The Silent Hitch Pin from Let's Go Aero takes the rattle and play out of the connection between your trailer hitch and your ball mount or hitch accessory. The unique design features a sturdy steel block with an attached spring that sits inside the shank of your hitch-mounted accessory.

Silent Hitch Pin DiagramSilent Hitch Pin Close Up

Place the block inside your ball mount or hitch accessory, and line up the hole in the block with the pin hole in your ball mount. Slide your ball mount into your hitch and insert the hitch pin. To activate the anti-rattle device, just twist the pin with the included wrench to tighten it down. Doing this will pull the accessory up against the wall of your hitch receiver, thus keeping the accessory from moving around inside your hitch. No more annoying clanking or vibrating.

The barrel-style lock goes on the end of the anti-rattle pin to provide security for your hitch-mounted accessories. Two round keys are included with the lock. A sturdy rubber dust cap comes attached to the barrel lock so that you can easily cover the lock cylinder, thus ensuring that no dirt or grime will get in to damage the lock.

Video Transcript for Lets Go Aero Hitch Accessories 63147 Review

Today, we'll be reviewing part number 63147. This is the anti-rattle trailer hitch receiver lock for 1-1/4-inch hitches from Let's Go Aero Gear Management Solutions. The trailer hitch receiver lock is used in place of your standard hitch pin and clip to prevent theft of your ball mount or hitch mount accessory. The anti-rattle pin is going to reduce the amount of play and vibration inside of your hitch connection. This does feature a barrel style lock that comes with two keys, has a weather-resistant rubber dust cap, so it's going to help keep out any dust or moisture from getting inside of the lock core, and the system is made from a sturdy steel construction with a nice chrome finish, so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion and provide a little bit of style as well. Show you real quick how this installs. Again, it is designed for 1-1/4-inch style receiver. You do want to make sure that you have a hollow shank when using this. It will not fit with a solid shank ball mount or accessory, so what you would do is you would place this system here inside of the shank of your accessory. Once you have that in there, you want to be sure that you line up the spring hole as well as the block hole with the pin hole on each side of the shank. Once you have that set, then you're ready to insert your accessory inside of your hitch.

You could take your anti-rattle bolt. It has threads inside of the block, so you just thread that into place. It does have a nice lock washer there, so once everything grabs, you're going to be set to go. The only left to do is to tighten it down with a wrench and install your lock on the other side of your hitch. Place it on there, one twist of the key. Then, you can close the dust cap, and you should be all set to go. Not only is this going to secure your accessory to your hitch and to your vehicle, it's also going to help eliminate any rattle or wobble that you may have inside of your hitch. The pin diameter is going to measure 1/2 inch.

The inside pin length, or the span, is going to give us a measurement of 2-3/8 inches, measuring from this point here to this point here. The overall length is going to give us a measurement of 5-1/4 inches, and that's with the lock installed. That's going to complete today's review of part number 63147. This is the anti-rattle trailer hitch receiver lock for 1-1/4-inch hitches from Let's Go Aero Gear Management Solutions. .

I bought this product because it had an overwhelming amount of great reviews. In fact, the other two options for my 2008 Honda Civic Si also had great reviews. Well, here's another: Just as expected, the install went smoothly. I managed to install the hitch all by myself. I had the rear of my car on jackstands and just propped the hitch up on my knees underneath the car, while attaching the supplied u-bolt to the center. That was the hardest part. The rest of the steps, which were clearly illustrated in the instructional video, were a breeze. I bought this product to mount a bike rack, and I haven't had any problems with it on. Along with an anti-rattle hitch pin, you can really feel how sturdy the product is as you try to wiggle it. Just make sure to torque the bolts to specification, and you should be able to rest easy. Great product! Also, keep up the good work with the tutorial videos, etrailer! 212129

Works as expected. Thanks to your customer service who got me to the right product to take care of my problem. Glad to now have a lock on my trailer hitch and also get rid of the noise when pulling my trailer. Picture shows 300+lbs man standing on the hitch, no more "shake, rattle or roll". 104381

Well, the guy I had standing on the hitch has lost 66 lbs. and the hitch lock is still working well.

Works great, snugged up the tube in my bike rack to the receiver and stopped the swaying of the rack. Quick, easy installation. The only thing I would mention is that the instructions say that you need a 3/4" wrench but it actually requires a 5/8" wrench. Simple to install and it does exactly what it is designed to do. 88589

Its now been a year and I have used this on many occasions and it still works perfectly. Its a great, inexpensive solution for a swaying bike rack.

