The versatile Rola TX-102 hitch-mounted bike carrier allows you to safely and securely carry two bicycles of almost any frame size on almost any vehicle.

Rola TX-102 bike rack anti-sway cradles

The bike rack has large, soft anti-sway cradles that hold your bikes securely in place during travel with rubber straps and that accommodate bike-frame tube sizes up to 2" wide and 3" tall. The anti-sway devices touch your bike frame at three points to keep the bikes from moving back and forth, eliminating bike-to-bike contact during travel and protecting your bikes's painted surfaces. The cradles can be repositioned along the rack arms to ensure that your bikes remain properly spaced.

Rola TX-102 bike rack arm folding lever

The TX-102 has dual arms that provide your bikes with excellent support. You can fold down the arms for convenient storage when the rack is not in use by pulling pin and removing the handle mounted on the top of the upright support arm. When the arms are lowered, pull the pin and replace the handle to lock the arms in place in the down position.

The bike carrier includes an integrated cable lock that stores inside the upright support arm when you are not using the rack. The cable lock secures to a post at the end of one of the rack arms to lock your bikes to the carrier. The cable lock comes with two keys.

The TX-102 offers easy access to the rear cargo area without your having to remove the bikes from the rack. You can tilt the bike carrier away from your vehicle by pulling a pin at the foot of the rack. Pull the upright arm of the rack up and forward until it rests on the stops that keep it from hitting the ground. To restore the rack to the upright position, push the rack back into place and insert the pin and clip.

The bike carrier features Rola's patented flip shank, which has both a 1-1/4" square end and a 2" square end for use with either size hitch receiver. The shank rotates around a clevis pin and locks into your desired position with a simple pin and clip. This eliminates the need for a hitch adapter and makes moving the rack between vehicles very quick and easy.

Rola TX-102 Hitch Bike Rack Review

Video Transcript for Rola TX-102 Hitch Bike Rack Review

Today we'll be reviewing the Rola TX-102, 2 bike carrier for both inch-and-a-quarter and two-inch hitches, part number 59400. This hitch-mounted bike rack carries up to two bikes. The dual arms offer excellent bike stability and conveniently fold down for storage when the bike rack is not in use. After your bike rack is assembled, we'll begin by showing you the patented bike rack shank. As we told you, this bike rack will work in both inch-and-a-quarter and two-inch hitches. To get it to work in the inch-and-a-quarter position, we'll simply remove this pin here, which will allow the shank to rotate.

We'll then reinstall the pin, and as you can see, we are ready for the inch-and-a-quarter hitch. Also included with the bike rack is a half-inch pin, specifically for the inch-and-a-quarter hitch. Today, we'll be using the two-inch hitch. We'll go ahead and pull the pin and rotate the shank around for our two-inch receiver. Also, with the bike rack comes in an anti-rattle bolt.

You have to install the block and spring into the shank, so we'll go ahead and do that now. We're ready to install it on the vehicle. All we need to do is slide our bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. With our bolt tight, we'll go ahead and put the safety clip on the other side, which will secure the bike rack to the vehicle. Here on the bottom of the bike rack mast, we can go ahead and pull this pin and lanyard, which will allow us to tilt the mast down, where we can then open our tailgate or trunk to gain access to a cargo area.

Moving up the mast here at the top, hold the pin here with the red handle, which will allow us to bring out the dual arms. With our dual arms out, you'll notice the cradles. The cradles do slide along the arms to ensure proper bike spacing, as well as rotate to accommodate most bike frames. Each set of cradles does have an anti-sway cradle that prevents bike-to-bike contact during travel. With our straps undone and our cradles exposed, we'll now place the bike into the cradles and bring the straps around, securing our bike to the bike rack.

That's it. Our bike is loaded. We'll go ahead and take it out on the road and see how it performs. That will complete the review of part number 59400, The Rola TX-102 2 Bike Carrier, for both inch-and-a-quarter and two-inch hitches. .

Great carrier at a great price, lots of nice features and easy to use. Had no problem mounting into my 2" receiver, tilts down with bike loaded to gain access to back of SUV. The built in locking cable is sweet. And the silver color matches my bike, what else could you want?7095

Used it once so far. It is rattling, even though space between hitch and rack is minimal. As far as I found out this is how it should be, so do not get scared. So far I have not lost bicycles. Customer service was excellent.53572

Really happy with this rack. Some small complaints but nothing that would stop be from buying another one. The assembly instructions were slightly unclear, however, without a little brain power and patience its pretty easy to figure out how it all goes together. Additionally, the 1and 1/4 receiver is just slightly to small (and I mean SLIGHTLY) to the point where the rack wiggles around on the back. It doesn't wiggle that much, but its noticeable. I added some teflon tap to tight everything up and it stabilized it pretty well. Otherwise, e-trailer is great! Best prices I could find, shipped very fast in great condition!52809

The only complaint I have about this bike rack is that the 1-1/4" hitch does not fit snug in the receiver, and I needed to shim it to keep the rack from swinging side to side. Other than that, the bike mounts and removes quickly, and remains secure when mounted. The built in cable lock is nice touch -- not the highest security system available, but enough to prevent snatch and grab theft. 51361

I really like the bike carrier, it holds the 2 bikes really well, the only thing that I was not that happy about, was that when it is in the receiver it is a little loose, so it moves around a bit. Thank you.34222

I purchased the eTrailer 2 bicycle hitch mount to transport my mountain bike. I like the ease of use however, the bolt that holds the vertical support needs to be very tight to keep it from rattling. I replaced the two plastic supplied washers with rubber ones that work much better. In addition, trying to insert the bolt into the receiver hitch with the anti-rattle piece is difficult and took me two hours to finally get it through the hitch. There has to be a better way as the spring that hold the anti-rattle piece is hard to insert into the hitch receiver and hold in place while you try and insert the bolt through the hitch and anti-rattle piece at the same time without it moving. Once installed it works great on my F150 pickup.23250

Rack received did not exactly match the product in the video but was close enough for me to figure out. The differences were in the bolt that attaches it to the hitch and the pin that rotates the main support arm down for access to the trunk were different. Over all nice rack and the video explains a lot. Nice job guys. Bike on.22917

This carrier is very inconvenient to use. The straps are very difficult to get on and off. Also, it isn't very high and is challenging to keep the bike high enough so the tires aren't on the street. On my 99 Acura Integra 4 door the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch Receiver with Drawbar - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" (60891) it was impossible to keep the bike tires off the road because the hitch angles down toward the street instead of parallel with the street. The Rola TX-102 2 Bike Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting (59400) is attached in the attached pictures. It hits the road on inclines and bumps and can't keep bikes high enough to keep tires off the road. If the hitch was parallel the bike carrier would have worked better. However, 22839

WOW!!!! A++ I bought this cuz it was the only cheep way for putting bikes my 08 mitsu eclipse. Of course i had to buy the trailer hitch(24754) and adapter (HTAD)also. The adapter was so tight going in to the hitch i had to use a hammer just so it would go in! I hope i can get it back out! But the bike rack is a grate product for with all that it has to offer.2658

Nice rack Overall quality good. Assembled easily, but one of the end plugs was broken on arrival... etrailer support is sending me a new plug. Handy tilt feature allows access to SUV's rear door, even with bikes mounted. Fits loosely in hitch mount, so probably need to add a shim of some sort to prevent excessive movement.2641

Top of the line bargain This was purchased sight unseen. I just needed a two bike, hitch mounted carrier for my Lexus RX330. It has all the features. The only thing missing is a lock for the hitch pin. There are locks for the bikes and for the roll down, but not the hitch. That's easily fixed.466
