end accident and protected quite a bit of the rear of my 4Runner. We kept most of the rack for spare parts just in case. We recommend this rack to anyone carrying 2 bikes over any terrain since the rack tightens itself to the hitch and does not wobble and shake like racks we had in the past. 52500

Great product for the price. All the features that I wanted at a price that I can handle. This is my third one for family/friends. Mine is about two years old and is so easy to use. My brother wanted the hanging type and I talked him into this one and he loves it. For womens and kids frames this rack is a dream compared to the hanging type. This bike rack does not fit on 2010 Chevrolet Impala. The receiver arm is nearly 2" too short and the fold down knuckle hits the bumper. I am just getting into biking after more than 40 years and needed a bike carrier for my pick-up truck which has a 2" class III hitch. A carrier that has the bike hanging was a definite NO for me because I've witnessed them swinging from the backs of vehicles equipped with that type. I wanted my bike to be more secure than they allow. After much research I decided that the Thule TH990XT was going to give me what I wanted, a locking platform carrier at decent price. I'd read the reviews about the 1 1/4" x 2" adapter allowing some wobble (more on that later) and was looking for a straight 2" hitch mounted platform carrier but the prices were more than what I thought they were worth so I went ahead with my purchase of the TH990XT. First off the shipping of my bike carrier was free and right on time! Can't ask for much more than that! The box that the TH990XT was in showed no visible damage and upon opening the box no damage to any parts, which were all there. I forced myself to use the provide wrench, and not metric sockets w/ratchet wrench, to assemble the unit just to satisfy my curiosity as to whether the provided wrench would do the job. While it obviously took a little longer, the wrench that comes with the product did an excellent job which really surprised me! From the time I took delivery of the carrier, wheeling it up my driveway to save the UPS drivers back, to having my bike mounted on it to took me all of 40 min. The instructions, to me, are pretty straight forward and easy to follow. I have read where some people had a problem installing the locks but mine went in just like they were designed to be installed. I did end up with one extra piece that I couldn't even locate on the parts list. It is plastic, coned shaped, about 1" long with a shoulder on the larger end. I have no clue as to what it is for but perhaps it fell off the hitch pin end where the lock installs and was meant to protect that end. Pertaining to the hitch receiver wobble that some people have included in their reviews I have absolutely none of that. I had my truck shaking back and forth, up and down trying to replicate that but mine is rock solid in the hitch. The wobble comes from the looseness of the swing arms as they have to be a little loose to allow their pivoting features and may be a problem for some but I don't see it as a deal killer. I would think that any bike platform carrier that has pivot points would be somewhat wobbly where they pivot. The locking system while good to have can be defeated and if you are the least bit mechanically inclined you will see what I mean. However, like my dad always told me, locks only keep honest people honest and thieves will find a way. The weight of the unit is what you would expect from an all steel unit. It installs in the hitch very easily. The bikes are easy to mount and I really like the ratcheting wheel hold down straps that even have a molded rubber adapter that fits over the rim making the wheel much more secure. The ratcheting locking arms are a breeze to use as well and hold the bike very securely. Bottom line is that so far I am very pleased with my purchase, dealing with etrailer.com has been a pleasant experience and I would highly recommend that you purchase the TH990XT bike platform carrier from them.47731

Thule doesnt install the locks in case you are matching locks to other Thule accessories. If you already have a roof rack, for example, and purchase a hitch rack, you can order enough lock cores with the same key number and put them in all of your Thule accessories.

I am very pleased with etrailer's response and service. Overal I am satisfied with the Thule 990XT bike rack although I am surprised that it weighs 47 lbs. I thought it would be lighter than that. The upright tube should be shimmed to prevent wobble, which I will do before first use. I also had to switch the hook assemblies to place the lighter bike at the rear because it is a woman's bike. Use of a stabilizer strap should be encouraged. 45887

I put this Thule rack on a 2012 Ford Focus hatchback. This was a great option becuase I didn't want to drill holes in the roof of the brand new car to put Yakima landing pads on. This way we can take the rack off when we aren't using it. We did a ton of research on weight of the rack vs stability and I am confident that we made a great choice. We have taken this on one trip so far and are really happy with the way it holds the bikes and travels. It "wiggles" a little, but the bikes are really very secure. There is no movement from the hitch to the receiving part of the rack. I love that all the locking mechanisms are included! and no cables to run through the bikes. We carry two full suspension mountain bikes with this and are very happy with it.45038