After I've had installed a trailer hitch on our family car, I decide to purchase a bike rack, which I bought the Allen bicycle rack, great rack by the way. The only problem was that it did rattle a lot every time we mounted it on the hitch, therefore I went back yo carry the bikes inside the car, I kept the bike Allen rack though. All this time I was searching for the best way to carry my bikes as well as utilize the bike rack, until I found this such a great, inexpensive system, "Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch" so easy to install, and what a results... Very happy and satisfied, the only thing left for me to say is, I wish I did find this sooner! Now I can mount my bikes and drive without seen the bike rack rattling, thanks to the anti rattle system I bought from 128547

Brilliant product, seems to be very silent so far. A couple of caveats about the install for me. My hitch is a Class 1 hitch installed by U-Haul. Based on the model number I expected it do be a draw-tite sport-frame hitch, but it's not. I mounted an Allen Premier Bike Rack S535 . I had to saw off approximately one centimeter from the end of the bike rack so I could push this pin through the hole designed for a 2" rack install. It appears that the thread would not go through the hole in the bike rack designed for a 1-1/4" rack. The modifications to the rack still allow me to use the previous hardware if required. 203854

this solved the problem to my wobbly bike rack. I had tried everything and nothing worked. This hitch receiver is fantastic. I think it's the spring that goes into the bike rack receiver is what makes the magic happen. Great product and I like how fast and easy it is to install. I just leave the spring part in my bike rack when I'm not using it making it already lined up for the next use. With a little tightening of the bolt and a turn of the key, presto, it's on within seconds and locked for anti-theft.... Excellent... 138368

I have dealt with etrailer a few times now, and as far as I'm concerned they are the go-to site on the net for trailer parts and accessories. Concerning this product, it is a solid piece that performs as stated. I could not utilize the anti-rattle feature because my tailstock is solid, but by removing the springplate I can use the pin and it works great. It easily threaded into my bike carrier, and even took some of the wobble out of it. The lock works good too. 192045

Nice product; shame on me - didn't read product info carefully. I do not have a hollow shank, so the clever product, of course didn't work as it was intended. However, I've improvised, and my improvisation will do the trick. Very speedy delivery, which I did appreciate. Nice company to do business with. 184684

The keys for the lock are not the ones shown in the picture. Instead they are the round holed lockes and are much more flimsy. Disappointed in the quality. Overall unit will function as intended, but will liked not last as long. Other than this, it is as advertised. 59581

  • Hitch and Hitch-Mount Cargo Carrier for Use on 2012 Nissan Altima Sedan
  • Thank you for giving us the chance to help you with your cargo needs. We offer several 1-1/4-inch Class I trailer hitches for your 2012 Nissan Altima Sedan and all can be seen on the link at right. All three options share the same 200-lb tongue weight capacity. The Curt hitch # C11352 that you referenced does require you to use a stabilizing strap # 18050 with any non-trailer load, such as a cargo or bike carrier, to maintain your warranty. This particular hitch also requires a bit more...

  • Anti-Rattle Device for a 2004 Volvo V40 Towing a Trailer
  • The rattle that you are experiencing is because the ball mount shank is slightly smaller than the receiver opening so that you can get it in and out easily. This is the same for any trailer hitch. The receiver depth has less, if any, impact on the rattle. but not to worry because I have a solution for you to take care of that annoying rattle. The issue though with Class I trailer hitches is that most of the ball mounts for them are solid so an anti-rattle device like # SHP2082 or # 63147...

  • Is Attaching the Thule Apex to a 2013 Santa Fe With a Hitch Extender Recommended
  • The use of a hitch adapter cuts the capacity of the hitch in half, so as long as the weight of your bikes and bike rack do not exceed 50 percent of the capacity of the hitch you installed you should be fine from a capacity point of view. To deal with the extra movement created by the hitch adapter you could use an anti-rattle device like the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63147 for between the adapter and the hitch. This will greatly reduce movement. I attached a review video...

  • The Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4" Hitches # 63147 is designed to fit 1-1/4 inch hitch accessories that have hollow shanks. If your bike rack has a hollow shank then would work well. If it has a threaded hitch pin design you would need to contact Allen to see what they recommend for an anti-rattle device.

  • Compatibility of Let's Go Aero # 63147 Hitch Lock with Kuat NV and Sherpa Bike
  • The Kuat NV # N102 provides an anti-rattle feature on the shank, and includes a hitch lock, so a lock such as the # 63147 wouldn't be needed. The same would hold true for the Kuat Sherpa, part # S101. I have linked you to product demonstration videos featuring both bike racks.

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2010 Honda Accord
  • Since you want to tow and carry bikes I recommend Hidden Hitch trailer hitch # 60325 for your 2010 Honda Accord sedan. If you went with the Curt hitch you would have to use a stabilization strap, # 18050, when using the hitch for anything other than a trailer per Curt's warranty requirements. The Hidden Hitch trailer hitch does not have that requirement. The Hidden Hitch trailer hitch does include the hardware including the fishwire for installation. It also includes a ball mount, pin,...

  • Locking Anti-Rattle Device Recommendation for a Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Bike Rack
  • I have a solution for you, but the # 63147 that you referenced would not fit in your Hollywood Racks Bike Rack # HR1000. Instead you would want the part # HRLHPTC. The bike rack you have has a threaded shank that only a threaded hitch pin would fit. The # 63147 is designed for hollow shank accessories so it wouldn't fit. The # HRLHPTC also comes with a cable lock that you can route through your bikes to secure them to the rack.
