4-Way-Pivoting Head with Rounded-Slide-Bar System
This fifth-wheel trailer hitch features a 4-way-pivoting head to provide a full range of motion for easy trailer hookup. The fifth wheel can be easily removed by one person - simply remove two pins and two clips.
The fifth-wheel head securely grabs your trailer king pin with a rounded-slide-bar, single-jaw mechanism. The slide bar offers excellent load management and a smooth ride.
The rounded slide bar is operated by a 3/4" diameter handle with a cushioned grip that makes slide-bar operation more comfortable. The bar handle includes an integrated tab that is lockable with a padlock. Using a padlock secures your trailer to the hitch. Fifth-wheel pull-pin lock plates (RP58093; sold separately) can be used to secure the hitch to the truck.

Square-Tube Slider
This fifth-wheel trailer hitch includes a square-tube slider that offers 10" of travel in your truck bed. This enables your vehicle to make normal turns during low-speed maneuvers and in narrow spaces without fear of your trailer's contacting the cab of your vehicle.
The slider increases the space between the cab and the trailer to allow for greater turning clearance, moving the hitch and trailer king pin 10" closer to the tailgate of your truck. For highway towing, the slider locks the fifth-wheel hitch in place between your truck cab and the rear axle.
To activate slider: Stop truck and trailer. From the side of the truck, unlock the hitch from the towing position by pulling the handle. From inside the cab of the truck, manually activate the trailer brakes with the brake controller and slowly pull the truck forward until the slider locks into place closer to the tailgate. Make sure that the slider is locked, then maneuver your rig.

- Does the Pro Series Slider Automatically Lock Into Different Positions When Activated
- I spoke with my contact at Pro Series and he informed me that once you unlock the slider on your Pro Series Fifth Wheel Hitch # PS30129 it will re-lock itself automatically once it has slid into the maneuver position from the tow position, and vice versa.
So basically, if you need to go from the tow position to the maneuver position you will unlock the slider and pull forward until the slider locks itself into the maneuver position where it will lock itself. And then to go back to the tow pos

- What Position Should the Slider Hitch Be In When Hooking Up Fifth Wheel
- A fifth wheel slider hitch should be in the tow position (not slid towards the tailgate) when you are hooking up to a fifth wheel. That position is used for general and highway towing. A slider should only be slid back (maneuver position) when making tight maneuvers, like around a narrow campsite, and not for general towing or hookup. A fifth wheel slider hitch will lock in both positions.

- Can a Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch be Used on 2012 Dodge Ram with 5.5 Foot Bed
- The only way that a fifth wheel hitch can be used with a 5.5 truck bed would be to use a Sidewinder Replacement Pin Box. The Sidewinder replaces the OEM pin box on your fifth wheel, and changes the pivot point between the vehicle and trailer from the point where the king pin locks into the hitch 22 inches rearward to the point where the pin box attaches to the fifth wheel. In most cases, this provides enough clearance so that 90 degree turns can be made without the fifth wheel loft striking the