Great Rack. Comes with some security built in. The bolt that goes through the hitch serves as an anti rattle bolt and also has a lock to deter theft. Both hold down arms have a ratcheting locking hold down method. No more trying to tighten a hand nut and hope it holds. The locks on the hitch bolt and hold down arms are not the best but do provide some security without having to purchase additional hardware. Great product for the price rage. After reading many reviews on bike racks and going to several stores looking for a bike rack I decided on purchaceing the Thule model number TH990XT. I was very happy I did. First of all doing business with etrailer was great. Ordering on line was easy and following the tracking was kind of fun. I received the product on the time stated in excellent condition. Putting the product together was not difficult. I took my time and it took me about a half hour. The vehicle I put it on was a 2012 GMC Acadia. I have just used it once to take my wife's bike to the bike shop to have some work done on the bike. The bike rack cinched the bike down well, no problems. The things I like about the bike rack is its built well. It has some weight to it but not to heavy that would make it difficult to put on or take off. I like the three built in locks, one for each bike and one for the hitch, which gives some sence of security. I like that it was made in the U.S.A.. My wife and I like rideing our bikes at the beach so that will be what we will use the bike rack mostly for.38353

This rack has some nice features. When folded down with the upright bar folded to the side it allows for the Eos trunk lid to swing out so the convertible top can be put down. With the bikes removed it can be folded up against the bumper so it takes up very little room at the rear of the car. The only problem we ran into when assembling it was one of the cross bars came without the pre-drilled holes. It has three locks, one for each bike and one at the hitch, not sure what the fourth key is for. Plan to haul two adult trail bikes.35995

This rack arrived in good condition in three business days, was quick and easy to assemble, and works as advertised. It fit very well as is on my 2008 Kia Sedona, with good road clearance. I took the time during assembly to tighten every nut, even the ones that were already on the unit. I had read that some people thought the rack moved a lot but I suspect that they need only tighten it up to reduce that substantially. The only time I have seen it move much is when I drive over rough RR tracks. It is VERY easy to put the bikes onto and with the built-in locks they are very secure with no extra effort or time. Other racks rely on your normal bike lock but that would mean scuffing or scraping the paint off the bikes from the movement during transport where this rack secures the bikes with paddedbars. With the rack under the wheels, the bikes are secure from damage from anything hitting underneath and the bikes cannot swing like they can on a hanging rack. The rack easily folds up when out riding so that it does not stick out from the vehicle. We have nice bikes and this rack keeps them that way, and is quick and easy to use. Excellent design and execution - thanks Thule - it seems rare that a product does such a good job!34672

Delivery was great, no negatives for etrailer.com. is great and serves its purpose well. Locking washers and bolts varied from product list, but not so much that one could not understand the substitutions. I laid all the parts out to the provided chart and it was obvious which pieces were substituted. All substitute parts are acceptable, but it is a little troubling when one is going by a part chart and there are substitutions. No product problems, just a mild unexpected. I drove with the new trailer hitch and bike rack loaded with my Kestrel 4000 and had no problems. Easy loading. Trunk access with the rack in place. I would submit that reflective tape be added to the rack for when it is on the car but folded for non-use as well as the outer rack bottom. I will do this myself, but it would be nice for it to be in place upon purchase. Obviously, a minor critique, but a worthy addition.34133

great customer service. shipping was much quicker than i anticipated. recieved email status updates regularly. the products was delivered to my door undamaged. unpacking and assembly took about 45 minutes with the supplied tools (very simple with good instructions). the quality of the carrier appears quite good. i purchased this to use on a chrysler 200 convertible which did pose one minor problem. the receiver for the hitch is recessed too far inward from the bumper and does not allow enough space to insert the carrier to the pin location. easily resolved by purchase of a reciever hitch extension at the local hardware store. getting the bikes on the carrier the first time was a little awkward, but after a couple of tries, it is very easy. bikes are stable on the carrier, and ground clearance is good, although i will be very careful around short steep driveways and large speed bumps. one excellent feature is that it will fold up while attached to the vehicle, this allows me to leave it on the car when parked in the garage. 32858

So far so good. Bought this rack to haul two mountain bikes for a vacation we just got back from. We drove 800 miles with the bikes on the back and had no problems. The bikes are pretty stationary once loaded. The included locks and keys are a nice addition, I think other places charge extra for them, same for the locking hitch bolt. The only thing I don't like is how much the rack bounces around, and maybe that's what it's designed to do, but it's just a little scary seeing the rack move so much when you go over bumps/dips/etc. Overall I'm happy. Installation and removal is easy, loading the bikes is pretty simple as well.21862

