Today were going to review part number rp30153. This is the Reese Universal Outboard Base Rails for fifth wheel trailer hitches. These are the 10-bolt design with the extended length. These base rails will install in your truck bed and help provide necessary attachment points for a fifth wheel trailer hitch. These rails are 48 inches long and the height on them is going to be one and 7/8 inches. These above-bed rails make for fast, simple installation when used with the Reese Custom Outboard Brackets, which are sold separately.
Heres what the custom outboard brackets would look like. Now these outboard brackets are required for installation of the rails. They will not work with the standard fifth wheel installation brackets. The extended length base rails allow for mounting farther out from the truck frame and it will help avoid under-bed components for easier access. These rails do come with the grade eight hardware and the necessary spacers.
These rails are compatible with Curt, Draw-Tit, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese, and Valley hitches. They are made of a sturdy black powder coat steal, which will resist corrosion. They are made in the USA. They do have a limited lifetime warrantee. Just to give you an example, I have an older style 10-bolt rail.
Its part number rp58058, and as you can see the length on that one is 43 inches, so about five inches shorter, and the rail height difference is going to be about three-quarters of an inch shorter than the newer rails. But as you can see, these were bolted. You can see the hitch holes still line up correctly, but the difference is on the mounting. If youll notice here, the 10-bolt rails will use two bolts on each end on the two rails and then one center bolt to give it 10 points of contact. On the older rail, as you can see, the standard installation brackets would come up.
Just like this new style bracket, they use the existing holes on the truck frame, but the tab right here actually came up and went over and sort of hung on the truck bed rail, and then the rail, as you can see, was bolted on top of that. The newer ones, as you can see, the bracket comes up and extends outward. The tab is actually outward from there, and then the extended rails bolt onto that. As you can see, easier access to the hardware. On the older style, when you bolt it in, you had to get under the rails and under the truck bed and access wasnt as easy, so these newer extended length rails will bring this mounting bracket outside, and you have easier access to bolting it on. Both the custom brackets use the same existing mounting holes that are already in the truck bed rail or the truck frame. That should do it for review on part number rp30153.
