Video Transcript for Pro Series Fifth Wheel Hitch Review

Today we are going to show you the Pro Series line of fifth wheel hitches. The Pro Series family of fifth wheels is a great way for people new to the fifth wheeling hobby to get into it without investing a whole lot of money. They are also a nice fit for a budget conscious fifth wheel tower. The Pro Series fifth wheel hitches are available in 15000 15K, 16000 16K, and 20000 20K pound capacities. All of these hitches include the basic functions and features needed to properly tow a fifth wheel trailer. 00:26

First up is the Pro Series 15K pound head. This head features a four-way pivot both front to back and the top plate goes side to side. The side to side pivot allows a full five degrees for easy hook up even on uneven ground. The 15K Pro Series also uses a less expensive slide bar stop to lock the king pin into the head. Next we have the Pro Series 16K head. This head is a fully floating head that provides plenty of movement side to side and front to back. This will help the fifth wheel track easier when traveling and it also makes hook up very easy. It features the same slide bar latching mechanism as the 15K but it features a fully floating head. The fully floating head will allow the fifth wheel to track a little bit easier, make hooking and unhooking the trailer easy. 01:16

Finally we have the Pro Series 20K pound head. Again the head is fully floating but this time with the increased capacity we also use double locking jaws. The double locking jaws provide more contact around the king pin and will help reduce noise. It also features a lockable latch. The latch allows you to secure and lock the jaws to prevent them from coming open when traveling. The Pro Series family of fifth wheel hitches uses traditional above bed fifth wheel rails to attach to the truck. The height of the head is adjustable from 13 to 17 inches. This includes a three year warranty. There is also a Pro Series slider kit available part number RP30092. The Pro Series family of hitches includes a 15K pound hitch part number PS30093, a 16K pound hitch part number PS30089, as well as a 20K pound hitch part number PS30119.

The hitch installed like a breeze - in less time than anticipated.. it helps that my hubby is a mechanic and knew what to do! It worked great in our Dodge 2500 Ram Diesel and pulled the 31ft Fifth Wheel. Hooking up the camper is a breeze! So glad I found your site... many more camping trips on the schedule. 38128

Price is what made this product great. The best part was your youtube installation video for my application. It made it so simple compared to the mfg generic instructions. The only fault I found was the video used conical washers through out and the mfg only supplied 6 and the rest was flat washers. Really no big deal but I have this curse, I am a perfectionest. 63033

I found that the 5th wheel rails and frame mounts were easy to install. I would refer etrailer to anyone that ask about hitchs. I was very please with your service. It took only 6 days for my order to get from Mo. to Nv. It took only about 3hours to install that was because my truck had a bed liner. I am very please with your service. John 8807

Ask the Experts about this Pro Series Fifth Wheel
Do you have a question about this Fifth Wheel?

  • 5th Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2013 Dodge Ram 3500 Dual Rear Wheel Pickup
  • If your 2013 Ram 3500 has an 8-foot bed with the Factory Rail Kit you can use one of the three 5th wheel hitches shown on the link provided. All are rated for 20K and all require use of the Reese Rail Kit Mounting Adapter, part # RP30154, in order to work with the RAM OEM under-bed rail kit. Please note that none of these hitches can be used in trucks with a flare-side or step-side bed. The three hitches differ in their features. The ProSeries # PS30119 is a good entry-level hitch that...

  • Can a Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Be Used in a Long Bed Truck
  • You can use a slider type of 5th wheel trailer hitch, like # RP30083, in a long bed truck. In a long bed truck it is very unlikely that you will need to use the sliding feature of the hitch to make 90 degree turns safely. It can remain in the tow position (not slid back) and you should have enough clearance with an 8 foot bed truck. A slider should only be slid back when making tight maneuvers and not for general traveling. There are several standard stationary hitches that have the...

  • Some Guidelines for Choosing Fifth Wheel Hitch for Fifth Wheel Camper with 9000 lb Dry Weight
  • I would recommend choosing a fifth wheel hitch with your future needs in mind. All fifth wheel hitches do the same thing, retain the trailer king pin. The differences between hitches amount to their weight capacities, the features offered or the method of mounting to the truck. The lowest capacity hitch we offer is a 15K, like the Pro Series, part # PS30093. This hitch would work for you, as your trailer is unlikely to weigh more than that when fully loaded. If you might want to upgrade...

  • If the universal wedge that came with the Revolution pin box on your trailer does not work to keep the trailer from pivoting in your Pro Series 15K hitch, # PS30093, you will need the custom wedge, # 30850, that you referenced. This wedge will be installed on the underside of the Revolution pin box and adjusted to lockout the pivot at the fifth wheel hitch, allowing the Revolution pin box to rotate at the rotating turret 22 inches farther back on the trailer. • If the fully loaded and ready to tow weight of your 5th wheel is under 16K, I'd recommend the Reese R16 5th wheel hitch, part # RP30866. The hitch features a dampened head unit that helps isolate road shock from the fifth wheel from the tow vehicle. The hitch has a dual jaw with geared teeth for a positive connection to the king pin which reduces chucking and bouncing. The Pro Series # PS30093 hitch you referenced would do the job, but I'd consider it an entry-level option. The slide...

You should not need any other accessories for the fifth wheel to install. It comes with the pull pins and spring cotter pins to install to your rails.