This Thule product is very well made. We are very pleased that it has the 3 locking systems built in so we don't have to deal with cables and padlocks. It was easy to assemble, but one tire adapter was missing. I know Thule will send the replacement part quickly. The bikes are very secure being supported from the bottom and top. And the rack is surprising stable attached to the front of truck via a 2 inch reece hitch. I really like being able to put on and take off the bikes at ground level. Our top of truck rack worked well, but it was a hassle to detach the front tire, then lift up to the top of the truck, I'll let you know more about this new hitch when I've used it for 6 months. We have had other Thule products (kayak & bike) and have been very pleased with their quality and long, reliable use. e-trailer delivered the bike rack in a matter of a 2-3 days.21371

The main reason I purchased this bike carrier was because of the design. Unlike bike racks, this carrier holds the bikes by the wheels and a locking arm that slides down over the bike's upper frame tube. I find this far superior to bike racks which you simply hang a bike on. The greatest benefit of this carrier is that no matter what kind of bike you have, and no matter what kind of frame design the bike has, it will fit on the carrier, AND sit perfectly level, rather then dangle at a strange angle, simply by the bike frame. This is the best way to secure your bike, in opinion. The carrier is also adjustable, for just about any bike wheelbase, as the holders for the wheels are adjustable. The fact that the wheels are supported and strapped down also means that they will not be able to sway while in transit. True, this carrier weighs a good amount more then most bike racks, but it is not that big of a deal, and I would rather have my bikes secure then loose to flop around on a rack. It's great that this carrier also has built in locks, so you don't need to buy anything else to keep your bike safe. This is a really great product and does exactly what I need it to do. There is plenty of space between the rear bumper/trunk area of my car, even with a bike on the carrier, so clearance and accessing the trunk is no problem. Bottom line - if you want to haul your bike(s) around and not worry about swaying during transportation, this is the best carrier you'll find. 18559

The Bike rack installed within 30 minutes. I traveled over 500 miles with the rack on the front of my truck. I was worried about rattle and bounce and it was minimal. Product was easy to assemble, although four locknuts were missing. Called Thule and they are sending replacements to me. The toughest part of mounting the bikes on the rack is clamping the straps around the wheels. Takes a bit of time to get the straps to line up with the clips and the spacers, and then to snug up the straps before clamping them down. Very simple and easy to remove bikes from rack. I like the fact that the bikes really are pretty stationery compared to my previous Hollywood rack in which they hung and swayed somewhat. Overall, a nice rack, but remember it's limited to two bikes. One thing in the back of my mind is the weight limit. That concerns me a bit since I don't know how much my bikes weigh. I'm assuming that average bikes should be fine.18463

This bike rack is GREAT! Very easy to assemble and it's really not that heavy as some would say. I've had this rack for about a week now and used it twice, the bikes are secured very well with very little shaking. I love the fact that it came with locks with 1 key that opens/locks (2 extra for spares) the hitch bolt and ratchet arms, really kept my bikes safe. I use to own the hanging type of bike rack but did not like the fact that the bikes are just dangling and could easily hit my vehicle. I recently purchased the Thule TH990XT to carry two bicycles on the back of my Ford Ranger using my hitch receiver. I chose the platform style carrier as the two bicycles are very different frame styles. I have had experience with other carriers and decided I wanted a carrier that didn't leave the bicycles dangling. I chose the Thule because of it's "same key" locking system for both bicycles and the hitch pin. The rack seems well-made and the only thing I could find to berate was a rubber endcap in one of the square tubes that had been forced in without being properly lined up. I suspect I will lose it eventually on some rough road. I look forward to using this rack as my community is finally building more bike trails and even altering streets to better allow bicycle riding safely.11415

The bike carrier is one intelligent product! The rack was really easy to assemble and install unto hitch. Folds nicely behind our new Prius; it clears both windows; hence, no obstruction. Nice welding and iron work. Makes loading easy for both men's and women's bikes. The hitch was a sinche to install; perfect for the Prius frame. The hitch bar is almost unnoticable. It does take two guys to install it. The only negative is the weight of the carrier. At 45 lbs, it is more than I expected. Using lighter weight metals would make it easier to install and remove from hitch from time to time. Etrailer service was beyond my expectations. My questions were answered and product delivered earlier than promised. Good job! 8887
