Forged, Self-Latching Jaw
The one-piece, self-latching jaw on this fifth-wheel hitch provides absolute security with its wraparound design. Increased jaw-to-king-pin contact results in not only a stronger connection, but less rattle and movement as well. And the convenient lock indicator on the hitch handle ensures that hookup is complete and secure before you can lock your trailer to your hitch.

Elite Series Slider
Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Complete Truck-Bed Access
Once your Elite Series fifth-wheel hitch is installed, you can easily remove it for complete access to your truck bed. The fifth-wheel head removes with just two pins and is easy to lift. Then you can unlock and disengage the roller base from the Power Puck rail mounting system and remove it as well. All that you will be left with is four small cavities that sit flush in your truck-bed floor - no rails, no bolts.

Simple Wiring
The included 90-degree wiring harness makes attaching your trailer to your tow vehicle a snap. With a 9' lead that can easily reach your truck bed and a 90-degree angled head that fits into tight spaces, this uniquely designed wiring harness is perfect not only for your new fifth-wheel hitch, but for gooseneck hitches as well. Simply tee the harness into your vehicle's factory-installed 7-way trailer connector, which is mounted under the bumper of your truck. The 7-way connector on this harness then mounts in the wheel well, right next to your hitch, for quick, easy hookup.

- Recommendation for a 5th Wheel Hitch with a 2010 Ford F-250 Short-Bed
- Your decision should be made on how you plan to use your truck. For me, I would choose the Elite Series 18K Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch, item # RP30144. My reasons for choosing this hitch are that I own a farm and use the bed of the truck for many other tasks. I also own a gooseneck trailer that would easily be towed using the Elite Series Gooseneck Trailer Hitch, item # RP30845, and would still leave the bed open when not needed. You will need the, # RP30073, installation kit with this hitch.

- Is a Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Required for a Heartland Big Country Trailer on a 2008 Dodge Ram
- The Heartland Big Country 5th wheel trailers have an extended pinbox and a recessed and rounded overhang at the bottom so it is possible but not guaranteed that you will not have to have a slider. However, I still recommend a slider for a few reasons. First, you never know what you might tow and you do not want to be caught in a jam where you will need a slider hitch.
Second, depending on the length of your short bed, you may still need a slider hitch to safely make 90 degree turns.

- It is possible to tow a gooseneck trailer with your 2012 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 ft bed, however, there are a few factors that you will need to take into consideration to determine if it is a good idea or not.
The first factor is to make sure that your truck can handle the weight capacity of your horse trailer. Some trailers can get pretty big and, when loaded with horses, can get pretty heavy.
The next factor you want to consider is the type of horse trailer that you are pulling. If it ha
